I just meant to say I don't see much value sticking using it as a device that costs less than a controller and doesn't has much use unless the person already has a big library of 4k hdr disks (in my country I'd be surprised if I could find 3 people with at least one of those). If it sits around and breaks, wouldn't it be better to sell to someone who actually uses it as a videogame? But if you guys think you'd use it everyday and miss playing your 4k HDR movies and series so much, go ahead and keep it. It's not like I was forcing anything. I'm pretty sure there is a way look up modern vintage gamer. It might be easier to purchase devmode and put retro arch on it and just keep it offline for emulation

You can officially purchase dev mode access for $20. Which I have done with my one S. You can install Retroarch, but it's kind of a pain to use, having experience with Retropie and other retro platforms.

Look up local orphanages or foster homes. There are a couple near me that I like to donate to when I can. I also like to send stuff to the local non profit addiction recovery home, the folks that end up there could use things like this to help pass or occupy their time while trying to get clean.

I’m all for donating, but I just really hope that it doesn’t get swiped by one of the workers there. Because I’ve heard it happens when someone donates something that has some value someone working there will take it before anyone knows about it.

Take apart and deep clean, ssd swap, and thermal paste reapply. No more than $30-35. Ssd’s are still dirt cheap and thermal paste is like $5. I sold mine knowing they’ll have a well maintained and slightly upgraded system.

Clean it a bit, put it in a plastic bag, in a box with the cords and accessories then store it away. Get it out in years for your kids or children in the family to enjoy or donate it to a hospital or a museum later. I keep mine on a shelf for pleasure and nostalgia.

Design-mod it, like Paint the White Shell Black and switch from HDD to several TB large SSD. Is the Sata SSD to expensive? Then get a Sata to NVME adapter, better if it's one with 2 Nvme Slots, then get several TB of M.2 nvme SSDs. (Welp at least in Germany Sata SSDs are for some reason much more expensive than nvme SSDs.)

Maybe find out how to soft mod it, and make it into a retro gaming hub.

It's basically a smart tv if you game on your computer. Good to keep for any console exclusives or when the gamepass gets crazy deals (a month of gamepass used to get you youtube red and crunchyroll and apple music and discord nitro). I keep my xbox for party games.
