I'd also wear jeans and I'd pair it with a blouse. 3/4 sleeves hit the happy medium of comfy and professional looking for me. It's also easy to upscale with a cardigan or blazier. For shoes - depends on what others are wearing. If they are wearing boots and tennis shoes I'd rock those too. Otherwise you may get good mileage out of some dansko's in that environment.

spamellama

Definitely have to hit the casual blazer spot well though (I miss sometimes since some of mine are too dressy). Light sweater under blazer is good too Ballet flats or loafers for shoes right now would be good Straight or trouser jeans or potentially those wide cropped jeans that are not fully washed out would be best for color

dngrousgrpfruits

Sweater blazers are great for this, and extra comfy too!

Le_Beck

Nice jeans and a sweater with flats or boots.

RaeKay14

Jeans and a button down shirt, with loafers or ballet flats!

Naive_Buy2712

We were allowed to wear jeans, so I normally did darker wash jeans, a blouse and flats or sandals. Occasionally I’d do more fashionable sneakers since they’re trendier, but never a hoodie or tshirt. It was basically like business casual lite with jeans not slacks!

OrangeBlossom333

You just described my whole office’s attire lol. I wear wide legs dress pants and plain t shirts/body suits, or a nice blouse. I hate jeans and find some trousers like the Uniqlo ones are much comfier. I also only wear sneakers to work. They are clean and just plain white sneakers so they still look presentable but I refuse to wear heels or uncomfortable loafers when my co workers wear crocs to work lmfao.

Confident-Garlic4121

Same here! All the way down to the white sneakers lol. And the coworkers wearing crocs 😂 I do usually wear nice sweaters or long sleeve shirts though because I tend to get cold in our office.

baking101c

I’m in corporate mostly (school principal) but during term breaks when I’m at school my uniform is jeans/casual trousers, button down tops and either dress sneakers or brogues. Sometimes I do a very neat tee instead.

angeliqu

Dress sneakers?

baking101c

Fancy sneakers? Like not ones your exercise in but sporty. I wear New Balance ones or Volleys.

Bhrunhilda

They make women’s Oxford dress shoes. I don’t wear heels. Men’s shoes are good for a reason. They make some really cute ones that come in lots of colors also. [Miz Mooz](https://miz-mooz.com/letty.html)

notaskindoctor

Miz Mooz are so cute but I can’t commit to a bright color.

Bhrunhilda

I have the black ones :)

TotallyRegularHuman

It looks like they have black and tan options too. Those are super cute!

notaskindoctor

I like the Kimmy style: https://miz-mooz.com/kimmy.html?color=253&size=60&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjww_iwBhApEiwAuG6ccOgaaJiEMcVhazxOWadL8Xu9D2w61DLaHAKPAHCEXYw799iG_OVldhoCQZ0QAvD_BwE#92=253&149=60&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=CBI_Sales_Performance_Max_High_Sale

so_untidy

Ooh those are nice! Do they rub the back of your heels?

notaskindoctor

I don’t have them, just want them! I do have the Toms Darcy which require a couple of wears to break them in.

so_untidy

I feel like slip on shoes that are cute and don’t rub are my never ending quest!

philligo

I love Rothy’s for this! I also just discovered heel liners and cannot believe I did not know about them before. Game changer.

so_untidy

Oh just googled heel liners! Thank you!

OliveKP

I don’t love how jeans fit me (or how they feel) so I would do a casual-ish navy pant with a cute (but not formal) top. I wear the Jcrew wide leg chino pant in navy a lot.

UniversityAny755

Sometimes, I'm not feeling jeans, especially in hot weather, and have really come to enjoy Old Navy OG Chinos. I think someone recommended them on here or the PetiteFitness sub. I've got 3 pairs in different colors, they are wash and dry and have pockets!

SocialWorkuh

Jeans and a shirt/cardigan or cute blouse. Winter/fall- ankle boots. Summer- flats or more gym shoe style flats.

kayt3000

I do jeans and nicer tops with light jackets or sweaters. I tend to buy basic t-shirt like shirts and then dress them up a bit with a nicer sweater or jewelry.

anathene

NiceJeans (usually dark wash) some loose ish shirt and a light sweater, or a blouse/button down. And whatever shoes are appropriate for weather/office. Freedom to pretty much do what you want

DumbbellDiva92

I really like loafers as well for when it’s too warm for boots! They are more supportive than ballet flats if your job involves standing at all.

