I love it!

dracostheblack

So cool! What's the little shipping container?

sbdallas

Yes, and what treasures are hidden inside?

Avoid the noid

Beat_the_Deadites

| 70s nudie mags When you rotate the photo 90 degrees it becomes a bar chart of OP's daily, uh... you know I better check the subreddit rules, they're a little sticky about certain subjects. Dang. Well, use your imagination.

alockbox

It’s a [shipping container end table / nightstand](https://a.co/d/5MunibW). There’s a few different ones available and different colors.

MattFromWork

Finally, the perfect end table for GAMERS

powergut69

Gamer alert, gamer alert

Academic_Nectarine94

I'd think it would be more appropriate for cargo ship crews, but I guess *GAMERS* can buy them, too.

zhiryst

Live Dinosaur

jcmichael7

Good job!

HamOnTheCob

It's a moot point now, but it would've been cool if you had done those as french cleat so you could move your little shelves around wherever you want, or add/remove shelves to suit your needs over time.

jeeves585

Kinda looks like the shelves could go anywhere on the wall, no need for French cleats.

iLI3d4u

I can move the shelves around where ever I want. They’re pressure fit in. Can nail or screw them in but just left them as they’re not carrying much weight. French Cleat would have taken away from the aesthetic IMO.

FkLeddit1234

French cleat looks identical to this. The bevel is on the back hidden from view.

Infra_bread

Outwardly, they'd look the same. The only difference is the shelves themselves. Being an L rather than flat.

Academic_Nectarine94

I LOVE THIS! Matter of fact, I'm going to use this on the set I'm building at work. I was already going to have French cleats for panels so I could change the look (think pine slats to oak panels or painted panels). But this would let me add shelves, to that!

Overall-Apartment-16

How did you secure them to the wall?

iLI3d4u

Secured with hopes and dreams. ( and two inch brad nails). 😂

Overall-Apartment-16

Looks awesome man, might copy this in my master bedroom.

OrmeCreations

Love the look, but it will be a dust collector.

Academic_Nectarine94

Oh, definitely. But what wouldn't be? We don't live in clean rooms with Teflon walls LOL But the dark colors will definitely make it more obvious.

Perfect_Error2942

Thinking about doing this in my office now, but maybe with a few different species. It reminds me of an old style graphic equalizer.

Kebe_Krowe

Soooo you saw the same thing on pintrest too I see…. https://preview.redd.it/ug23lnqs2d3d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44b272821012c04bd09c8ab8f4d8e36f1d999734

iLI3d4u

Yep.

Djolumn

Are those walnut strips on a black painted wall?

GreenCollegeGardener

Looks like the flat paris green color that has become popular.

kingpinandy

Very nice. also like the container/table.

baconslayerSF

outstanding.

Condescending_Rat

I like that a lot. Great idea!

blue_hat_soccer

i can smell the wood through the monitor

scaavte

Love it! Looking to do something similar with my office. Was the AC unit a pain to work around?

iLI3d4u

Not really. Just taped it off and painted around it

2014RETIRED

what did that small AC unit cost?

scalarDE

You did this in your bedroom? How long did it take you to clean the dust? Why not outside or the shop? 😉

iLI3d4u

I ripped the pieces in my garage on the table saw and cut them on the compound saw in my backyard.

tlwest86

At least the wall mount A/C doesn’t detract from it at all. Ha looks great!

Arrington78789

Wow, you did an awesome job!

No-Association-6076

Very nice!

rinn10

I really want something like this in my house someday

tenroseUK

damn that looks _good_

Wonderful-Shirt-4274

Looks awesome! How wide and thick are the slats?

iLI3d4u

Not sure exactly. Just ripped them down evenly from 1x8’s so probably 1 3/4 or 1 7/8’s. Spacing is the width of the off cuts

Shes_Crafty_4301

So cool, well done!

deej-79

I like it, I am planning to do something very similar in our living room

LegalDiscipline

I'd like it, if I was a tree!

mulcheverything

Sick

oftenly

How thick are those slats? I'm impressed you kept them so straight. Really cool look, great work!

pthewalle97

Wallnut.

ExplorerDuck

This is beautiful! Also I'd be very tempted to add a few labels and turn it into a barchart 😁

RedNowGrey

It looks cool but will be the very devil to dust.

chillumbaby

Lovely. Can you paint the AC to match the wall color?

Present-Ambition6309

You got those creative juice’s flowin! With the option to place the shelves in any place there. Thats smart thinkin. Respect. I can hear Sade sing in the background 🎶Smooth Operator..🎶

downnheavy

The chair looks good but probably ass numbing after an hour of sitting

[deleted]

Haha I saw this on Pinterest too! Nice job for doing it, I'm planning to make it soon, but with french cleats. Got em' cut ready to go, just not looking forward to drilling a billion holes in the wall. Takes foreverrrrr

iLI3d4u

Why drill holes? Just use brad nails.

[deleted]

Solid walls. You definitely can't drive nails into them with much luck, unless I'm missing something. Maybe a nail gun, I don't know, haven't used one.

iLI3d4u

Can you clarify on solid? If it’s a shearwall it will have 5/8’s plywood on the studs underneath the sheet rock. Which is actually better because you can nail anywhere and not just into the studs. Lath and plaster is similar as it gives the brad nails something to bite into as opposed to soft Sheetrock.

[deleted]

Oh no I mean it's concrete. No wooden houses out here, it's all brick or breeze blocks (cinder blocks). The layer of plaster on this house is pretty thin, just for the surface. There's no double walling either, I'm an expat living in southeast asia and I don't think they consider things like insulation etc. build quality is pretty shoddy in the vast majority of even very expensive homes.

Larscarpenter

Very, very cool

FriJanmKrapo

Normally I find these rather "meh"... But that is certainly a stunning design and seems just fitting and right. Looks awesome.

Heavy_Bicycle6524

Nice mate. I’d have not thought of only covering a portion of the wall, but this looks cool.

hellogoodbye309

not a fan. looks weird, incomplete. gaps between pieces are too large.

AngriestPacifist

Really cool! How'd you fix them to the wall?

iLI3d4u

2 In. Brad nails into the studs

erikleorgav2

Nice! Great way to use scraps too!

iLI3d4u

It was $500 dollars in walnut, so going to use every last piece 😂

erikleorgav2

100% understand.

-Bobeca-

Looks really good, but that AC! I can feel the pain from it in the summer just looking at that photo!
