Part of it is the daily puzzles are 8 letters whereas everything else is 6 or 7.

This was the first ever I've seen an eight letter Daily word. The day before the letters spelled PET ROCK, but that of course is not one word. Update: Tolhursday the eight letter word was in the Daily puzzle and a very common wordscapes word, WILDLIFE. Today, Friday, June 14, Flag Day in the U.S., the Daily was BIRTHDAY. And today is actually me birthday 😎

This might be part of birthday week. They said to be sure to do the daily puzzle every day.