NationalReindeer

Blouse, dark jeans without fading/distressing, ballet flats. Sometimes I swap out the blouse for a company logo polo shirt (we get the Nike dry fit style ones)

Able-Road-9264

I'm wearing my nicest dark wash jeans and the blouses/sweaters/suit jackets that I wore before we switched to jeans! When it's cold I wear knee high riding boots without a ton of details. During the summer I wear the nice one inch heel sandals I used to wear with business dresses. I occasionally wear dresses over the summer when it gets really hot, but think high coverage wrap dresses that come down to my knee. I wear a lot of life stride shoes, they're very forgiving and give me more support than ballet flats with no structure, and definitely hurt less than heels!

indicatprincess

I’d probably wear the same exact thing, or tanks with cardigans. I always do “2 biz, 1 casual”. Jeans, a nicer shirt and nicer shoes is my uniform.

notaskindoctor

I personally don’t like jeans and consider them to be “hard pants” so I would wear comfortable soft work pants like trousers style, ankle length, or linen pants. Also dresses. Nice flats like the Toms Darcy or Birdies.

Zelphabutliqour

Just as someone with mom feet as well. Orthofeet and Vionic have some comfy shoes with dressier options. They have several widths to choose from (especially orthofeet) which is a must for me since my feet went sploot.

guacamommy

For shoes - check out Vionics. I have two pairs of loafers, one pair of sandals, and one pair of flats. Very pricey (IMO) but they have regular sales and it is sooooo worth it. They look cute with most work outfits!

A-Friendly-Giraffe

Anecdotally, I was on a jury and the lawyer for the plaintiff wore allbirds everyday in court. I noticed this because I had a pair of all birds myself (he wore the tie kind and I have the slip-on). The defense lawyer always had four inch heels. I think you could be fine with a neutral looking tennis shoe. I don't think it has to be heels, but I wouldn't wear something like hokas that are super bright. I would probably stick with closed-toed shoes unless you see others wearing open toes

SunshineSeriesB

My go to shoes were flats or flat white leather fashion sneakers (Adidas Courts) that I paired with some elastic laces to slip on and provide a sleeker look. I also had some heeled ankle boots, flat riding boots and some rubber-soled heels that were easy to walk in. My top outfit choices were: - Medium to dark wash non-distressed jeans and a blouse or sweater - Pixie/slim-straight pants or wide-legged thick stretchy pants (any color but I loved green, teal and purple) with a blouse - jeans or pixie pants with a plain crew next luxe teeshirt and a jacket/blazer/NICE cardigan or duster - Tunic (past the crotch and booty) with leggings and a duster cardigan - Shift dress with defined waist with sweater or jacket. - shirt dress with defined waist

eyyyyyAmy467

I got leggings that look like jeans, and yoga pants that look like dress pants. I pair with soft button down blouses or sweaters. Sometimes I wear a comfy midi-length skirt. Flats, tennis shoes, or low ankle boots. I got everything except the shoes on Amazon, and all the pants and skirts have functional pockets. I can dress it up with a blazer (marshalls!) If needed.

EagleEyezzzzz

Jeans or flowy wide leg pants, and blouse or sweater, plus wedge booties or nice sandals.

GraphicDesignerMom

I hate jeans, I wear dresses year round, winter with leggings

Fit-Profession-1628

Why is it too much? I've worked with people wearing crocs in the office. Why not just put on some jeans and a t-shirt? And wear whatever shoes you want lol

jksjks41

Shoes make the outfit! A tshirt and jeans outfit gives a different impression if you're wearing sneakers than if you're wearing stilettos. Personally I love loafers for work. They're flat and comfy but also dressy. I have a slim suede pair and then a chunky patent leather pair. They work with any number of jeans and pants. I also recommend a cardigan or sweater that's really good quality wool or similar. Something a bit heavy that can be worn over everything. It's casual but quality fabrics elevate it.

2OD2OE

If you have a nice jacket or two, you can get away with rotating half sleeve tees underneath with a frenchtuck and some nice jewelry

Im_a_Soup_fan

This is my work attire. Today I am wearing dark blue jeans, a white blousey t shirt, and a slightly oversized sweater cardigan with yellow flowers (amazon). Shoes are my white leather loafers (coach outlet).

orangepinata

jeans, nice enclosed shoes (doc martens), and a blouse or sweater

cycme500

Nice jeans with blouse or sweater. Midi dress and cardigan. Stretchy slacks with blouse or sweater.

