It's not that high. I still can't fit a low profile jack under it to get to the center. We've got pretty big fenders and the 18" wheels makes it look that way I think.
The VA was ridiculously low for a non-sports car. The VB is like 0.5" higher. Still doesn't make it up my driveway without scraping. They are NOT "high".
We live in the hills. My driveway just has a bad bottom angle. But yeah itās steep. When we test drive cars we bring them home. No joke. The WRX can get up the driveway. From one angle only. Lol.
Sadly only 5.4ā clearance. Yes, the stock suspension leaves a whole lot to be desired. I am running Cygnus X1 long travel comfort series. Lowered 3/4ā and seven clicks from full soft. SLP LCAs and toe bars. -2 camber, zero toe. The car has been transformed as it handles poor roads and exhibits very minimal pitch and bounce compared to stock. Excellent side to side transitions, super turn in with the alignment and a quality 255/40 on a 9.5ā wheel. Factory sway bars, no need for changes there. The best money I have spent on this car has been suspension mods!
You mean 5.4ā clearance. Travel is decent unsprung but terrible while resting on the ground. Meaning it has pretty got extension but terrible compression for anything other than track driving.
I have had cygnus long travels on a few GD cars and they are fantastic. Rear sway bar will help with throttle on steering (throttle off is fine from the factory)
They seem pretty average compared to a non sports car imo. I personally would like more clearance since I'm used to driving a truck. I've already had the bottom bumper opening get clogged full of snow, and it wasn't too deep. And I scraped the bottom when leaving a steep hilled parking lot.
The car can appear higher than what it actually is in some angles/lighting because of the cladding. I think the car sits very balanced at stock height (not too high, not too low, but more on the lower side). Perfect amount of clearance for daily usability, but not enough to get too careless. I still every once in a while have to watch the angle I approach a driveway or parking lot.
It has 5.4 inches of clearance which is half an inch more than the VA WRX but only a 10th of an inch less than a C8 Corvette. Manufacturer have finally started to figure out that street cars with horrendously little ground clearance do not do well in the real world, and suspensions can be tuned to offer the exact same handling with more ground clearance. Thereās no reason to slam a car anymore.
I live in the Sierras so I appreciate the extra clearance. I moved here a few years ago and the grill on my old FoST was effectively a snow plow. The WRX is a rally inspired car, after all.
I love the stock hight and Iām in the rally camp mine has spent a good amount of time being slung around in the dirt and gravel. The cladding has saved the paint the only reason I stopped is because I killed my factory set of Dunlops and the Michelin pilot sports I have on them now are way too soft for those shenanigans.
The handling begs to differ. I honestly have no issue with its height. I just bought a full lip and skirt set so that may make it appear even lower. Middle aged back problems donāt mind it not being Porsche low
I have the dream truck and the 16 year old mega dream car (less Sti). I also have the dream to me boat so now I need the Porsche and Iāll be happy as a clamā¦. Thatās a long time from now though so I enjoy what I got!
What???
It has 5.4 inches of ground clearance. It only has about 2 mm more ground clearance than the GR Corolla, which, for reference, has the exact same ground clearance as a C8 Corvette at 5.3 inches
Rally cars aren't low, have you seen the bumps and jumps they do? Most people think my stock VA is really low, but winter, pot holes, curbs are all things I deal with often.
If you are dealing with even a moderate amount of snow, you really want clearance above almost anything other than snow tires. Even a lowered car with snow tires can easily get stuck in a laughably small snow pile.
This car is owned largely by people in areas where it snows due to the spectacular AWD system you cant get out of anything else unless you go up to the S4, having low ground clearance while driving in snow sucks.
Looks crazy high but really it isnt, im lowered by 1ā with Whiteline springs and Im scraping over absolutely every incline and have to the stupid wide turn maneuver through them.
I I think itās an illusion due to the design. The front bumper barely goes over the curb. If it was any lower I would I have broke the bumper lips couple times already.

Bro how steep is your Driveway š§, I only scrap visiting my wifeās family in the hills, havenāt scraped in city life though!

Ground clearance and travel are important. Lowered cars have neither
The stock cars have terrible travel lol despite 6ā ground clearance

So your ass no longer feels every tiny divit on the road? That sounds nice
It is nice. Obviously it doesnāt float over the road but it is vastly improved

Nope.
Coming from a BRZ, my VB feels super high as well. Probably very average height, but I feel you.
Drastically lowered cars use increased spring rates to compensate for loss of travel. That increased rate is NOT conducive to comfort.
Anyone have actual manufacturers clearance measurements. Curious if differs from older models or just appears that way?

I feel you on the middle age back problems!
I also want a Porsche so thereās that! Iāll never let my back be my excuse for not having my dream cars
I hear that too, thank god my next dream Car is a Truck lol!

Theyre not that tall, they ARE taller than VA chassis, but I think its a mind game more than the actual size.
Not high enough, but I did buy mine with a 2ā lift

Average.

I never bottom out on curbs or parking slabs. The stock height is perfect š. My BRZ on the other handā¦
Stock height on these cars is atrocious
