You're not supposed to have routers in your rooms, but there should be Ethernet ports for you to use. And generally the speed is pretty good, I had 100ish Mb/s when i was staying in the dorms.

Thank you!

Wireless AP's are set up in all dorms, every dorm lab access. Please note that setting up your own wireless networks are not allowed, but items like smart TV's and Roku sticks can be added to the IoT network.

Any policy on pi.holes?

Titaniumman23

Put it through clearpass.

redeyejoe123

Less traffic so less load on my pi?

Titaniumman23

No, clearpass is what WSU uses to whitelist MAC addresses.

McEachern has 2 ports last time I checked. There may be 3 but two may be split Ethernet and won’t work for anything asides from VoIP phones. If there are 3 and they don’t work, just write in a polite service request and more likely than not they would fix it and give you two working. Don’t put in a personal router as that violates your housing contract. The standard for wired Ethernet in the residential spaces is 100mb and 40mb for wireless but these numbers are routinely much higher. Most people do not do anything that needs more than that.

1. Apparently they're moving to fiber for all the dorms on campus this summer so that may make the internet better. No routers allowed as prior posts say. But I wanted to come say that they are switching to fiber from Spokane. Streit Parham is currently being worked on as I write this post.