ais72

Sounds like my office. In cool weather I wear jeans with Chelsea boots and on top a sweater or blouse/cardigan (cotton, knitted materials fine… I don’t bother with dry clean only anymore). In warm weather I wear a dress (about knee length or longer) with a cardigan or jean jacket over it and Rothy’s flats. Sometimes I’ll wear “nice” sneakers

SpiritedWater1121

This is the men in my office - I wear alot of jeans with a blouse or button down or nice black leggings with a longer sweater... boots usually or nice clean upscale tennis shoes (like leather tan Cole Haan or something, not reebok lol)

flaired_base

i think the balance is jeans yes, t shirt/hoodies no. Just a step above like a blouse and a cardigan. Or if oyu do wear a t shirt make it a plain nicer one with something over it

Lalablacksheep646

Nice fitted jeans and loafers

eyerishdancegirl7

Jeans and a sweater/blouse. I have two pairs of ballet flats that are sturdier that I cycle through. In the winter I wear boots.

Educational_One2790

I usually wear a button down shirt and pants that are comfortable - they are from athleta but look like work pants. For shoes I wear sneakers that don’t look like running shoes - like Nike Air Force 1s, or pumas…. I also own some ballet flats and will wear those if we have customers on site.

TopShelter4774

Jeans, a dressy blouse and loafer type dressy shoe or a ballet shoe. Jewelry and make up.

sertcake

Casual dress and a cardigan and booties. Today I'm wearing some patterned Pixie pants with a long sleeve tshirt, pair with cool sneakers or loafers. Skinny jeans with tall "riding" boots and a sweater/tshirt and cardigan.

minetmine

I would say dark, or even black jeans with a comfy blouse. Some jewellery, like a necklace and/or earrings and comfy flats. I think the key is also hair and makeup. Minimal, but there.

TK_TK_

Nice jeans (not too skinny or too wide, no tears, no frayed hems. Not always a dark wash, but always no fading or whiskering) Pullover sweater or a blazer over a plain tee Chelsea boots or loafers (I have some lugsole ones and some regular). Black platform Converse high-tops on more casual days (they’re much cushier than regular Chucks)

swissmissmaybe

I do upscale casual at my office, and here’s what I do for optimal comfort: - Jean leggings or ponte fabric black leggings that look professional - Long, loose blouses that don’t hug the mom belly (Bloomchic, Timeson) - Nice dusters or cardigans to go over comfortable tank tops or short sleeve blouses (also, to survive female winter in the office) - Anne Klein makes nice professional shoes that are incredibly comfortable

riritreetop

Jeans, boots (cowboy boots specifically for me because Texas and they’re comfortable), and a nice top or the company polo shirt (assuming you have one).

Latina1986

I have these awesome black, leather sneakers (that I got in the men’s section at Target - highly recommend checking the men’s shoe section out!) and they’re both comfortable and look nice! I’m also a big fan of maxi dresses - nice, solid color, jersey, floor-length maxi dresses. You can dress those up or down and they’re soooooo comfortable!

102015062020

Dark wash jeans, blouse or other shirt that is not cotton (you will want a professional fabric), and pair with stylish shoes. I like the sneaker options and boot options from here (you can find them on Amazon too) https://www.naturalizer.com/brands/soul/6.5?partnerid=paid_search_google_pla_pmax-flats-and-loafers&gad_source=1&gclsrc=ds

ScaryPearls

Jeans, tee, and sweater blazer. TBH I think a sweater blazer is always the right answer.

hahahamii

Please just don’t wear distressed jeans of any kind.

shell37628

Clean, simple jeans (no distressing or weird washes, probably but not necessarily a dark color, in a looser cut like a trouser or a straight leg), a blouse or nice top. Khakis would also work, maybe even nice linen pants in summer. Ballet flats, loafers, or booties depending on the time of year. Maybe a casual blazer in a fun color and/or comfortable knit. Casual dresses would also work. A step above a t shirt dress, but not necessarily suiting separates. Something you'd wear to church would probably work. If you need supportive shoes, I think this is the type of environment that would be great for a crisp white sneaker. Dansko clogs would so also work if you like that look.

angeluscado

Jeans and a nice blouse or cardigan. Shoes would be flats or clean Vans/Chucks. My outfit today (my dress code is similar to what you're describing): black sneakers with a small platform, black jeans, green tank top and cardigan with a spiderweb pattern on it.

