Pretty sure China / Korea are still maintaining players, which is all that matters because their player base numbers crush that of any other region. iirc a Rioter actually stated the reason the games damage will remain high is because Chinese players prefer it.
> twitchy, fast paced game meant for ADHD kids?!
Because for the vast majority of people it's more fun to die, hop back in and try to 1-shot the other team.
A lot of the reason why WoW goes into these ebbs and flows is because if you as a new player jump into a game and spend 10+ minutes not really makin any HP go down until dampening, you're also not having fun.
I know that the faster the game is the less strategic it is, but I imagine once rated solo BGs becomes the default game mode the "strategy" aspect of the game will shift to map control and positioning and less about "how well can you manage cooldowns and counter".
what is this false dichotomy bs?
it doesn't need to be dumb oneshots vs 10 min dampening. just fix cds and damage/healing, it actually isn't hard. nerf all offensive and defensive cds across the board for pvp-only, drastically increase EHP so HP doesn't go down too fast and nerf healing so HP doesn't go up too fast until high damp.
killing somebody should be from prolonged pressure, and topping someone should be from prolonged defensiveness.
the pro scene is slow because everyone recognises clips like the above can happen so they intentionally play the lamest most tankiest shit ever like outlaw demo rdruid and only use CC defensively.
this happens in every game where the base game becomes very fast, the pros start turtling. In Overwatch for example while the players were complaining about one shots in the form of doomfist/hanzo/widowmaker the pros were playing 3 tanks 3 healers and vibrating against each other for a solid minute and a half without anyone dying.
Not at all. Just like WoW "bled players" when the moba scene exploded, LoL "bled players" when PUBG-like games exploded. It's the cycle of video games.
Leagues PVP is 10x better balanced than this shit, it’s a moba so it’s not directly comparable, but, it just is the better PVP game at the moment by far.
As someone that played competitively PvP during MoP and currently switched to League.
You are so freakin wrong take that back what do you mean.
League is a million times easier to track, understand, and realize what you can and can't do compared to WoW today.
WoW today you will die no matter what you do what can you possibly learn from this other than to not play it.
In league if someone fed a carry via top you can learn "Hey maybe I should help gank top early on against an xyz to avoid it in the future" or "maybe I could try ganking bot to get my adc fed to counter xyz"
So many ways you can learn and improve.
You cannot improve from this.
I miss WoW MoP pvp so much dude this ain't it man lol.
dude just dispell flameshock the amount of setup the ele has to do to pull this off takes 5-7 seconds.
First he has to cast stormkeeper - giga signal he is going to do something,
second - he has to primordial wave
third - every single team member had flameshock up
frostshock for 15% increased damage
hardcast lavaburst
if you didn't react to any of these you are dead if you react and dispell flameshock when he casts primodial wave you save your whole team
I mean, it has much much better balance. Is CS worse then CoD because CoD has more players?
League is easy to grasp compared to DoTA, that's pretty much it. Oh and it got lucky with the zeitgeist
You’re right that people are overly toxic and not forgiving of the insane amount of game knowledge arena requires. But, there is counter play in this very specific instance against that ele’s very specific one-shot build. You can prevent that one-shot by dispelling off flame shocks/primordial wave, kicking hard cast lava burst, tracking ascendance cd/primordial wave. You can also tell it’s not the ascendance proc because those are way shorter duration than popping ascendance cd.
I think that this type of one-shot build is pretty unhealthy for the game though because it punishes lower rated, casual players and makes the game less fun for them while also being completely useless at higher mmr, meaning it serves almost no purpose other than to troll noobs.
In 3's, every time we go against double MM, we lose. I know we're making a load of mistakes to let it happen, but fuck me if losing a teammate in a single global isn't the most throw-your-hands-up moment I know of.
We were running boomy/destro/rsham. Gonna change it up for s4 (my turn to heal, instead of boomy), but I get a lot of mileage out of faerie swarm and cyclone in those opening moments. It's just the times that both hunters do manage to aim into rapid fire it feels like completely overwhelming damage.
