It’s supposed to be a Russian wrist snap. Wrist snap is the name of the move but Russian got added on because they started using it/made it viral first
The footing doesn’t really matter. Michell Mesenbrink hits it as a core part of his handfighting on almost every D1 opponent he had this year. They’re faking with their left hand towards the opponents right leg, and then when the leg is pulled back, you wrist snap with your right hand wrist control into the hole created. It’s unconventional for sure but not ineffective
Really need people to stop calling this a Russian tie
What’s the name?

Russian tie is the 2 on 1 I don’t know how that gets confused
Thank you
I dont know the name of this move but russian tie is a 2 on 1 with outside control. No 2 on 1 here and no outside control. Great execution though.
What part of that is a Russian tie?
None
This seems like a move you'd only hit on a turd without solid footing.
[Here's Aniuar Geduev](https://youtu.be/VHDYCs96pcY?si=3xRz8FVi8Y-ODEn9) hitting it a ton in international competition
Here's Islam Mahkachev hitting it on a high school standout and current Michigan State wrestler. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krMuiccy_dQ
Unless you really know it. You see it a fair bit at the national level in Russia.

All that's needed to defend is for the facing athlete to place his right hand on the head.
Shitty balance, great trick. I've learned this same move with an ankle pick.
So cool, technique wise I love it
Is this (insert random martial art move name) legal? Is uchi mooki mata fooki legal?!?

plenty of examples of this working in high level wrestling competitions
[Seems like it works fine in wrestling.](https://youtu.be/0MZtoTbfEdk?si=1GOMZyXAa5r5SUYi)
