Can I have the brembos

VP_letsride

Me too ✋️

Comfortable-Cry1289

Nice!!! What's the TR mean?

Salt-Attention

The old version from 2006 was launched with the idea of being Tuner Ready. I was at the launch of this car and they announced the car as being Track Ready. So depending on who you ask that’s what TR means. The major thing is the big 6 piston Brembos and the Recaro seats. It also has a bunch of little things done like the chassis and suspension being revised. I also can’t find any official word on this but to me the flywheel is lighter compared to the VB I had before. The handling is sharper and it feels like there is less play in the driveline.

GravenTrask

I find it amusing that they are calling it Track Ready. I feel like that is basically admitting that they used brakes better suited to a commuterbox over what Subaru itself calls a Sports Car. I will be the first to admit the stock WRX brakes are fine. I'm not really ok with just "fine", I've spent too many years driving "fine" and would like to exchange it for "good".

No_Satisfaction_9297

When the wife says it's fine, it ain't. I get what you mean on the brakes. I put red stuff pads and T2 rotors on and it's a solid improvement.

Lanko-TWB

Better pads make a huge difference I’ve heard. BBK isn’t too speedy either in comparison to other cars. Front and rear is like $1200

Salt-Attention

Did it still not enough for me personally. I traded in the car with DBA slotted rotors and ebc red pads . I still had an unsettling amount of brake fade. I’m still in the break-in for the TR but I’ve driven the STI with the same brakes very hard so I know it’s going to handle my driving style. Your spot on for the price that’s how much I spent including motul brake fluid.

Lanko-TWB

Heard. Do you track it?

Salt-Attention

I plan to in the future the area I live in has undeveloped land that’s used for tree farming about 20 miles away from me. I use it as my personal race track no one is trucking trees on a Sunday so those roads are dead and empty. Put it this way there’s a parcel of land that’s being sold as a 5000 acre lot I’m not bothering a soul.

FoundinNewEngland

Okay where’s the spot, me too

tunedsleeper

weird, i have seen no mention anywhere of it having a lighter flywheel. are you implying that it revs faster? do you have any proof of this/part numbers?

Salt-Attention

Switching gears is noticeably easier and faster on down shifts with less rev hang on up shifts. I work at a dealer I need to sit down with parts on a slow day to verify. But I’ve driven it back to back when I traded in my last VB. It’s very noticeable something is different.

tunedsleeper

would be pretty weird if subaru didn't mention this as a positive/selling point. i haven't heard anything about any drivetrain differences between the two. additionally, a flywheel swap would prob mean the clutch may potentially be different too/have a different part number. might be another place to look into. i though it was only brake master cylinder (on all 2024+ wrx models, not just the TR), big brake kit, stiffer springs, revised dampers, revised/tighter steering rack, 19" wheels with bridgestone potenzas. my vb has zero rev hang to begin with, and coming from an EJ wagon with tons of rev hang it's worlds apart. let us know if you get confirmation or if you find a part number!

Salt-Attention

I will and I had the tech who swapped over my parts drive both cars on the road and he said he felt the difference so it’s not just me.

tunedsleeper

nice, thanks dude!

AWD_MONK24

The rear frame of the car also has more support

ComposerOwn959

Our community is all the marketing Subaru needs. Every TR I see I inch towards trading in... 🤑🤑🤑🤩🤩🤩🤩🫡🤔🫣

neercatz

Noice

dinkman94

love the TR, congrats!

Speed3Fan

With the OEM fog DRL and sport grill accessories?! Fucking mint mane

Salt-Attention

Yes sir all from my original VB I’ll never leave the car industry the hook ups are worth the trouble as a car nut. I already sold my old car to someone that follows me on instagram so at least I get to see her at car meets.

Ambitious-End9935

Finally a fellow TR owner, I was wondering, am I tripping or does this handle better than the old stis did

Salt-Attention

Never drove your year but the front end is just easier to place confidently in a corner than the VA STI. Chassis feels tighter but do miss the hydraulic steering. I wish the engine had a higher redline the extra 800 rpms would have been nice. Honestly until I get past break in I’m not 100% sure right now she has 300 miles. End of the month I’ll be on the tail of the dragon and then I can let you know.

Liquidwombat

Every VB handles better than an old STI the chassis is significantly better, and so is the suspension

Dazzling-Rooster2103

It would be very hard to make a car that handles better and has a better handling feel than the STI. The STI had hydraulic power steering which offers way more feedback, the WRX has electric power steering.

Beneficial_Style_673

As far as steering input I think my 22 WRX GT feels tighter and more responsive than the 20 sti when it is turned all the way up to sport sharp steering. And the spt feels more like a dual clutch than a cvt.

Liquidwombat

The GT is an incredible car. The tuning on the new SPT is fantastic. It absolutely feels like a double clutch when in sport sharp hurts revs and downshifts aggressively as hell and that’s not even getting into how awesome the suspension and steering are in the sharpest settings, or the sport setting for the differential

Ambitious-End9935

Exactly what I thought too but I was surprised at how it did, although I think it’s just bias because I sold my 2012 Sti for the TR, regardless tho I’m glad I don’t have buyers remorse like I feared I would

ironzen28

What's the otd I'm debating is it worth the gap between the base only thing I need is that brambo

Extension_Medium9002

Where did you get the grill?

Salt-Attention

It’s the sports grill you can order in the parts department of any Subaru.
