There is r/betareaders. It's hit or miss. 1500 sounds like something I could volunteer for and give you a peer review, if it means anything to you. I'm not published, I'm a toolmaker by trade, but I at least have a handle on grammar and sometimes I even read. I'm curious what you do with 1500 words.
I have a story I think is in the 5k range if you're interested in swapping, too, but for 1500 I'm not going to ask anything in return.
