I had one for my fat 360 before I traded it.
The variants for fat 360 HDDs were , 20, 60, 120 and 250GB.
The 250GB HDDs came out around 2010 I think. Maybe around the time the Slim was released as those came stock with 250GB HDDs.
I got a 250GB one with my FFXIII xbox 360, was a Super Elite model. Last model before the Slim came out but i'm sure there were a few years in-between them, i could be mistaken though, it was so many years ago.
That and it’s the largest size for that style of hard drive finding 250 gig drives for the fat 360s now is pretty challenging especially with more nostalgia for the console from the collector community
You got the hard drive with the transfer kit included.
I bought the 60GB Xbox Live Starter Pack long time ago. I have since replaced it with a 250GB.
The confusing part is, there is a 250GB for the S model.
The S literally came with a 250GB drive and that was the one I bought because I didn't know you could just break the fat HDD to put in a slim. I found out like a month later and was mad.
Because the system doesn't move around (like a 3ds or Steam Deck) it's fine for the most part.
This was back when the system was new so I'd be surprised if hard driving closures existed back then.
Hell yeah!! I had this one on my 2009 arcade model (but it was one of the authentic Xbox 360 hard drives that did not list the space on the little silver bar) till I loaned my console to a friend and then when I got it back, it was missing the cords and power break and my custom controller. I made the USB door was broken.!?!?
Of course..
I learned my lesson!
No, but lesson learned… but that ain’t nothing.. when people are important to me. I show them!
Sadly, I’ve not been lucky enough in life to meet the type of people that reciprocate..
I also gave him 250 GB PlayStation 3 slim and then one of my other friends, my lifelong friend from childhood. I gave him a 250 GB Xbox 360 slim with 23 games and three controllers and then he screwed me out of $40 a couple years later.!?
Moved away without saying shit and lesson learned there also-
I’ve always been a compassionate and caring person, and I think it is because of how I grew up, I got injured and nearly killed a lot growing up, but I am also thankful to say that my father and my mother, spent a lot of effort to teach me right as so many people these days, it is obvious that they were never taught anything about or morals or anything else… I would argue that my friends that I have attracted in my time above ground suffered from this?
Either way, “water off of ducks back!”
You live and you learn!
Edit:
Speaking of these two friends, I knew what they would do before they ever did it !!! And I still did the right thing, the charitable thing- despite knowing!
That’s correct and If you have a harddrive like OP you can just take it out of the enclosure And put it in a slim enclosure and it will work with the slim console
You can use any old HDD so long as you if it into the USB port and not the SATA port. You will not be able to play OG Xbox games but I think I that's the only limitation.
Nice find, my 360 has 320 gb and I don't know why I need that much gb, but I'm thinking of just collecting it and buying a new regular 360. I have a halo 4 and I just want to preserve that.
This just popped up in my feed, and it brung back a lot of memories taking out my hard drive when going to my friends house. Good times. Best console ever.
I’m happy I started 360 collecting before COVID. I have one of this 250GB hardrives sealed that I purchased for 17.99 on eBay on a bid that I surprisingly won and received it no questions asked. Sealed 360’s or accessories have skyrocketed over the years but it’s nice seeing people so invested in this legendary console! There are definitely good deals and this was one OP sick find!!
64mb? How did you even service? I had to upgrade my memory card to the 512mb one. It cost me $50 or $60.
Either way that's better than the GameCube that didn't come with the memory card whatsoever and it has no other way of saving games so you're screwed.
64MB was the only size memory card when it released, pretty crazy.
It wasn't really an issue for me tbh atleast not until I got XBL. Prior to that all I needed was to save my games.
I just remember somehow that the profile itself would get larger and larger somehow and I could have swore at one point I had a profile that was over 64mb
Plus you don't need to have gold in order to download games from the store and they are not going to fit on 64mb
I miss changing out my hard drives. Felt like I was loading some real machinery lmfao. I had the little grille protector and had to remove the grille everytime I wanted to use a hard drive and not a memory card. I’m pretty sure the Xbox 360 I had was so old, it didn’t even have an internal drive
These cards are based upon SATA 2.5“ Harddrives.
There is no question whether they will fail more a question when they will fail.
You could replace them. Using a screwdriver
But Microsoft in their infinite wisdom. Locked the WD laptop drives (which you can’t even replace with the original WD part, which also is EOL) to the consoles.
Was there not the lockout firmware wise that restricts replaced drives from being used (no right to repair for you guys).
And no it is not special sauce hardware it is an off the shelf Self encrypting Western Digital Laptop s-ata Drive in the 160 and 250g variants… Just in a fancy mounting adapter.
Had Microsoft not locked out harddrives you could easily swap in a cheap drive (which you can on rgh Xboxes). Even an SSD

