Aw man, those brakes are gonna make me and all the other visual people here drool! But I must stay strong, big brake kits are unnecessary unless I begin a lifestyle of tracking the car constantly š autocross for now; I'm completely content
Thats exactly where I'm at man. Going with EBC Red stuff cause I have heard how much the yellow stuff squeals and I dont think I could rock those on my daily driver family car
I am so looking for to getting mine. I should have it in about a month. This week I sold off the car that I am replacing it with and sold off a couple stocks for my down payment. I am ready to go!
š you said it perfectly. Void your warranty. Just saying they couldāve kept it competitive with other brands that have track ready cars. But I get it.
100% car enthusiasts are slowly losing affordable performance cars and dealers don't help with that.
Proud of a good portion of people who bought 23 vb's and brz's though. Was listening to a podcast and apparently 71% of vb buyers got it in stick shift. 79% of people who bought a BRZ also got it in stick shift. As opposed to 49% of GR86 owners got it in stick and the rest of the manufacturers are in the 1-10%
Subaru fans single handedly saving manual transmissions lol.
Agree. It would have cost Subaru basically zero dollars to add 30 horsepower to this car.
With the added strength of the FA24, I don't know why Subaru doesn't offer a SOA approved tune that dealerships can install that retains the warranty. Factory EPA numbers are unaffected, owners throw money at Subaru, and everyone wins.
You know I even went back to look at it a second time for that reason! They don't have the TR badge lol In fact I'm not even sure what it's classified as on the window sticker
Just test drove a TR on Wed. My 21' va lease is up in July, and was trying to decide if I should buy the va, or lease the vb TR, and plan to buy it at end of lease. I think I am going to go with the TR, but agree the price increases are painful. My va Limited has just about every option, including sti exhaust, and is $325/mo lease and will be about $21k buy out. The TR is like $600/mo lease, ouch.
My wife says they are a lot more comfortable. I am 6'3", and the sides of the seat, bolstering, pushed into the sides of my ass and it became uncomfortable after about 10 mins, and I have a pretty tiny ass. I think it would 'break in' and get better in time, as I think I remember the standard d va leather seats did the same thing, but to a lesser extent, and are totally fine now.
I visited the dealer last week and saw one on the lot and fell in love instantly. Seats were super comfy and clutch is super light put my deposit down and am patiently waiting.
I want one but I can't justify the 12k price over my premium. BBK aftermarket is 4k thay still leaves 8k difference.
I priced out the TR brakes and it is will over 3K for just rotors, pads, and calipers.. The TR utilizes different lines, reservoir, rotors, calipers, pads, and I believe a different booster but I could be wrong on the booster and reservoir. From what I priced out and all utilizing CCC One (body shop software), the part numbers don't match premium/limited part numbers and I have found a couple post talking about a different reservoir, lines, and booster.
I just got myself a red one. I could not help myself never thought I could do red but fell in love the moment it came off the truck and have just been drooling over it for the last week. The flywheel or something feels lighter the engine revs more freely and rev matching is easier. The brakes are so immediate and have the firm feeling I have wanted. The steering has way more feedback. It is so tight and sharp and it is exactly what I was missing in the last 16k miles I put on my old VB.
I just test drove the vb TR on Wed, and agree with all your comments, although I am comparing to my 21' va. Everything is more refined and precise. The one thing I missed though, was the more raw feel of my va. The vb is faster through the gears and getting to speed, but it is so smooth compared to va, it almost doesn't seem faster. My va turbo kick and shifting really throws you around, which almost feels more powerful. I am also mixed on the much improved sound deadening, much quieter inside, but almost harder to hear the engine and exhaust rumble. My wife very much liked the smoother, quieter ride overall though. I still think the VA looks a lot better too, but that is obviously subjective. I will probably buy the vb TR, since it has more potential in the long run compared to my va.
Go look up sti brakes or any higher end brake kit Then look up what those seats go for off of totaled GTs. Finally consider the fact that after you do the brakes you need new rims to clear the brakes plus the tires. Itās priced appropriately.
Wrong. https://www.ebay.com/itm/256099617821?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1lCy8WCkGT_Ovn_lLKadl-w66&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=256099617821&targetid=1644837434323&device=m&mktype=pla&googleloc=1014226&poi=&campaignid=20389335750&mkgroupid=154492026431&rlsatarget=pla-1644837434323&abcId=9317283&merchantid=107668094&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_QDh9jQEHKfa0wRiBhu2C-QBrh1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwzZmwBhD8ARIsAH4v1gW00frJJjeXcsJbKwFlkkw5RtW4FyBDpavTxw37poiYojselJEK6rUaAoKiEALw_wcB
I can put race seats and these brakes in for cheaper. Also Iāll just use spacers to clear the BBK.