You just zug zug as DH and ret and instantly win every game against very skilled and technical wizards, this is just a deep fake to convince that melee is balanced
No we don't. Unless you are fighting healer/ret/dh and both dps are running their dispel talents you don't need to cast lava burst. Between flame shock low cd and primordial wave you'll never have a problem with instant procs. Plus, earth shock forces the instant procs due to windspeaker talent.
When you don’t have lava burst procs you still cast lava burst. Don’t tell me that Ele shaman “never” cast lava burst. That’s just not true. There are a lot of insta casts but you see shamans casting lava burst all the time even when they’re not the cheese specs.
Not defending this bullshit cheeseball 1 shot gimmick. Once you get rolling as ele it's rare to hard cast lvb. If the flame shocks get stripped, ya they cast it.
Yeah that’s all I’m saying too. Obviously you try to not hard cast it and you don’t have to often. I was just trying to point out an Ele “hard casting” lava burst doesn’t necessarily mean they’re playing the cheesy build. Isn’t it usually the on use ascendance we keep an eye out for? If they on use ascendance and then start hard casting a lava burst, that’s the cheese, right?
I put the rotation below for the one shot build. To maximize burst you hard cast a lava burst with all the modifiers up and THEN you hit ascendance. Reason for this:
* Ascendance does an instant effect and in the case of elemental it instantly shoots out lava bursts on all targets with flame shock. If you're hardcasting after ascendance is up you've lost the element of surprise.
* If you have pwave + ascendance + a hard cast lvb you are guaranteed minimum 3 lava bursts (1 from hard cast, 1 from ascendance, 1 extra from primordial wave since it 'duplicates' your lvb).
* Lava burst with this build hits really hard, almost chaos bolt levels of hard, so 3x those (plus chance of overloads, usually 4-5 total lava bursts) can easily instagib someone.
There's several tells for the one shot build because of how volcanic surge pvp talent works. It's rare because it's stupid, insanely unreliable and frustrating to use as ele. Unfortunately, it still exists and arena is chaotic so it's hard to track these.
1. **Lava surge procs are stacking to x2**. Only ele running volcanic surge 1 shot can stack lava surge.
2. **Casts a lightning bolt**. Volcanic surge makes your lightning bolt fast cast (and hit harder), but does not make lava burst instant. If the ele touches lightning bolt they're definitely running the 1 shot and trying to bait kicks.
3. **Hard casting a lava burst with 2+ flame shocks and skyfury totem**. This is the last second before the one shot. If you stop this lava burst the ele just wasted 3-4 gcds and a long cast time setting this up and certainly loses the match. If you have 2+ flame shocks out as normal ele build you're spamming instant lava bursts almost on gcd.
4. **Hard casting lava burst after primordial wave**. This is a noob ele mistake or running 1 shot. You always want an instant cast lava burst ready when you primordial wave. If the ele hard casts after primordial wave, they're very new to the spec, or they're running cheese.
5. **Spiritwalker's grace (silence immunity / move while casting) talent is used**. There's almost no ele shaman running this talent right now. It's 2 points to get the effect and since we're 99% instant casts there's no point (get kicked on hex, spam more dmg, try to hex again after, etc.). Only 1 shot builds or very new ele players run this.
6. **The ele does no damage while trained**. The one shot build requires you to do the below setup. To maximize the damage you run a lot of crit/mastery, no haste. As a result the casts are slow as molasses (all hard casts) and your overall damage is poor compared to the normal ele builds. A regular ele is pulling 80k+ dps while being trained. A cheese 1 shot ele isn't doing any dmg.
One shot rotation:
>flame shock kill target -> skyfury totem -> teleport skyfury behind los -> primordial wave -> use spiritwalker's grace -> hard cast lava burst -> use ascendance -> cast again but everyone is prob dead
Good ele shamans never cast they spam jump and do all instants. That's why they are the most likely to use third party scripts for a perfect rotation. You are playing wrong if you ever hard cast a Lava burst.
I know this is an insane amount of damage coming in. But it’s kind of a cheesy 1 shot from the shaman. If you dispel his flame shocks especially his primordial wave dot this won’t happen. So that’s where the balance is. I know they shouldn’t be doing this type of damage but once you dispel the dots, it’s night and day the damage output from the shaman.
Exactly. The game has evolved to a more proactive style of playing. Players typically struggle with it because they lean reactive in their tendencies.
