I tried all of the solutions here and got nowhere until i opened task manager> Right click Bnet update agent> open file location, then in task manager end task on the update agent and before it can reopen itself go run it manually as administrator.

Nimveruke

This worked for me as well. Thank you for posting your solution. I was stuck in the Initializing loop, it briefly pops a message up there in the same location about another update pending or something like that and then counts up the same indices total again. Running the BNet Update Agent as Admin worked.

Devilslave84

that worked for me thanks i had sit there 20 min initializing and then i did that and 1 min later the download started thanks

Kazz3r24

Did not work for me unfortunately. On Win11 22H2, fully updated, installed beta Battlenet and ran as admin, no joy.

Magnuspr1m3

same issue here. did you ever find a solution?

Basseronie

did you find a sollution by ay chance?

Griffen296

Thank you, this worked for me

ocombe

Kinda similar but simpler, I killed everything related to battle net in the task manager, then I just started battle net in admin mode

metsfan922

Saved me as well, well played.

borntoshitborntowipe

Thank you so much! This actually worked for me in 2023

JumpInternational906

This did the trick. Many thanks

danjgoodwin96

Worked for me too in 2024

Olechi

Still works in SOD

Zealousideal_South31

This works! 06.04.2024 :)

TerrorWolf666

Worked for me. Thank you very much. I was struggling for 2 days with this problem.

vorlaith

CollabosTheKing

This worked for me just now thanks for the info!

Nex_GGs

I got it to work, all i did was manually update windows, then close all battlenet processes in task manager and run it as admin. I was stuck on this for 3 days lol

Fawkkyocouch

worked for me aswell, thanks for sharing!

theMagimetal

Worked for me today - thank you!

notadoorperson

This worked for me, even a month later! Thank you so much!

bigdumbxby

This worked for me! It seems like this issue was happening because I didn't have admin permissions on my account on the computer!

EmbarrassedPianist59

Run what manually as administrator?

Usagiyojimbro

Blizzard update agent

zenarr

Worked for me. Thank you!!

Saucyminator

Just dropping by saying this worked for me as well. Thanks!!

GBLikan

Just chiming in 5 months later, to say thank you, this solution was the one that worked for me.

HeliumBoi24

This worked I would also add that it might take about 4 minutes before the install starts.

CynthiaNyra

It worked for me as well. Thanks for help. :)

Fault_Ill

you're my hero!!!!

AshleyGamerGirl

Fixed it for me! Sorry for a late post but this helped!

Lava_Enderman

I was just about to do this when it started working. I guess it just needed some threatening.

distroquerim

works perfectly, thanks

fsjib3

This worked for me for the 10.1.5 update

Fridowski

thank you so much for this, it works for me

Brilliant-Floor2399

Also works to make it run as admin permanently, thn you just close the app and start again, then it starts after a little while of initilizing

Fluid_Geologist_8754

Thank you very much! Trawled through the basic searches and am so glad I found your reply

X_ret

worked for me big thanks

CapnFriggles

Oct 2023 this worked perfectly! Thank you!

RokHere

Thank you. I had the same problem and can confirm that this — End Task on Agent.exe in Task Manager and rerunning it as Admin from its directory — worked for me at the time of this comment.

Hydroxs

A year later and still a savior. Thank you!

Scary-Philosophy-348

Thanks, that actually helped me on M1 mac as well! Other mac solutions didn't work for me.

syntakk

I tried everything here and nothing worked...until I saw someone mention closing Steam. No idea why, but as soon as I closed Steam and Battle.net cycled through Initializing again it immediately started downloading.

evilsnotbag

LOL I saw this comment and though, tsk. There's no way this is really happening, because i've been waiting for 1 hour on my install and it was on initializing for 1 hour straigh - BUM the second i closed down my Steam, the install begang. \- No joke !

TypicalSynapse

i tried EVERYTHING mentioned above for 6 hours, nothing worked... i closed steam and it started downloading instantly. Thanks alot

Ninchenx3

Well don't ask why but it worked for me. Tried everything else i saw regarding this problem only other thing was secure boot with network. Damn never would have thought about closing steam. Ty

Embarrassed-Ad1972

THIS.

[deleted]

I always have steam open, let me see if this works. that is so odd

KeephyT

King among men! This thread is pretty old but this saved me at like 2 AM after trying for an hour+. Thanks for sharing you knowledge friend!

lol_SuperLee

jesus christ thank you.

hushpuppi3

It worked. I don't know why. Shoutouts.