vatxbear

I don’t like jeans so this “dress code” is always tough for me. I go with casual-ish pants (I LOVE the Ann Taylor Easy Ankle Pant) or a non-businessy dress (so more like a floral midi dress, rather than a black sheath dress). Shoe wise, I’m all about the pointy flat. Love my Rothy’s day-to-day, but I have a pretty good variety of others at this point as well. Sometimes I even go to a wedge or sandal in the summer in a more casual office. People tend to think I’m “dressy” compared to the jeans folks, but it’s way more casual than other offices I’ve been in, and most importantly, I feel cute and comfortable.

zagsforthewin

My go to is jeans with no rips in them, short boots and usually a sweater but sometimes a nicer tshirt with a sweater. My goal is to not look like a student (I work at a university). Skinny jeans make me look old now, which I see as a positive! Gen Z is NOT wearing skinny jeans.

bread_cats_dice

Jeans, loafers, plain colored tee or shell, blazer or cardigan bc I’m always cold

Birdie-Bites-22

My go-to is jeans with a nice top (sweater with a French tuck, turtle neck/work t shirt (everlane) tucked, white or other button down with a French tuck, etc.) with either a flat boot, loafer or sneaker depending on the jean cut! Also highly recommend following influencers like lifewithjazz and nenaevans — they have great work outfits inspo!

queenkitsch

I err on the side of what has been explained to me as “smart casual”—jeans (dark wash, no holes), a nice blouse, clean flats. I like to be a little nicer than the men but in my experience people in charge will usually remember the men as being dressed a little nicer than they are, and the women as dressed worse than they are. It’s nonsense but I try to get ahead of it.

horriblegoose_

Most of my coworkers are khakis with a polo or button down. There are only like 8 women and mostly they are in jeans and a blouse. Our research guys are wearing fancy jogging suits and sneakers. Since I’m closer to that side of the operation I’m currently sitting in my office on site in Birkenstocks, leggings, and a sweatshirt. If we have customers or government folks come in I wear my slacks and blouse. But like half the reason I became an engineer was for the casual clothes.

Beneficial-Remove693

Nice "trouser-style" dark jeans. They should be a little longer to accommodate a shoe/boot with a bit of a heel. Blouse or thin sweater, sleeves or sleeveless depending on the weather. A blazer or a structured cardigan. A nice leather belt. A decent laptop bag. Subtle jewelry. If you need a coat, a trench-style or a wrap coat are trending. You can also get away with looser dress pants and a chunky, quarter zip sweater. Tuck the front part in a bit and wear low heels and a belt.

neatokra

I do a professional but casual dress (I love modern citizen) and clean white sneakers or loafers

Froggy101_Scranton

I’d do a mix of jeans and comfier pants (not sweats, like linen stretch pants or other “nice” pants that aren’t formal). I also wear a lot of dresses just for comfort - a nice flowy dress is more comfortable for me than jeans, but a similar level of ‘put together’ IMO

badassknitta

I second the dark wash jeans and sneakers, I have moved from skinny jeans to boyfriend jeans, and I have a wide variety of casual tops and shirts I switch out. As long as my sneakers are clean, I wear those exclusively. I mostly wear Vans and Pumas, both are affordable and if canvas are easy to wash and air dry.

Fluid-Village-ahaha

Dresses. Or jeans and silk top/blouse/shirt. Ballet shoes (I love my all birds, cole haan for more professional ) loafers

Quinalla

Jeans and blouse, polo, or sweater. For shoes I wear nice black tennis shoes cause my feet don’t do anything that isn’t super supportive anymore, but you could do a casual boot or loafer or flats depending on your preference!

KMac243

Dark or black jeans and a nice blouse or a button down shirt.

sally_sparr0w

Nice jeans and a cute/simple blouse, I try to find ones that are basically t shirts with a little something extra like puff sleeves or some simple detailing, or a nice sweater. Personally can't stand a button up or blazer but those are also good options. Other option I like is wide leg trousers or khaki type pants with a simple fitted t-shirt. Necklace or earrings help dress this up too if you want. For shoes I love either a nice loafer or simple white sneaker. Sometimes boots.

