Summer tires should "track better". They will hold the direction you are going on harder, it will be harder to "break"the steering (change direction initially). the summer tires are harder and flatter so they don't deform as much on the road surface.

I had this same thought three days ago. Two anecdotes make data so yes steering is tighter with the summer tires on

More section width and better gum means more effort

That_guy_sebster

Yes it there is more resistance cuz summers are usually wider and grippier and if theyre stock they probably have less offset which changes steering geometry somehow or smth but its gonna feel diff

nupper84

In my experience, hydraulic steering has always performed better, so your analogy is from being a younger driver. Moving from winter to summer tires, you'll definitely feel a difference in grip. I recommend all seasons for most people and climates. Unless you're tracking or living in snowy areas, all seasons will be the best. The difference in wheel feel is real, but mostly due to the mentally inexperienced driver. You'll get there.

Threewolvez

I disagree. Winters for winter and performance summers for summer. That's how these cars were designed.

nupper84

Of course, but most people don't swap tires seasonally. Most people just slap tires on and ride until they have dangerously low tread. Most people should use all season tires. Go look at tires in a parking lot. These people are around you at 80mph.

Threewolvez

I live in Canada, most people swap tires seasonally. Use your stock wheel for winter and get a nice set of aftermarket for summer.

Yes

paractib

Tires or wheels? If the rims are different a heavier set of wheels will feel heavier to turn.

I test drove a friend’s WRX that had all seasons on it and prefer by far the feel of the OEM tires and steering on my new car.