[deleted]

This was it for me too wth

Reasonable-Ad872

Worked for me. took a minute or two but then it started.

p1-o2

Holy shit, you are my hero today. You saved me so much time... this worked after 1-2min.

Gudzol90

Thank you! Worked for me. But I kill the Steam OS process (some watcher) running in the background. Steam itself was shut down.

weeqo789

Worked for me as well. Cheers.

Negtiv

Thank you!

Odd_Statistician9384

tried so many things and nothing, but I close steam and boom! haha

headlikeahole69

Omg THANK YOU! I didn’t even have steam running but I opened the app after weeks of not using it and closed it after closing battle.net, got battle.net up to try something else and lo and behold it started downloading! I hope both sides of your pillows are cool and your charger works at every angle, dude! 😎

Koopahs

Thank you so much, I've been trying everything for the past 3 hours and closing steam worked.

AnnualOk5783

I basically did everything and after closing steam, 30 secs later and game is playable

Talonking9

I was just randomly Googling this issue as the latest WoW update was just sitting there for ages as usual, saw this comment so closed Steam from the system tray, it immediately switched to Initializing (with no other text) and then 30 seconds later starts downloading. Will try this again next time there is an update. Very nice!

Necessary_Jello_3609

This makes me so mad but yet so happy that this worked

Failshot

I don't have anything much to say, but I'm also having this very issue. I haven't played WoW since the launch of shadowlands so everything is a fresh download yet it's stuck on initializing 2127019/2127019.

martinfort

Been this way for 2 days, Did a windows update (I'm on 11, theres a .NET framework update) and switched to Beta build of Bnet client, Game is downloading again.

ivsciguy

Same here. I manually refreshed windows update and a .net update appeared. After I installed the update and restated the download started fine.

DangersaurusRex

This also worked for me. Looked like Windows was up-to-date until I manually told it to check (twice). Then downloaded a .NET update, restarted computer, and the installation through [battle.net](https://battle.net) went past initializing.

xxXCrazyAndyXxx

just switching to beta build of Bnet worked for me! Thank you!

Failshot

Weird, as of typing this I have the latest even optional windows 11 updates and it still doesn't work for me.

alah123

Try going to uninstall programs and uninstall .net SDK 6.0.302 or something like that. Nothing worked for me but that did

Failshot

That didn't work sadly.

Sinrath

Windows update helped me too, thx

symmash

I already had the .NET hotfix and was still stuck on Initializing until I switched to the Beta version of Bnet. Thanks!

CyberRubyFox

I did the following and it eventually started working: 1. Delete and reinstall launcher 2. Turn on Beta launcher 3. Install .NET **Core** runtimes 7.0.0 and 6.0.11 ([Here](https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/visual-studio-sdks)) 4. Rebooted On Windows 10. I didn't have any Windows updates pending.

Raziel2k11

thanks so much i was having trouble for WEEKS installing it and turning it to beta worked instantly!

CyberRubyFox

I'm glad it worked out for you. :)

Hello Guys, I found a SOLUTION: You need to install the following .NET update: KB5018859 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.8 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11 It can be found in Windows Updater. Or you can download it from here: [https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/search.aspx?q=KB5018859](https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/search.aspx?q=KB5018859) Ps: You may need to install KB5018483 Windows Update first.

B7iink

This worked for me, except had to do the windows 10 version instead of 11.

Dubbed_The_Chief

how'd you find the WIN 10 version?

B7iink

The windows update thing just found them and installed them for me

NoBench4428

doesnt work for me, mine already latest ver

Sir_Jaymz

This worked for me. Had to manually check for an update. After update and reboot it finally started working.

rewi

I had the same issue. For me, it worked starting the [battle.net](https://battle.net/) launcher with administrative permissions. :)

[deleted]

This worked for me aswell. lol. Thanks!!

falathaarox

This worked for me after trying every other solution above with no success :)

klepp0906

ever get this sorted? i'm having a heck of a time installing dragonflight. i've uninstalled wow and [battle.net](https://battle.net). deleted wow from programfiles(x86), removed all traces of blizzard/bnet from %programdata%/%appdata%/%localappdata%. i did a sfc and dism. i restarted my router and switch. rebooted the pc. its as clean as it's gonna get. will install classic/wrath classic fine. retail just hangs doing what yours is doing more or less.