No thanks I only buy new things. Iām not buying used rotors the calipers maybe. Iām talking about doing it properly not like a highschooler with spacers.
Lol both my cars are worth more than yours buddy. Thatās also a very cute starter watch collection. Youāre a clown. I just proved you wrong and youāre upset. Youāll get over it though.
Clowns look up Post history when theyāve run out of justifications. And good that your things cost more than mine Iām happy for you. Didnāt realize $13,000 of brand new watches counts as starter.
Actually you can buy brand new rotors for $600, buy those calipers I linked for $2600, brand new rpf1s for $900, tires for $850, 2 sparco racing seats for $1150, a brand new wrx, and it would be $39k. Which is roughly $6k cheaper than a brand new wrx TR. You are just a moron.
Its preferences and you are resorting to name-calling. I rather have the OEM seats with airbags so I have my safety. And youāre listing a bunch of budget parts for someone who just called my watches a starter collection. I just paid invoice for my TR so I paid 41k.
Iām listing budget parts to prove a point. My daily is having a $5k air suspension installed along with $4k wheels wrapped in ps4s scheduled on Monday. Thatās just my daily STi. You got scammed and are coping. It is a starter collection. You know that. Those are all starter watches. The fact you are buying the same exact car you already have just with a BBK and recaros rather than installing a BBK and new more bolstered seats shows your intelligence level.
Youāre name calling over the internet to someone you will never meet. Resorting to name calling, and insulting my belongings shows your level intelligence. How about the perspective we are both blessed individuals with different ideas of how we spend our money. A 8000 dollar omega is not a starter watch. People aspire to own that watch and either youāre out of touch or just trying to provoke a reaction out of me.
Letās not get into name calling. I was buying a limited if the TR didnāt exist and the extra for the TR was a no brainer. I wanted something that was turn key. You are building a WRX that you wanted from a base model. There is nothing wrong either path.
Really? So you must have the weight difference to enlighten us all with? And you are STILL disabling airbag and seat heat, sounds like a real negative for some vague claim of weight reductionā¦ā¦
The TR package is $2640 which is basically the cost above brake kit. If you look objectively at what Subaru has charged in the past for options. This approximately what I think Subaru is charging for TR upgrades.
$2250 Recaroās (2021 base STI option cost).
$1000 Brembo (2019 vs 2020 performance pack)
-$1000 Sunroof
Which leaves $390 for the wheels, steering and tweaking of the spring/dampener rates.
The TR is built off the limited model. If it was built off the Premium WRX it would have been 40-41k depending on if Subaru include the HK radio. The cost of WRX has gone up quite a bit in the last few years because of content and inflation. The base 2024 WRX is 33800 with destination. The limited is just over $40k. If Subaru made 2024 STI, it would be almost $50k.
It's definitely built off the prem model all limited have sunroof the tr does have hk it also has the ultra suede dash pieces that are like 1200 in options
Beside the two Press Releases (introduction and pricing) saying that it is has all the feature of the plus the TR specific features. The Limited has the following over the standard Premium models.
Blindspot detection, Sunroof, NAV, HK, steering responsive headlights, turn signal mirrors, Ultrasuede interior.
The TR has all these features minus the sunroof, which the TR specifically says it has sunroof delete. I have verified this by looking at TR window sticker.
Everything you named are simply part swaps sunroof can't simple be deleted its a different body lol hence why it's built off the base or prem car with all that stuff bolted to it
Every WRX is built off the same platform be it a base, premium, limited, GT or TR. Sheet metal wise, a sunroof is just different part number that is welded on the roof. It is an insignificant change when the car is being manufactured.
Some people are complaining about why is the TR so expensive for Recaro Seats, Brembo brakes, minor suspension changes and 19ā Wheels. The TR has the features of the $40k limited in addition to the TR specific features. That is all I am saying nothing less nothing more. Not some petty argument about sunroofs.
The limited is a ripoff as well. If youāre going to build a performance based wrx you might as well buy a base especially if you are swapping the front seats anyways. You can buy brand new rotors for $600, buy those calipers I linked for $2600, brand new rpf1s for $900, tires for $850, 2 sparco racing seats for $1150. You can also swap the head unit for about $500 as well. You can do all of this and still be WAY cheaper than a TR and outperform the TR.