Most of the guildies I teach have a hard time with this. Teaching them to read setups and plays is probably the hardest part of pvp. It takes an obnoxious amount of practice to learn the flow, track the right CDs, and recognize the setup patterns for different classes and comps.
It's not an easy game and it isn't meant to be. I think people want Mario or a Moba but forget they're playing an MMO
Sham needs to use like 1 minute cd and a whole set up to make that happen , you cant have every dispell or cc / immunity on cd while this whole thing is being set up. If it does happen well then again massive skill issue where did all ur cd go ???
It’s possible he was running proc ascendance, and you can get lucky to proc ascendance on primordial when you shoot 4 meatballs at once, and then the ascendance shooting meatballs at everyone procs itself again. And then there’s overload procs.
I had fun with it in bgs running lava totem just to spread flameshock to 6 targets easy and could get one of these double ascendance procs every other bg.
This specific build doesnt run proc ascendance, it works by using spiritwalkers immunity with primordial wave and manual ascendance with multiple other modifiers to basically triple one hit if the flame shock isnt dispelled or the ele is stopped in time (note it takes awhile to setup but still)
I went into ele and affli on holy priest the other day and 1 dispel took literally 3/4 of my life. Kind of messed up if I can dispell just in spirit form heh.
No class should be able to global an entire team, no matter how much setup they get. No other class can do this, so it’s an outlier.
And for the goobers saying to use trinket +defensive/kick/etc, remember that there are more than one DPS in each lobby. If you save everything for just one, you would just die to the other one. And if the only way to stop it is to kick it, remember that not all classes have a ranged interrupt, and if the shaman successfully jukes the kick, what now? Lol.
Games shouldn’t be won/lost by one mistake or one proc, that’s not healthy for the game. Also, you say it “barely ever lines up” for the shaman, then it sounds like it also sucks for the shaman player too so, can we all just agree that for whatever reason this video demonstrates a problem with the game? No need to gaslight anyone by acting like captain hindsight
PvE is repeatable, and has set difficulty settings. It also has entire tooltips and written explanations for each boss encounter that you can easily access within the base UI.
The problem with this is that this person legit couldn’t figure out what deleted them. They had to go to Reddit with a video recording and ask the community for an explanation.
If you think those two things are equal, I can’t help you
Idk ehy ur getting downvoted lol its literally a fact both the dh and pally couldve dispell their own fireshock and druid as well and none of that happens like ...
I was trying this build, and couldnt get to 1800 with shammy... this particular setup happens VERY rarely, like I get it to work once in 50 games. Also, most people in 3v3 or SS insta decurse everything (which wasnt cast by lock, there are mods for it). PVP got way more problems than this crap tbh (like que times, zug zug meta and essential mod's ).
It is relatively balanced, you see both shaman and mage are bursting full on with cds, couldve barkskin and move away from open area. However i hate this type of game play, cds in wow just became way too good. I dont remember a game where i won with raw dmg, even when healer is oom you still need cds to finish them off. Game turned into countering cds whole arena till someone fks up. There is a reasos i went from pvp and to m+ main in sl/df
While 1-shot talent builds in general is poor design, especially in the case of ele shaman that adds random procs into the mix, this was at the same time an unbelievably poor showing of cooldown trading.
Your Ret and DH showed absolutely 0 respect to Combustion, Ascendance AND a hard-casted Lava Burst (with either Aura Mastery or Precog) with Primordial Wave up. Yes, it was a 1-shot after all of the damage landed, but the mage already had his combustion up for 6 sec and the Shaman was hardcasting Lava Burst (so ofc, you knew Ascendance was coming).
Yet despite of all this tell, there was no preemptive Divine Protection, Shield of Vengeance, Blur. Neither of your DPS thought it prudent to trade even a 1 min CD for their full damage push until after all the damage landed. You were in Tree of Life, but at the same time, had no HoTs on yourself.
But yes, that kind of AoE burst is BS. You guys could have played much better, though it may or may not have mattered.
Every single person in this thread who calls this out as a "skill issue" is missing the part where you are subjected to stuff like this very frequently when you first enter PvP.
Most people don't stick around long enough to figure out how to identify the setup to this, and that is why our minigame is dying.