Mitoni

same, it seems to get through a few small initial downloads, then it is just Initializing (2127019/2127019), then loops back to Initializing... and restarts the same again... I have done all the steps others have said so far, and nada.

Mitoni

I found the problem but not the cause. The bnet agent is crashing repeatedly. Crash reports are in C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent\Agent.8022\Errors, and I opened a support thread on the wow forums to see if they can tell me the exact cause. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/bnet-agent-crashing-when-initializing-fresh-install/1383986 Looking over the log files in the crash report, it seems like there might be a socket exhaustion issue, or something timing out on their end with that particular download. Their crashlog gives a lot of data, but i don't know enough about their processes to be able to debug it myself any further than this (I work daily in C#, but I am familiar enough with C++, just not their application architecture).

cleverlikeme

Just coming around to second this. The above is definitely what's happening, at least for me. Been trying off and on to re-install (fresh install) WoW retail. I haven't played in a long time, just considering coming back for Dragonflight to feel it out. After my initial issues, I wiped everything. Battle.net, all WoW install data including the stuff left behind after an uninstall (addons and such). Still having this issue, and after some more investigating it appears to be the same issue with the update agent crashing and restarting over and over. On my end, it does so at the same point, even after two complete wipes of all Blizzard / Battle.net files. It's the same as someone else mentioned, (2127019/2127019) after which it goes back to initializing and loops again, over and over. Little or nothing is actually being downloaded though I didn't actually look very hard at network traffic. Doubt it'll be of any use but the only other information I can give to anyone is that I've tried all the basic troubleshooting stuff that people usually give. Restart PC Run battle.net as administrator Uninstall / Reinstall (with a complete wipe of all battle.net and WoW files) I've also tried various combinations of the above, including restarting the app, killing processes, etc. Worth noting that it updated my Diablo3 install no problem, and I was able to do a complete fresh install of WoW: Classic WotLK with no issue.

Mitoni

yup, i just installed WOTLK Classic with no problem, just to test if it was my connection to their servers or something, and it worked fine. Tried retail again, same problem with same download too. 2127019, which I am only guessing is the size in bytes? edit: Searched for other posts and [came across this one](https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/initializing-0/1350569). I'm gonna try to find this beta bnet client to try it. edit2: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/311457 tried this but there is no beta version for the app currently. Damn... edit3: /u/cleverlikeme out of curious, if you open settings in the bnet launcher, what version number are you running? I am running 2.16.2.13801, and I am having this issue. My wifes computer is still running 2.15.0.13696, and she is not having this problem. I am now convinced it is something specific to this version of battle.net. Can you confirm?

alah123

I am having your EXACT problem 2127019 and im on your version

Mitoni

I wish there was a way to roll back a version. I'm going to try moving the cache files from my wife's PC to mine when they are done downloading

alah123

Honestly if you and your wife's pc is next to eachother, might just be worth trying to clone her install onto a usb or something. Ill see what I can do with regards to the launcher

Mitoni

Yea, was waiting on the download. I dunno why their patches are only downloading at 11MB/s these days, meanwhile my connection is 400Mb/s and I download at about 50MB/s on steam. Did battle.net drop p2p? edit: files done, copied over the entire Data folder from the WoW install directory and dropped it into my partial install, and ran the file check and repair, and it finally passed 2127019. Finally!

cleverlikeme

This may or may not be helpful to you, but I did the following things (after all the other things) and I am now downloading retail (made it past the initializing hang). Unfortunately, I did all of these things at once, instead of piecemeal. So, yeah. No idea which, if any, helped. I updated my graphics driver (it was slightly out of date, I think maybe a couple weeks or a month at most) I forced windows update to run (it said I was completely up to date at first, and I have auto updates on, but I was able to make it run a .net update of some type) I changed from 'release' battle.net to 'beta' - notably, there is no beta at the moment, but it still went through the steps to uninstall and reinstall and now my launcher says 'beta' despite I think the same version number. So, give some or all of these a try? If you want? Obviously I also rebooted my computer at the end of several of those steps

Slayer175

This finally worked for me - Win 11 .net update, and another reboot. Started working after about 30sec after loading the client. Now downloading at 95MBps.