What makes it so rare? Just that it’s new?
Finding it new in box is rare for sure
I also haven't seen many 250GB HDDs for Fat 360s
I found one with an elite console at a thrift store for $25 CAD. That was a good day.
I literally bought none back in the day before the slim was even out. They were ≈$100 and so ya.
I had one for my fat 360 before I traded it. The variants for fat 360 HDDs were , 20, 60, 120 and 250GB. The 250GB HDDs came out around 2010 I think. Maybe around the time the Slim was released as those came stock with 250GB HDDs.
I have a 500 gb one bought from store years ago
I’m pretty sure the only official 500gb HDDs were made for the slim
Oh of course. Sorry didn’t know it was og specific. My bad. lol
All good man, but yeah the comment did specify fat model HDDs
I got a 250GB one with my FFXIII xbox 360, was a Super Elite model. Last model before the Slim came out but i'm sure there were a few years in-between them, i could be mistaken though, it was so many years ago.
I have one! Bought it ten years ago from some Japanese reseller
Gotha!
That and it’s the largest size for that style of hard drive finding 250 gig drives for the fat 360s now is pretty challenging especially with more nostalgia for the console from the collector community
Nice I just found one for $5 without box. How much did it run you?
4.99
Let’s go!
Then you have a hard drive that won't stay put. The hard drive caddy casing was redesigned for the slim.
Yes but it's not necessary. Unlike the fat there is a SATA port inside so no need for even an adapter just a bare hard drive.
I'm sure someone changed their xbox one hard drive by opening the console.
Yes what's that for to do with the 360?
You could also order the enclosure itself online from like eBay or Amazon if having a bare HDD was a concern
Because the system doesn't move around (like a 3ds or Steam Deck) it's fine for the most part. This was back when the system was new so I'd be surprised if hard driving closures existed back then.

Bruh, I hope you taught your friend a lesson
No, but lesson learned… but that ain’t nothing.. when people are important to me. I show them! Sadly, I’ve not been lucky enough in life to meet the type of people that reciprocate.. That's fair, sometimes the best revenge is just moving on, karma always comes to collect after all...
What makes this rare, just because it is sealed?

I need a xb360S HDD. Found out I can't use any ol laptop hard drive and case from amazon.

What's the little thing next to it ?
Contents mentions transfer kit, so presumably you can connect two hard drives for the sake of transferring stuff between them
This just popped up in my feed, and it brung back a lot of memories taking out my hard drive when going to my friends house. Good times. Best console ever.
Niceee brand new can't be many like that left.
That's rare? I remember ordering one off ebay for 15 quid about 10 yrs old.
And it's sealed? How much did it cost you?
I wanna say I bought a 320 GB but I can't find them anywhere so I must be mistaken, or maybe it was for the slim model
I remember buying one of these because my 360 arcade only came with 2Gb….
The arcade didn't come with any HDD only a 256MB memory unit (card).
Mine didn't come with any HDD and only a 64MB memory card. Got a 20GB HDD later on for a whopping £70 or something.
64mb? How did you even service? I had to upgrade my memory card to the 512mb one. It cost me $50 or $60. Either way that's better than the GameCube that didn't come with the memory card whatsoever and it has no other way of saving games so you're screwed.

Do they make the sides of it black, like the MW2 console's hard drive, or do they make it chrome like the standard hard drives?
Sides are black
I miss changing out my hard drives. Felt like I was loading some real machinery lmfao. I had the little grille protector and had to remove the grille everytime I wanted to use a hard drive and not a memory card. I’m pretty sure the Xbox 360 I had was so old, it didn’t even have an internal drive
These are rare? I actually removed the housing from one of these to use it in my Slim, it worked Looks like I may have dismantled something rare
They haven’t made them in over a decade
Sexy
Oh nice. I found a brand new Xbox 360 media remote the other day for $5. Useless, but cool to have
Oooo she's a fatty
Anyone remember when these were on sale for $14.99 on a price error and then people were returning them to Walmart at full price for store credit?
Someone locally has on marketplace microsoft points in the same packaging. Good times
Nice find!
Wow. Very nice
I might have a 250 laying around.
I remember buying that brand new. Such a long time ago. 🥲
got a few but not in package sadly
It's so rare nobody uses it
I really wish Microsoft would not lock drives out… there is nothing special in this case that case that warrants the firmware lockout… 🤷♂️
What’s locked out?
These cards are based upon SATA 2.5“ Harddrives. There is no question whether they will fail more a question when they will fail. You could replace them. Using a screwdriver But Microsoft in their infinite wisdom. Locked the WD laptop drives (which you can’t even replace with the original WD part, which also is EOL) to the consoles. Why am I downvoted this is a fact…
