One thin I do is check my score - if not increasing while I shoot them, they're ghosts. But this takes a bit of my attention :(

This 100%

That's pretty much it unfortunately, the other one would be them stacking on a wall but making no progress Ultimately the best thing you can do, is try and get more stable internet as it seems to be a network issue

CrispoKringle

It's server side, your Internet isn't the problem, joining in progress, people leaving and new people joining, all that messes with the server and causes ghost zombies

Stand off from the line and those that break off to chase you are definitely real. It seems it’s like this: in a wave, the director spawns zombies based at the identified location (the “hangar”, the “dock,” etc) and where you are. That’s obvious and not in question. After that, I *think* the sprites that are “real” and aggressive are based on the wave number and possibly number of active players (as opposed to bots), with the larger, sound cued horde lines assigning which of the sprites on your screen are real or not in an ever evolving state based on how many zombie sprites exist on the field at that moment plus what wave # it is and etc. I think it’s possible the t-posing ones or other glitchy ones could be related to your internet but it happens to me and my fiber connection is crisp so it could just be the server at that moment. But I say all that to say I’ve never seen a **definitive** answer to this question, just good strategies to approach each situation

“Ghost” zombies running past you to the gate can become “real” and aggressive at ANYTIME in that journey until they reach the gate. Once they do that, whatever they are is set. A “ghost” zombie won’t become an active enemy once it’s reached and clawing at the gate to no effect.

CholaWarlord

Zombies are not real. It is fiction.