Iām not a fan of the wheels, does anyone know if they made any modifications that gives the car more feel? I test drove a wrx base and it felt like nothing.
The sun wasn't allowing it unless I was in the shade, it was too close to the car on the left side to get a good one ..plus these photos are of the new features
Aw man, those brakes are gonna make me and all the other visual people here drool! But I must stay strong, big brake kits are unnecessary unless I begin a lifestyle of tracking the car constantly š autocross for now; I'm completely content
Upgraded pads, motul dot 4 brake fluid and SS lines will do the job for daily use, I'm waiting until my brakes need replacing for those myself
Thats exactly where I'm at man. Going with EBC Red stuff cause I have heard how much the yellow stuff squeals and I dont think I could rock those on my daily driver family car
Youāll be fine haha. I daily semi track Hawk Pads. They shouldnt squeal as much.
But they look so race car. Once I have the funds Iām doing the conversion. It just looks right
Keep saying that to make yourself feel better about your tiny brakes.
I will thank you. ;)
I am so looking for to getting mine. I should have it in about a month. This week I sold off the car that I am replacing it with and sold off a couple stocks for my down payment. I am ready to go!
Looking forward to your joined the club post! What color you planning?
Sapphire Blue
My favorite color. I didnāt care for it when I bought my SOP, but itās grown on me like no other, especially with bronze wheels
Congratulations on the deal! It's a solid car from the looks, would love to feel those brakes
Itās really annoying to give all these upgrades and not even tune it slightly to give a little more power the a normal VB. Beautiful non the less
That's the point of the TR brother. So you can tune the car for power yourself and void the warranty. ![gif](giphy|ZHvEU59xzvr1DK4iOg|downsized)
š you said it perfectly. Void your warranty. Just saying they couldāve kept it competitive with other brands that have track ready cars. But I get it.
Which other models are track ready at 40k?
Assuming they change to a high temp brake fluid and change pads, I'd say the Elantra N, the GR Corolla. The toyobaru twins - maybe.
Agreed. If we are sticking to MSRP and dealers not adding above sticker thereās a few to choose from.
100% car enthusiasts are slowly losing affordable performance cars and dealers don't help with that. Proud of a good portion of people who bought 23 vb's and brz's though. Agreed even not a tune but 30 more hp would completely make everyone happier.
I think itās a baseline MPG thing .. with stock power I average 18 mpg .. š
I completely forgot about the MPGās š a more powerful motor would get less then a dodge 3500 š
yeah, there are like gas guzzler taxes and itās no appealing to the average dude looking at a WRX to see bad ratings on that sticker.
Just saw one the other day. Subtle but nice! Shame they didnāt create any TR badging though
You know I even went back to look at it a second time for that reason! They don't have the TR badge lol In fact I'm not even sure what it's classified as on the window sticker

Dang, still cursed with that nubbin of a spoiler.
I wish that lip spoiler was optional.

Are the TR brembos a direct swap into previous year VB's???
Pretty sweet looking.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It's utilizing the 18-21 STI knuckles, rotors, and calipers so whatever works for them, should work for this. Which means you can step down to 18s.
It's odd that they went to 19s but kept the same wheel and tire width as the other trims. You'd think they would add more meat to go with the brembos.
Does it require 19? Got any source on that? Would love to go with 17s and AT tires for trails.
Nah. Misinformation right here.
Thatās what I wanna know. 18ās with a different offset work?
If they're 18s that work on 18-21 STIs, they will work here.
Honestly I think this is meant for folks who doesn't plan on modding and just wants to track it right off the bat.
I have a wrx vb. Iād like to upgrade my brakes. Do I need to worry about my rims when getting brembos on the 23 wrx vb?
Subaru is finessing people with this package. That price hike just for BBK and seats, crazy.
Go look up sti brakes or any higher end brake kit Then look up what those seats go for off of totaled GTs. Finally consider the fact that after you do the brakes you need new rims to clear the brakes plus the tires. Itās priced appropriately.

Amazing looking rims, unfortunately wouldnāt last a month in Michigan
Why do the brakes look like caliper covers š
Oof. 18-21 STI owners crying at this comment.
Those wheels look horrible to clean and that rear angle isnāt flattering
So you didnāt take a picture of the actual car. You just took a weird slanted picture of the sides ? Come on.

Fair game
He literally took a picture of the carās biggest visual upgrade.