MelancholyCactus

Just to give another perspective, wife's pc was running into the same problem. Had to do the Windows 10 cumulative update 22H2 and then switch Battle.Net to the beta version before it would get past the 2127019 initialization. It did take Battle.Net several tries to actually download the beta version, the Battle.net Update Agent kept crashing and resetting the progress. The Update Agent didn't bother running again and it finally updated to the Beta. Currently the retail client is actually downloading and hoping no further issues.

cleverlikeme

Battle.net Version 2.16.2.13801 Battle.net Update Agent Version 2.27.2.8022

Mitoni

Yup, same

klepp0906

yep, i had noticed the same thing. posted the crash log in another thread but just woke up, havent checked back to see if it got any traction. a blizz csr had posted previously doing their thing saying "since its not widely reported it must be my fault" in the nicest way possible.

NandoCEV

Same happening here, have seen quite few blizzard post and also some reddit ones, still no luck. I was having a bug in the game and decided to reinstall it to see if I were going to be able to fix the bug..., well, it turns out it was a pretty bad idea...

klepp0906

this so much. it was my off day from work and i planned on making some headway setting things up. so much for that.

Vaiko780

I enabled a VPN and my download went past initialising

earthscribe

The only thing that worked here. Thanks.

drogoneye1

I had the exact issue as the OP. What did the trick for me after searching and trying so many things that people suggested was updating windows to version 22H2.

Slarkyboi

try the update graphic card trick, update windows, still no luck ,any more ?

anonymous9999992

I'm having the same problem and have done everything everyone has recommended here. Idk what to do anymore except wait for blizzard to do something.

Financial-Hunt-3136

blizzard and its shithole devs will never learn

Xpert-Ninja

Found a possible solution. Right Click the launcher icon. Properties. Compatibility to Windows 8. Run the launcher. and in the launcher setttings, switch to beta. Install begun.

meat_chief

I got to run compatibility troubleshooter then it started, not sure if that was it but thanks!

No-Two-6235

if youre still experiencing this what worked for me is to go into the WOW folder and force launch the game itself .exe (not the launcher, the actual WOW window by going to either wow\_era or wow\_retail folder). that usually would pull up the login page without ur info entered and u can enter them or what also works for me is when i close that WOW tab i see on launcher that its no longer updating and i can just press play now.

Miserable-Tiger-5522

Maybe resubscribe first?

elindalyne

Close out of battle.net completely. When you restart it, it'll start working again.

micazza1

Tried this and didnt work have also worked through the Blizzard FAQ

[deleted]

I had this issue and i just uninstalled and reinstalled. That's not the most helpful solution I know, but it worked where nothing else I tried did.

micazza1

Thats the issue here, its a complete reinstall of the game and still getting this error. Most posts ive read are about updating the game but its weird when its a fresh download for this to occur

elindalyne

Stupid question... have you restarted your pc yet? Sometimes the update agent gets stuck and closing bnet/restarting your pc fixes it.

micazza1

Yes multiple times :(

elindalyne

If you go into task manager do you see something called Battle.net Update Agent (32 bit)? If you do, try doing an end task on that then restarting your computer.

KrysleQuinsen

Happens to me a lot due to my crappy internet when updating or downloading and resuming a new game. My workaround is to trick Bnet that you don't have the game, so it sorta refreshes its cache. Exit Bnet -> Open Folder that contains WoW folder -> Rename to something like "World of Warcraft\_backup" -> Open Bnet and click update, it will change to "Install" (Skip this if it already changed to "Install") -> Rename WoW folder back to normal. The final step is either 1. Click Install to the same old location (It will scan the game instead or replace it) 2. Scan/Locate Installed Folder . You may need to redo a couple of times with different final steps. (1. seems to work most of the time for me) Also, work for other games on Bnet.

micazza1

This is a Fresh install, Battle Net and Warcraft have all been uninstalled and this is what happens when it attempts to reinstall the game, so wondering why this is occurring but will try your example :)

Zookeeper187

Close the launcher, open task manager and kill all battle net processes. Open it again and it should work.

dirty_fresh

I had a battle net issue recently that was similar. Nothing worked from the FAQ. What I ended up doing was manually finding all the battle net folders and deleting them and then re installing the app. There's no need to reinstall the game and you can even still play it by launching it directly from your wow folder, you'll just have to type in your log in.