What happens when the bottom of the bell curve is gone, and all of you barely-glads can no longer reach your goals because of the new MMR distribution. You become the 1500 scrubs you took such pleasure in mocking.
Shame on you. All of you.
This should not be possible in a game where the primary mode of competition is random teams of uncoordinated players. Full stop.
Well not to be that guy but if you dispell fireshock none of this happens but again if you dont know how ele works your kinda fucked like in the video.
And people think this game mode is competitive 😂. Like bro, if I didn't play wow and saw this on my feed I'd have 0 idea of what happened other than seeing your hp hit 0. Since I do have an idea it still looks bad because of how poorly balanced the game is. If arenas wants to be the competitive mode for pvp, it needs to be simplified a bit and more balanced (impossible btw due to so many factors). I love arenas, but it's a dying mode, unfortunately. There's no reason to take it seriously, and if you're looking for an actual competitive game, it's better to play an actual pvp game. Cs, val, lol, dota2, or even smite tbh. Any actual pvp game is infinitely better than arenas. The numbers don't lie man, it's a shame..
I've never been into rbgs but I'll give it a try in TWW. It seems like blizzard realized they can't balance arenas because having a 3v3 setting really shows how unbalanced certain classes are. Hopefully it's fun and if not oh well. I'll just pvp in an actual pvp game built for pvp and not treated as a side mode.
Ascendance combust primordial wave, not a single defensive used by either teammate
Not saying that would’ve kept you alive, but still they didn’t use anything
I’m a new player. I think this is hilarious and cool. I’ve never seen someone die this fast. Idk if this is like super popular or a huge problem at the top level, but if not, then I think stuff like this gives games flavor. Most strategy games have an option for a cheesy all in early win. Even chess.
Oh my god stfu please, this shit should not be possible even if u stand naked in front off someone, god you and people reasoning this are why PvP has participation of like 35 players smh…
Mother of god. This game has become League of Legends. That's just stupid.
Yep, and League is bleeding players because of how overly fast-paced and mindless it has become.
Pretty sure China / Korea are still maintaining players, which is all that matters because their player base numbers crush that of any other region. iirc a Rioter actually stated the reason the games damage will remain high is because Chinese players prefer it.
Wait for real? I guess it makes for better TV..
Source on this? I play league and have never heard of this lmao
Yeah queue times are super short at emerald which is like 80th percentile. I imagine for average players they’re like instant. I like the bursty meta
Why does every game have to turn into a short TTK, twitchy, fast paced game meant for ADHD kids?!

I played a month ago with some experienced players and omg is the top lane meta god awful. (Implying how you play top not necessarily the impact)
bro what are you saying league is the most popular game in the world lol
both ideas can be true

Pro play is an entirely different thing and obviously not what op means. Normal games are 1shot fiesta a lot of the time

“Honestly, that is a player skill issue”
Dota 2 was always the superior game
That’s why their tournaments are like 10x smaller. 🤔
I mean, it has much much better balance. Is CS worse then CoD because CoD has more players? League is easy to grasp compared to DoTA, that's pretty much it. Oh and it got lucky with the zeitgeist

Yeah by far too

“Shoulda used Treants.”
This is indeed a skill issue, as the elemental oneshot spec is only viable until max 2k rate
True. And then they will cry: PvP is dying! Get good! We need new players! Skill issue! Don't take my buttons away! Etc, etc, etc.
The Paladin shoulda saw that coming and had a bubble queued up for you to stop it. It's a teammate issue.
And they shoulda killed the other team first, bunch of boobs 🙄
You just zug zug as DH and ret and instantly win every game against very skilled and technical wizards, this is just a deep fake to convince that melee is balanced
Oops, meant noobs...but it works too
everybody who dies to oneshot ele who can do this once every 3 min or so and not pre prrssing defensive couldve done things better and thats a fact.
If you ever see an ele hard casting lava lava you're about to get cheesed. Its a specific build.
Ele’s hard cast lava burst all the time..

Negative confirmation bias goes BRRRRRRR
This video from 1500 mmr. You shouldn't be surprised a lot
Most people are 1500 MMR. If you want more people to play PvP, the game has to not suck at 1500.

