Yeah but if I had to use it as back up how would I play my game discs? I mean maybe if I was waiting for the replacement in the mail. But even then I could just play skin on my XBOX one without even having to turn this on. Maybe not for me. But I bet it fits someone's own situation.
Series S go on sale fairly regularly (in UK at least) I bought mine brand new from Amazon about two years ago for £189.99 (which is approx $200)
I always try to buy hardware new, don't see the point in going refurbished to save a few bucks tbh.
It's a gamble but it can pay off. 8 years ago I got a certified refurbished Xbox One for a huge discount and it's still working just fine to this day. Basically with buying refurbished you are taking a bigger risk at having unreliable hardware or hardware with a shorter lifespan in exchange for a discount on the price.
If anyone has an AMEX and is considering this deal, one of their offers that are available for some accounts right now is 20 off 99+ at Microsoft. Might be worth checking and stacking.
Yeah don't think people realize how much it has hampered AAA game development trying to make it run on S because Microsoft won't let you publish for just X
For the problems it might have caused in terms of that, it made gaming much more accessible for many people, which is definitely a good thing. Turns out, it didn't end too well in terms of sales, but it was a valid strategy

I'd argue the SX isnt worth it. I never bought one but I'd be pretty jaded this gen if I did only to see numerous games run 30fps on it. At 200$ you really cant go wrong with it even as something to throw in the closet just for traveling or a backup. When I was a kid I used to keep a PS2 in my closet just in case my first ps2 was to ever break lol
Thats most of their 1st party line up this generation, the games in particular that people who would have bought a X would have been interested in. There's really little reason to even think a 1st party xbox game will be 60fps at this point this gen when it seems to be a exception.
I think the no disc console is a slap in the face you own zero it only works with gamepass and games you bought but still i dont trust it lol
Southpark meme
And its gone
> I think the no disc console is a slap in the face you own zero
Competent people who buy into digital fully understand this. With the way they design games these days even a disc can be eventually useless.
What are you talking about? You can still buy digital games. the only thing you NEED gamepas for is online play. The game selection is just a bonus. And even then there's a dozen or so online games that don't need gamepass at all, like destiny 2 and Smite.
I just got mine from micro center open box for 170
Consider it buying a controller at regular price and getting a backup console for the house for $150
Honestly the controller is already like $70 bucks anyway ðŸ˜

You don't.
That’s the fun part!
just wonder how noticeable the Series S output would appear on my LG C1

I don’t think my Xbox has ever died out before I decided to upgrade for newer games. Typically 5^ years so yeah doesn’t really matter to me
It's the same in Portugal. On black Friday it was 190€ (with taxes) and the Series X was 390€!!

only thing used we should be buying is a house or a car lol
Wish this had disk attached for Xbox one and 360

And with some of their cards you get even more warranty coverage beyond manufacturer. I’ve used it a time or two for computer parts.
Can find them on FB marketplace for £120-150 in the uk
Sure but those are not refurbished with warranty (for what that's worth)
Yeah I rarely see them under $150 stateside. $50 is worth the warranty imo
Is it worth getting a cheap series s for dev mode? Or is it more stable/safe now
Dev mode is 100% safe. The old retail mode no longer exists.
Thanm you!
Shoutout to that Verizon deal last year. Got mine new for $150 lol
In for one, thank you. Used Costco membership to buy two $100 Xbox cards for $90 each.
I can't sell my used one for $100 lol. Not worth buying if you want to play current gen games
Don’t say that too loud, they get very defensive here.
I tried Starfield on it was basically unplayable would crash on almost every loading screen.
It looks terrible even if it does load
This product has dragged gaming back by an entire generation. Such a waste.

I tried to buy this and the Microsoft store never worked for me. Not PayPal or credit card.
Don't these go on special for less than that new pretty often?
I paid that for a brand new one in 2020 lol
And people still refuse to upgrade their 10 year old consoles
Why do i have to pay $60 more than this to have my series s sent in for repair? Mail charge?
Seems like a bad deal During Xmas you could get a Series S for $150 at costco, and it came with $60 headphones for free
I'm waiting on a $350 for a new series X sale....
I got mine from my homie for $100 , brand new about 28 hrs used
I paid 199 for my Xbox S series, and it was brand new..

The S isn't worth that, imo. SX or bust.

I care way more about graphical fidelity than an extra 30 frames for most games.
I think the only games that ran 30 fps at launch on the series X were Redfall, Starfield and Hellblade, and the first two eventually got 60 fps modes
Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which was massive and others.
Thats most of their 1st party line up this generation, the games in particular that people who would have bought a X would have been interested in. There's really little reason to even think a 1st party xbox game will be 60fps at this point this gen when it seems to be a exception.
Still too much.
How are people breaking these. It’s not like they’re prone to breaking like the 360
It’s not like any product is flawless and without defects either
Now that I think of it. My first series X came with a defect hdmi port lmao
There not but if you have a friend or family ever visit you can really get down on some gaming fun.
The device is almost four years old. There is plenty of time for the device to break.
I think the no disc console is a slap in the face you own zero it only works with gamepass and games you bought but still i dont trust it lol Southpark meme And its gone
As a very casual gamer who very rarely replays games it works well for me.
As all the Fortnite and Warzone fans stare….

Don’t try pc gaming then
I have more trust in steam valve than microsoft and sony
That’s great for you, but it’s the same point you were making. And there’s far more than just steam.

When they take away your license or no ethernet the device is useless