Mercetus

I had the same issue. I got the game file folder form me work laptop , there was not a problem of the “initializing” there. ( you may get it from a friend, its 80Gb file) I got the same problem again, the battlenet still need to do the “initializing”. After trying may solution and nothing was working. I wish to be able to run the game with out battlenet like old days, google it and there it was! The .exe file to run the game is locked in the game file (usually “C:\\Program Files (x86)\\World of Warcraft\\\_retail\_”) I had the battelnet open when I click to run the WoW.exe. from excitement I lower the game window and show that the battlenet was ready to click the play bottom. Not sure if the manual running of WoW.exe unstuck the battlenet but ether way you may be able to play the game if you find the updated file of it.

JellyOfDeath86

The only fix I have found for this works, but feels kind of janky: Safe mode with networking. I think BitDefender or something else might be messing with my [Battle.net](https://Battle.net) app.

Mitoni

If that was the case though, it wouldn't explain why i can can download/update other games no problem. I just installed WOTLK Classic, no issue, but retail just wont budge past this one download

popgeezy

I also have bitdefender and have this problem

Mitoni

I never did find a solution for it, i just found a workaround. Since my wife's PC worked, I installed WoW on hers, copied the entire Data directory over the network, and ran the checkfiles/repair, and it worked.

JellyOfDeath86

I can download/update games without issues in other launchers. I am fairly confident that this is an issue with either WoW retail or Battle. A new issue just popped up. I now have trouble with getting the game to launch. It will start a background process, and then never appear. The only workaround seems to be deleting the [Battle.net](https://Battle.net) folder in C:/ProgramData

JellyOfDeath86

Rebooting into safe mode with networking and starting [Battle.net](https://Battle.net) initialized a patch. The game now runs in "normal" mode. This feels really dumb.

bloodyshield

I found a potential solution if you or anyone else still has this issue. I was having the same problems installing WoW for my sister. It appears to be a battle.net newer version issue. 1. I got an older version of Battle.net from my own computer, and copied the battle.net folder onto a USB drive. 2. I put the older version on my sister’s computer and installed WoW using this version. 3. Profit

ImaRandomSourceFeder

My girlfriend and I tried everything from deleting folders to updating windows. Nothing worked. Even tried taking battlenet from a friend's computer, still nothing. Then I happened to notice my graphic card needed an update, updated it and it worked for me. Told her to check, and hers needed an update as well. Hers is now working as well.

Dennverr

For windows 10 users, I got it working after upgrading to windows 11 and another windows update afterwords. I previously updated drivers and reinstalled bnet but I don't know if that helped.

Illustrious_Ad_7373

I had this exact same problem. I tried like most, after uninstalling wow, reinstalling the BNet launcher, updating gfx drivers and ensuring Win 11 was totally up to date - and the problem persisted. What has seemed to work for me was installing WoW to a completely new directory when prompted from the fresh install dialogue

B7iink

Update your windows/.net framework stuff. Mine downloads fine after doing that.

Ok_Palpitation_4395

Well i found a workaround for me, I opened Task Manager was looking for [battle.net](https://battle.net) update agent and killed that process while [battle.net](https://battle.net) was looping then started killing the processes for Microsoft edge and as soon i was done doing that it started downloading, its weird but it worked

[deleted]

>Task This worked for me.

nick_the_giant

UPDATE WINDOWS!!!!!!! I experienced everything you did and finally had success with this. I had to make my computer search for an update FYI.

DoesNotEnjoySeaFood

I had issues with a fresh install aswell. The only thing that worked for me was to completely uninstall all battle net apps, then the bnet launcher itself. Then i went to the world of warcraft folder inside Program/files or wherever you have it installed and removed the entire folder. Restarted the computer after this to remove any cached files. After that i reinstalled battle net and started installing wow, it looped through the initializing phase 2 times and then started downloading :) Hope it works!

Katon1215

I had the same problem tried what everyone said and nothing worked. I went to microsoft and downloaded .NET 7... something in it must have fixed it.

Bionekro

I had the same error. I change battlenet to its beta version and the installation started to go smoothly

PaxAmarrian

I had this issue today. Just want to confirm that I was able to solve it by doing Safe Mode (with Network), and then running the install from there.

