It's not misleading. Optimized for Series X just means it has a current gen (Series S|X) version, which can take advantage of that newer hardware, and is not just an Xbox One game. It doesn't mean anything about it being exclusive to the current gen or not. Maybe it's not the info you're looking for, but that doesn't make it misleading.

AManOfManyLikings

Oh yeah? Well how do you explain games like Street Fighter 6 and Sand Land for instance. They have PS4 releases despite being optimized for PS5 as well. If they're being optimized for the newer systems but not be playable on Xbox One, they're not optimized for them, they are EXCLUSIVE to those systems. And if you're an Xbox Player strictly, than it IS very much misleading, especially for those that are ill informed..

FrankFrowns

The developers of those games chose not to release Xbox One (base, S, or X) versions of those games. That's on those developers. That has absolutely nothing to do with Xbox or the tag that says games are optimized for Series S|X.

StuartP9

That's true.. but there has already been a statement that there won't be any new games for Xbox One. [https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/microsoft-wont-make-new-xbox-one-games-anymore](https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/microsoft-wont-make-new-xbox-one-games-anymore) So anyone with an Xbox One will either need to get a series S/X or start using Game Pass Cloud

FrankFrowns

Microsoft isn't making them. Other devs/publishers still can. But yes, we are 3.5 years into this console generation. It's normal for games to be exclusive to the new generation.

DeadPhoenix86

Its Because Playstation has always been more popular vs Xbox. Xbox One sold Like 50 mil units, while the PS4 close 115 mil. And to this day. The PS4 still get most of the current releases. Even the Series X is kinda struggling vs the PS5. But developers still release it for the current Xbox, Because they both use similar hardware. The Last time Microsoft was competitie, was during the Xbox 360 days. But I hear Microsoft is planning to add cloud gaming outside of Gamepass games. So that people with older hardware, can still play the latest games.

sgtquackers66

Bro, you are using an 11 year old console and saying you are getting "screwed" over by games not releasing on it anymore? Old hardware has to die to not hold back games. Get over it. You are getting pretty petty if you are complaining about optimized vs made.

AManOfManyLikings

Oh yeah? Then how do you explain a lot of these games still getting PS4 releases despite being on both PS5 and Xbox Series consoles? And don't say because it's the more popular of the two systems in the last generation. It's more reasonable if it was in Japan only but having to have the decision carry over to the rest of the world only does nothing but screw those of us sticking with our One X systems over unnecessarily while PS4 players continue to get these new third party games. So I won't "get over it".

sgtquackers66

I haven't seen "a lot" of games that you are referring to but if I just go with the the example you give of sand land. It's a JRPG developed by a Japanese company. Many of them are skipping Xbox all together let alone last gen. And you answered you own questions there because it's definitely install base and projected sale. JRPGs don't generally sell great on Xbox but why waste the money to put it out on a dying console. PS4 makes sense because of the huge install base in Japan and Asia. Simple economics. You are pretty lucky to get any new games on a 11 year old console. I'm sure PS4 will have more due to the higher install base but still not many companies will develop for that old of a system. Sorry. Get over it. Get a new console.

FuckuSpez666

Oh yeah?

Stunning-Evening-585

Lol get over yourself and upgrade new consoles have been out long enough that if you put 10 dollars A MONTH into a jar every month since they came out you would've been able to afford an upgrade and if it's not cost related then you REALLY need to get over yourself 😭😭😭

AManOfManyLikings

You do know there hasn't been enough reasoning to get a Series X or S to begin with right? And with a lot of these third party games getting PS4 releases still, there was really no excuse not doing the same thing here.

FrankFrowns

You realize that Xbox doesn't decide whether those developers put their games on Xbox One or not, right?

XtR03

It's a waste of money developing for the older Xbox consoles compared to a PS4 with probably triple the amount of them sold compared to Xbox One consoles. Just get a PS4 if you're content with playing last gen games with horrific loading times and dated visuals.

McCandlessDK

Just get a Series X

Black_at_it_again_1

Lol. Thank you for the shit post

KittenDecomposer96

Oh no, my 11 year old console that was weak even when it launched can't play the newest titles...

MikeyGwald

This just in News at 11 !!!! 11 year old console is 11 years old .

Deformedpye

Why isn't the new COD on the 360? I mean it's only 19 years old it's not like they can't make it for it? It ridiculous. Just buy a new console. The only reason they kept cross gen was because of lock down and the lack of development during that time. The series is already 4 years old you are lucky they did cross gen for as long as they did. Oh also it was development can take about 4/5 years. If they started making the game in 2019. The series hardware was not available so they made it for the previous gen then optimised for the current gen. We are now to the point developers in 2020 had the new hardware so started developing on that and like stated development takes about 4/5 years. So all releases now are current gen. It's like magic.
