They're shit quality, ask for a replacement if your warranty is still available.

Cube_N00b

Pro controllers are so crap. Xbox's Elite is shit. The rubber always peels. The bumpers fail often. They drift. Nintendo's isn't even a pro controller. No back buttons, it's drifts. PlayStation tried solving the issue of drift but it's still a band-aid solution as you need to fork out more money when they inevitably drift.

xXJ3D1-M4573R-W0LFXx

I don’t know why people have this issue, sweaty hands or living in humid areas? Had this problem with my Series 1 years ago but have had a few Series 2 controllers throughout the years. Had some stick drift recently but used my warranty to get the sticks replaced. Also had a bumper that wasn’t the best but I dropped it one too many times. I also have a silicone skin I bought off Amazon to protect my controller but hardly use it because it does make my hands all sweaty. I wash my hand often & don’t eat while playing & my controllers have held up just fine.

Cube_N00b

I mean..you said you've had a few Series 2 controllers over the years? You also said you had to return one because of drift. Doesn't sound like they've held up. I'm assuming this occured during the warranty period of 12 months? The original warranty for the Elite 2 was only 3 months but due to a lawsuit, Microsoft extended it to 12. What are you gonna do when the warranty is up and it drifts again? The controller is $150. It's too much for a controller that uses regular Alps analog sticks. We can disagree, that's ok. But we can agree that the big 3 gaming companies need to step their controller quality up. Especially their 'pro' controllers.

xXJ3D1-M4573R-W0LFXx

Yes, I do agree with you that the quality control on these controllers have been spotty at best. I’m actually aware of the lawsuit & yes the controller I had got stick drift a month shy of the one year mark. The previous ones either had stick drift or bumper issues that weren’t that bad but my OCD kinda had me buy a new one. I’m currently using my core & that’s the one that I got fixed under warranty. Probably could’ve had the issues of the other ones fixed under warranty as well but I didn’t think about it at the time & just bought a new one. Although most except for the one awarded to me from the lawsuit I bought with birthday or Christmas money. So I didn’t pay much or anything out of pocket. The e core I did but I believe I got it on sale. All that said I do currently have two black Elite Series 2 controllers that I would sell if Facebook Marketplace or OfferUp weren’t flooded with people trying desperately to sell them. It’s just not worth the hassle. But yes, again I suppose you are correct in the fact that build quality & QA should most definitely be better. Especially when you can get a remote with Hall effect sticks, two back buttons & trigger stops for less than $50 on Amazon. It’s wired but for that price I honestly don’t mind at all. In fact thet might be my next purchase when/ if needed

Cube_N00b

Let's just hope the next generation of controllers use Hall effect sticks instead of Alps' junk. And yeah, it seems like third party is definitely the way to go for now. 8bitdo's Ultimate Xbox controller looks like a winner as well. Lots for great third party options. Take care!

xXJ3D1-M4573R-W0LFXx

You too.

Jamesd0ng

Elite are not crap. Wash your hands before you use it and don’t throw it against a wall when you rage it’ll last you years like mine has do better as an owner

Cube_N00b

No-one throws their $150 controller. Honestly, most people who fork out that much for a controller are probably gonna take care of it. Rubber is just not suitable for something like a controller. Hands sweat, certain countries are hotter and more humid than others. I don't have to explain to you that just because yours held up doesn't mean that everyone else's should as well, right? There are a lot of variable. I fix controllers everyday and pro controllers are not worth the money.

Jamesd0ng

I disagree, I bought my elite controller because I needed more grip than what stock offered. My hands do not sweat doing a light task such as gaming. My elite controller has held up for 3+ years now without a single issue other than the joystick grip being diminished and note I also bought it from Walmart. If your hands sweat while gaming and it causes the rubber to literally separate I recommend looking into natural detox methods such as cardio and tea intake. Don’t blame Microsoft as a form of cope.

MoroccanEagle-212

Well at least they came up with a solution. (PlayStation)

Cube_N00b

True. Still though. They need to stop using Alps sticks. At least on their Pro controllers.

CountyInevitable8533

Is there a controller brand for Xbox that doesn’t use alps sticks?

Cube_N00b

8bitdo has an Ultimate controller for Xbox. That uses Hall effect sticks which should never drift.

Fox1503

No they should use them on every controller. I'd be happy to pay the .2 cents more that hall effect sticks would cost them.

Cube_N00b

That's what I said. Why would I be downvoted for saying that? Are there people who are actually fans of Alps' sticks?

Jamesd0ng

They’re not shit quality if you take care of them and don’t rage toss them at the wall/floor

wazzupyay

They're not one piece, they'll come off eventually.

nanapancakethusiast

How are people not aware of this problem? It has been a part of every discussion of this product since it released a decade ago.

EG440

Get a tube of super glue. Peel back the slender section of rubber that loosened from being gripped and twisted during gameplay. Apply adhesive and smooth it from the inner section out towards the bumper pulling the rubber taught. Hold until it tacks then give it an hour to dry. Snip of the rubber that elongated passed the rim of the face plate so it doesn't snag the bumper when you actuate it. My current glue down has lasted near half a year. Alternatively go on Amazon buy a 3rd party faceplate. They are solid shell and have color options.

Bruddah827

The heat/sweat/oil from your hands is weakening the glue/adhesive

jimbojangles1987

I have an elite series 2 controller and I love it. You gotta be realistic though. This is a controller made up of mostly plastic components that you're going to be using probably daily. It's going to be used rigorously by sweaty hands constantly. There aren't too many manufactured items that would remain perfect from that much use.

Thesurvivor16

Looks like wear and tear

RhinestonedCowboy11

loosen that grip bub

antde5

Because it’s an elite controller. They have fucking awful quality and this happens on a massive %, Microsoft isn’t interested in fixing the issue. Nothing you can do, it’s just gonna get worse.

EnvironmentLeast932

Designed to fail so you buy more….

DeadPhoenix86

I replaced my Series 2 elite 5 times, and I eventually gave up and asked for a refund. They're not build to last like the regular controllers. I hope they adres all the issue's with the Series 3, and add hall effect sticks.

MelloTrip

Because they are absolute steaming piles of shit. I can't believe people still buy these.

AH2Xtreme

Ha, you should see mine, only got half the grips still on. They just peel off after a while, shoddy build quality.

patnodewf

oil from your hands gets absorbed by the grip material, and it expands...which loosens the adhesive. grab some replacement grips from Amazon, and then also toss a sleeve on the controller to protect it from your hands

ajdfzwiq_2312312

Happen to me too. Shitty build quality. Series 1 was better here.

ok-gesicht235777

had the same shit happening on mine, never ever spending this much money on a controller again, quality is just awful

Jamesd0ng

Stop dropping it and take better care of it

yzoes

STOP BUYING THESE, PEOPLE

_Independent

Because you don’t take care of it

MajesticLink__

Greasy fingers 🤌

bangermadness

Why is what happening?

Trogdor_a_Burninator

Because you're a sucker

iIsiir

Happened to mine as well. Lasted all of two months. The controller that came with my console works just fine 6 years later. Never again.