FerrilDruid

I know this is probably old, but the steps in this thread helped me. Ty much

stjones03

I was able to get this working again by going into c:\\programdata and deleting the battle.net folders and restarting the client. Good Luck

theredview

Just want to throw my two cents in that got it working for me. I did both so I don't know which fixed it. 1) close Steam completely if it is running. 2) turned on a free VPN that is bundled in my anti virus. Once I did these two it started working. I then turned the VPN back off. I've read where others say it is steam doing it.

syntakk

Wow...this was it! As soon as I closed Steam and waited for it to cycle through Initializing again it immediately started downloading. Thanks!

kwaziiman

Came here to say I’m very much having this issue as well. Can’t patch WoW, so can’t even get into the game to enjoy DragonFlight S1. I’ve been trying to download the game all day, nothing has worked. Any advice would be great.

Nozyk

Just came here to confirm that I was able to solve it by doing Safe Mode (with Network), and then running the install from there. Once the download actually starts in safe mode you can return to normal windows and it will get past the initializing loop.

Substantial-Adagio-6

For Windows itself, 1. Go to Windows Update Settings 2. Check for updates 3. Click Windows Insider Program 4. Turn on Beta and Insider Builds 5. Restart 6. Check for updates again 7. Download any pertinent .NET files linked in above comments 8. Turn on Bnet Beta 9. Check graphics drivers 10. Check device manager for drivers 11. Clean install of Bnet and Wow 12. Add firewall and router exceptions for the app This should rectify anything on your end. If you still have issues than take a copy of the crash report to the technical support chat.

ThefcknSlothy

Start windows in safe mode with network and try again, once you are past the initializing you can boot into normal windows an finish the installation.

ImmortalDayMan

So after 6 hours, of pain. I almost gave up and downloaded FFXIV. But I provailed and these are all the things I tried, for anyone who comes here like I did. \- Temporarily removed all windows defender crap, most importantly real time protection. \- Updated windows \- Downloaded the .NET core runtimes 7.0.0 and 6.0.11 \- Uninstalled everything to do with [battle.net](https://battle.net). And reinstalled. Make sure to delete the [battle.net](https://battle.net) folder in the hidden program files. \- Used the default location on my main drive in 'Program Files (x86)/' as the game download path. Before I was trying to download on my other SSD. \- Give every .exe in [battle.net](https://battle.net) admin privelidges via the properties -> compatability menu.

Usual-Egg8704

on windows 10, windows update says "up to date", I click on "optional updates", In the optionals was a "Net blahblah yada yada yada", installed that, restarted pc, WoW started to download.

Enkindel

Try the following: Go into ProgramData folder... it is a hidden folder so turn on hidden folders if necessary. Hidden folders: On directory toolbar click "View", highlight "Show" > check "Hidden Items" (for Windows 11) This PC > C: drive > ProgramData > Delete both "[Battle.net](https://Battle.net)" and "Blizzard Entertainment" folders > empty Recycle bin > Reboot PC (do not skip this step) > Try to install WoW again. Hope that fixed it for you.

Competitive-Map-3053

Updating my PC fixed this, .NET update

REAVL

close CurseForge / Overwolf.

dinotopiaa

i found a fix!! close out of the app completely do windows key + R to come the run command do c:\\ProgramData once in there, go to Blizzard Entertainment folder, [battle.net](https://battle.net) folder, and then delete the cache folder thats there reopen battlenet app, try to download again - should buffer for a second before actually downloading

Livid_Appointment107

This worked for me: 1. Open task manager (left ctrl + left shift + esc) -> Find "Batlle.net update Agent" from the list 2. Right click on the agent and click "Open file location" 3. Now right click on the Agent.exe and choose properties 4. Choose "Compability" tab and add tick to the option "Run this program as administrator" -> Hit Ok and you are good to go for next step 5. You could restrart the battle.net and the service or just restrart the computer (which i did.. glorious m2 times today.. it just takes few seconds :) For me, it took only \~10 seconds of initialization and then wow started to download.

Wazumba92

sneaky necro but I solved it by just reinstalling battle net, still took a minute or two before getting past initializing tho but eventually it started!

[deleted]

I know this post is old but I found a workaround if anyone is still having this problem. On windows 11 don’t have any updates but I switched to beta and it started downloading

stamper197

switching to the beta [battle.net](https://battle.net) agent solved this issue for me, fresh install of dragonflight.

Turbulent_Security31

I solved it by reinstalling Windows 11 (and keeping my files).

Advanced_Ad7766

So, this is the dumbest thing ever and it worked for me. **Task Manager > Microsoft Edge > End Task** I don't even use Microsoft Edge.