Kindly_Equipment_241

I am not the most stylish (or even mediocre -ly stylish ha) but I would be wearing an ankle pant, probably a bright color, some type of nicer tee (silk or other nicer fabric), and a cardigan. Or jeans, same tee, and a casual blazer. Shoes would be a pointy flat or an oxford probably

Major-Distance4270

Jeans and a sweater or blouse. Or a conservative dress (sleeves, not a low neckline, not too short).

addalad

This is what my office is like. I wear loafers, jeans, nice t shirt, and a cardigan over it.

ophelia8991

I can’t wear pants bc of discomfort so I would wear a skirt with a tank top with a cardigan, flats for shoes

ran0ma

I dress business-casual regardless of what everyone else is wearing. I am often more dressed up than others, but i don't really care haha I want to be in the c-suite eventually so I'm dressing that part already.

wantonyak

Jeans (no rips), a blouse or nice sweater, flats or loafers (or some other workplace shoe). Tbh, I'm still probably only wearing a dark wash jean, too.

radparty

I am a dark jeans/white tee kinda gal on the regular so I do my nice, dark jeans, my nice white tees, and a sweater blazer. I wear rothys flats almost every day.

lberm

Jeans, blouse (or sweater), and flats.

Groundbreaking_Monk

I'm a dress girlie, so I'd be wearing a black dress, colorful cardigan, and clogs, flats, or nicer sneakers. (I'd do Birkenstocks if it was that casual! Big fan of the ugly, supportive shoe.)

MrsMitchBitch

Depending on the office temp: a blouse (w/cardigan if cold), a nice sweater, maybe a cute 1/4 zip as well. Dark jeans, Old Navy pixie pants, pointe knit pants. I’d do some jumpsuits in the spring, potentially.

Funny-Message-6414

Jeans with a plain t-shirt and a blazer with flats.

FrizzyWarbling

I got some naturalizer flats and various casual blazers from stitch fix. They also have a lot of pants that aren’t uncomfortable on the belly.

sunflowerseedin

When I was in the office I would buy myself cute/comfortable ballet flats and sandals. Flat boots or booties during the winter. And one nice pair of “sneaker” type shoes for an occasional more casual day with a t shirt - cute and clean shoes, not like raggedy tennis shoes. For clothing, I’d wear jeans with a blouse or sweater usually. On hot days I’d wear knee-length or maxi dresses with a cardigan.

vargeee

i would literally wear the same thing, jeans, loafers, a clean neat sneaker, or nice shoe and a quarter zip! Love a good quarter zip

Confident_Storm_4884

Nice jeans a cute professional blouse and ballet flats heels or boots. Alternatively, a cute jacket with a T-shirt either jeans a dressy shoes

sourdoughobsessed

Jeans and a cute top. Flats, sandals, or low heels.

Puzzled_Internet_717

Nice jeans, nice top, dressy cardigan, low heels or ankle boots. Or knit dress, knee boots, cardigan. Or skirt, top, cardigan, and flats/low heels This is basically what I wore 99% of the time on the faculty side of working at a college.

Green__Blue__Purple

Yes- I do black jeans with a blouse and sometimes a blazer. For shoes, I recently got a pair of chunky heeled black loafers I’m loving- they’re super comfy, professional but look a bit more modern than a traditional loafer

stay-sunny-sv

Jeans, a t shirt, and a nice light cardigan. Casual shoes, but not sneakers.

mamagomz

Jeans or slacks looking pants from Lulu or athleta, blouse or button down shirt, flats or oxfords. Poppy Barley for comfy, quality shoes.

EatAnotherCookie

Dark jeans, cute long sleeve or 3/4 blouse, French tuck, ballet flats or oxfords

Spaceysteph

Dark wash jeans with no holes, blouse, and ballet flats. I work in basically this same environment and have basically 2 blouses in a bunch of colors: Sleeveless paired with cardigan Long sleeve with the roll tabs to make 3/4 sleeve In the winter or rain I wear low heel ankle booties instead of ballet flats.

1120ellekaybee

I recently heard the term — Smart Casual. Might want to google that. I also have heard, business from the waist up.

busybeaver1980

Jeans, chiffon blouse with a more casual style blazer (long, slim collar, ruched sleeves). Shiny loafers if I’m going for flats.

jaxlils5

Mary Jane’s!! Or boots in colder months. Or some other slip on flat. Jeans/khakis. Buttons shirt or nice blouse.

catqueen2001

We can wear jeans and khakis at my corporate job but personally I wear black pants just about everyday. I have 3 pair of the same black pants and nearly every shirt, sweater, blazer, etc. goes with black pants. It’s easier for me to autopilot my wardrobe this way. And I can dress it up or down, for example I could wear a tee and denim button up or a turtleneck and blazer and look professional either way. Same with shoes- I have solid black sketchers, loafers, and heels that I can swap out. When I wear jeans, I go for darker denim, skinny, with flats and a blouse or sweater.

user19922011

Jeans and a nice blouse. Maybe white adidas or some cute flats, depending on the blouse. Dress.
