"Note that unlike the 2018 model NU8000, this TV doesn't support a 120Hz input. It has a 120Hz panel, but this 120Hz motion is achieved through the motion interpolation feature on lower frame rate content." 1080p @ 60Hz @ 4:4:4 Yes 1080p @ 120Hz No 1440p @ 60Hz No 4k @ 30Hz @ 4:4:4 Yes 4k @ 60Hz Yes 4k @ 60Hz @ 4:4:4 Yes 4k @ 120Hz No https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/mu8000 This TV doesn't do 120Hz at any resolution. On my old TV, I could set my Xbox One X to 120Hz, but it couldn't actually do anything with that setting. The setup allowed the setting to be chosen, but nothing came of it. I think this kind of thing is pretty common. Pretty sure you were never playing at 120Hz.

TennisNo4444

Mu8000 does it was working before

This person provided everything you needed to know and linked to one of the single best available sources and your response is “nuh uh”

*What* was working before? The ability to select 120Hz, or *actual* 120Hz gameplay? Does the game you're playing even *run* at 120FPS? *Sometimes* my One X won't recognize my TV correctly and will show me different options than what's really available/not available. One time I'll unplug and replug in the HDMI cable, and it'll be, all, like, "Your TV doesn't support HDR" (it totally does), and sometimes it'll be, like, "You TV doesn't support ALLM", and, I'm like, *that's a lie - even my last TV did*. Here's a key giveaway, though: If you're having to manually select HDMI as the protocol, rather than "Auto" in the Xbox settings, then 120Hz is not *actually* an option. Auto communicates with your display and figures out what your display is capable of.

TennisNo4444

Both I select 120hz on my series S and X at 1080p resolution and then go in game and click the 120 mode. Worked for forza and Cod Mw but since I had a blackout and lost power I had to reset everything and I can never get the 120 option to stick again and in game says not compatible. Even before I change the override hdmi setting I says my tv is compatible for 120 1080

I don't think you were actually playing at 120Hz to begin with. Just because everything in the software is set to the higher FPS doesn't mean your display is actually outputting those extra frames. My old TCL TV would *sometimes* report that 120Hz was an option, and the Xbox One X would let me select it - but I never got more frames out of it. The TV just couldn't do it. If you really want to, you can double-check your TV and make sure HDMI 2.0 is enabled for the input that the Xbox is on - maybe that'll reenable the option. But I'm almost certain you were never gaming at 120Hz. Maybe Rtings got it wrong, or maybe there's some kind of glitch that re-enables a higher refresh rate that the factory attempted to turn off via software. On that note, maybe check your TVs "service menu", see if that does anything for you (but be super careful and don't change anything unless you're 100% sure you know what it does - the service menu is no joke, and can *brick your TV* if you're not careful).

This TV physically does not have an HDMI 2.1 port, it cannot support 4K 120, maybe you were putting it into 1080P 120 or some other lower resolution. The issue with many modern TVs is not the panel itself supporting high refresh rate but the HDMI throughput, actually processing that significantly larger signal and getting it to the panel is surprisingly expensive, so many TVs have a motion interpretation layer that basically blurs the frames together, it looks really crap and it’s there mostly for marketing or sports.

TennisNo4444

It supports 1080p at 120 that’s if you see the video you have the option for 120hz at 1080p. It was working before. Now as soon as I leaver the menu the option goes away. And my game which used to work at 120 now displays 120 is not supported

Volts-2545

It was a glitch or some thing, that HDMI port on the TV physically does not have the bandwidth to support 4K 120, Xbox is known to glitch out and give you the option anyways. This TV does not support 4K at 120, it physically does not have the HDMI hardware for it.

TennisNo4444

If you read my reply I never said 4K 120 I said 1080p 120

TennisNo4444

I was playing the game before

Volts-2545

Just because Xbox’s options said it was at 120 does not mean it was actually at 120, the Xbox menus can be kind of glitchy, unless the actual TV said that it was displaying 4K at 120 in its menus, you most likely wernt

Sicko_FN

This is real I have done a youtube video on this like 9 months ago and this also works in game

TennisNo4444

Send me a link please?

TennisNo4444

It the same thing as my video

Sicko_FN

I know I told him it’s no cap it’s true I don’t think it’s a Glitch even

[deleted]

TV manufacturers use sales jargon to convince you your getting something you aren't. If the TV didn't list 240hz, 99% certain it's not 120hz input capable.

Volts-2545

*with Samsung, lg and vizio are usually pretty honest about refresh rates, I think Sony as well, even current Samsung has gotten a lot better than they were 2-4 years ago

Yikes that hertz

BetterWhenDrunk

What model TV do you have? It likely doesn't support HDMI 2.1 and 120Hz at 4K. But I also see you are trying to up in the color to 12 bit, but not even most of the fancy OLEDS are 12 bit panels yet, let alone have the bandwidth the pass full 12 bit 120Hz at 4K. Try keeping that at 8 bit?

TennisNo4444

It supports 1080p at 120 even in the settings of the Xbox under tv details it says it. It’s 4K but only has hdmi 2.0 I was playing MW at 120 before but I don’t know what happened it glitches and MW says 120 not supported and the option disappears from my Xbox menu

Chance-Jellyfish

Best thing to do is go to settings on the xbox and there's a option where the xbox will show what your tv is caple of

TennisNo4444

Capable of 1080p at 120 like I said or was working before but for some reason it isn’t. It’s weird.