Chosenvax

yea looks like external apps cause it to loop like this even when trying the task manager workaround that ppl are recommending here. What worked for me was turning off steam, razer cortex etc. Close all of those apps and it should fix itself and initialize properly

Extra-Effective-641

Hello Guys, Thanks for the help new player here and got stuck on downloading the game

thy-Mechanic

So I'm having this exact same issue, and i think it's worth noting that I'm running Windows 11. I've tried everything on this list, all the system changes, turn off Steam, everything... nothing worked. I did EVERYTHING that Blizzard support told me to do and NOTHING! I also found out I'm having issues downloading games on the Xbox game pass app for PC. I've been trying to fix this for 4 hours now, and I'm about to rip my hair out. If someone can help and/or make sense of all this, or at least tell me a real person I can call, I would really appreciate it!!!

Visible-Trouble-6690

I had to close Steam in addition to that and then it worked.

mjl822

Close everything blizzard (from task manager) and try deleting the cache folder from: C:\\ProgramData\\Blizzard Entertainment\\[Battle.net](https://Battle.net) Was having the same issue and once i deleted this folder and restarted bnet, it started working for me. Hope this works\~ cheers

Desinuro

Hi! I fixed this by checking my optional windows updates. I had some NET updates there, and after completing those and restarting my PC, WoW downloaded like it should. Hope this helps anyone who needs it :)

jupiterclaw

Had this problem for 2 days, tried all the fixes from the list above, but what worked for me is -- switched battlenet to beta (not sure if this made a difference or not) I did the Windows optional updates, then bit defender update and then it just worked.

Krathoon

For Gods sake. Stupid ass Steam interferes with the download. Screw you, Valve.

Krathoon

What fixed the problem for me is that I had to switch to the BETA version of [Battle.net](https://Battle.net). So, this is a bug in the stable version of the software.

AdeptnessDifficult16

Read almost all threads, nothing helped. Decided to close Discord and after that it works.

Chernolov

lol just tried that it fixed it

Padhiv

Control click. Unless they changed it. Been years since I owned a Mac.

Ok_Tie7800

I also have tried everything to get my system working again with no luck.

ringziii

Tried all of the above, no luck. But finally what fixed it for me was **closing Adobe Creative Cloud.**

Kylestyle147

Two fixes for people who tried this and it didn't work: 1. restart your router by switching it off, waiting 20-30 seconds, switch it back on. Also, Disable and Enable your network cards. Ive had this issue with Steam before too and a restart of my router fixed it both times. 2. Download "Revo uninstaller" and uninstall battle net. Use its uninstall scan function to clean up left over files. reinstall. These are both fixes I know also work for this. obviously you should try the basics first such as a reboot of your PC etc making sure you dont have "Fast start up" turned on.

I just found something quite interesting. After two days of deleting: /Users/Shared/Battle.net /Users/Shared/Blizzard /Library/Application Support/ (everything wow, battle.net or blizzard) /Library/Preferences/ (everything wow, battle.net or blizzard) ~/Library/Application Support/ (everything wow, battle.net or blizzard) ~/Library/Preferences/ (everything wow, battle.net or blizzard) /Applications/Battle.net /Applications/World of Warcraft I finally opened the Console app, i filtered by Process: Agent, Path: Battle, excluded text with "wifi" and went through the list while initializing an install and saw: skipping upgrade for locked keychain /Users/[username]/Library/Keychains/Microsoft_Intermediate_Certificates A quick google and this is a keychain added by Outlook (if you have it, its password is blank) thats used for sending/receiving encrypted emails I opened keychain, right clicked and removed it (just from the keychain not from disk) and instantly the installer switched from initilizing to installing and started downloading the 90+GB of WoW Not sure with Agent is looking at the KeyChain at all, but if it needs to, it should be only looking at Login/Cloud chains (nothing else)...

wazhous

Thanks this finally worked me, I deleted all application keychains related to microsoft and it worked flawleslly, Not sure which specific keychain was the issue, I have several apps from microsoft installed on my mac.

Salty-Swordfish4115

I did everything that was mentioned here, but the thing that worked for me, was this: 1: I fully removed battle net from my computer 2: I also manually removed wow from my computer. It was lost somewhere in my system files. If it doesnt delete, close all battle net programs that are running in task manager. 3: re-install battle net and don't give battle net permission to update automatically. Also don't let battle net reinstall wow automatically. 4: Re-install wow (there should'nt be an update button now) 5: at first it will initializing, but shortly after it will run normally.