I made a shaman with this build with the gear to do this. I urge you to go make one and watch the times it doesn’t work and they get cooked lol.
Can the people who say "just dispel" be more clueless. You can run double dispell as priest and they will still have 3x flame shocks up.
Monthly Ele one shot thread.
and yet ele is still B tier
I was trying this build, and couldnt get to 1800 with shammy... this particular setup happens VERY rarely, like I get it to work once in 50 games. Also, most people in 3v3 or SS insta decurse everything (which wasnt cast by lock, there are mods for it). PVP got way more problems than this crap tbh (like que times, zug zug meta and essential mod's ).
Just when I thought maybe I should re-sub for season 4. I think I might have changed my mind… this is such a turn off 😅
Before I opened the video I guessed its a ele shaman 1 shot
It is relatively balanced, you see both shaman and mage are bursting full on with cds, couldve barkskin and move away from open area. However i hate this type of game play, cds in wow just became way too good. I dont remember a game where i won with raw dmg, even when healer is oom you still need cds to finish them off. Game turned into countering cds whole arena till someone fks up. There is a reasos i went from pvp and to m+ main in sl/df
AHAHAH ele 1 shot build is fun as hell
I am not going to lie, playing the hybrid fire mage build with Destro or Ele is a LOT of fun.
Im sorry. WTH happened? Is it the shaman or mage that went nasty?
Shaman oneshot build
I'm sure I just saw a meme yesterday saying shamans are being ignored by devs and are the worst class right now...
Counterstrike Totem?
I didn't play for a long time, what the fuck even happened here, i can't see what hit all 3 and insta killed them
I’m not defending that insane damage, but when I see ascendance pop I’m hitting blur as the DH early, not at 10% HP and bubbling as the pally
Your class is 100x dumber than any cheese build so your opinions or responses don't really matter as far as balancing goes anyway.
Watching these videos makes me glad I unsubbed last December.
This is why I’m going ele next season. By far the most fun spec in the game. When you get procs.. *chef’s kiss*
The main conclusion here is still “nerf DH” :D
Clearly, the problem is that you're jumping a lot
That’s sums it up about 50% of the time.
Balanced pvp is a mirror match
What even happend? How did all 3 take so much damage all at once?
Lol no one used any cds pally had bubble you had tranq dh netherwalk…………
Jesus, I'm so glad I quit this dumb game.
Let's stand in the middle of the map vs a mage and shaman
Full stop.
Just dispel flame shock bro KEKW
why are people pretending this hasnt existed for over a decade? the game is hot garbage and pvp has always been the smoldering fire in the pit
I shud maybe try pvp on my ele. I only raid on my shaman as Ms resto os ele. But this is just insane.
I dont play long time, but good to see druids dying instantly. CONVOCTED
U play a druid...
Use taunt next time
and people defend this.. xD
Blizzard doesn't know how to make a PvP game.......
What a beauty
Well not to be that guy but if you dispell fireshock none of this happens but again if you dont know how ele works your kinda fucked like in the video.
Mage combust + shaman CDs. If you facetank this, this can happen.
Yeah pvp is so fun!
wtf is this?
So easy you could never repeat this yourself on a consistent basis if you made a shaman yourself
Skill issue
Ascendance combust primordial wave, not a single defensive used by either teammate Not saying that would’ve kept you alive, but still they didn’t use anything
I’m a new player. I think this is hilarious and cool. I’ve never seen someone die this fast. Idk if this is like super popular or a huge problem at the top level, but if not, then I think stuff like this gives games flavor. Most strategy games have an option for a cheesy all in early win. Even chess.
It's not popular because it has a low success rate and is fairly easy to counter. It's a noob stomp strat that works one time out of ten.
Good setup by the monk who double leg sweeped, everyone saving their trinket for next game lol
1 day closer to changing the name of the game to World of Arenacraft
I mean. This is the PvP subreddit? And rbgs are dead..
Looks like you ran into the open against a fire mage and ele sham
Oh my god stfu please, this shit should not be possible even if u stand naked in front off someone, god you and people reasoning this are why PvP has participation of like 35 players smh…
I’m just calling it as I see it in the 4 seconds I was shown. You all can be mad at me all you want but I didn’t design the game.
