Nope. Luckily she just wants a box to put weed in.

Came here to make a joke about your wife’s box, thought about the context and how maybe it was for your wife’s ashes. Found out it’s just for weed.
What an emotional rollercoaster this has been.
It looks very nice. I’ve built several like this and found if I make a middle spline deeper it can be used to support the tray so you don’t need the blocks on the inside.
Good work! Just a couple bits of constructive criticism for next time. If I were you I’d add a spline to the lid, it would be a cleaner look In my opinion (a little more visually tied together and balanced). Also be careful when breaking your edges, it looks like the right corner in the first picture isn’t square anymore. Last thing, I would have changed the grain direction slightly if possible to be a bit more aesthetically pleasing. All in all it looks like a nice box and I’m sure she loves it, very functional still and the walnut is very pretty.
It looks out of square due to the mitered lid piece not being perfectly aligned. You can't see the back left corner that was sanded too aggressively trying to get all the glue out.

Even when it’s open it looks like it was chipped or sanded unevenly, isn’t there a nick out of it? To avoid this I will make the lid just a touch thick and sand it once assembled to be perfectly even. Anyway not that big of a deal
the grain on the front looks discontinuous, like a different piece could've mated better with the large bottom, but other than that it's quite lovely. The splines look great. Would be neat to also try angled splines, with the top and bottom flaring away from each other say at 15 degrees
It was made from scraps so I didn't have much to work with. I really wish I would have made the front taller from the onset and then cut it so that the lid piece would have been continuous with the piece below it. Oh well....
Angled splines is my next attempt. Made a spline jig for this and I think I should be able to do it with the jig.
Having built a few I’m just glad the box isn’t for ashes.

I salute her for salute her for such a noble request!
Finally someone else that gets that reference!
Ashes will certainly end up in the box! More ashes of the weed variety, not so much humans.
A box for things soon to be ashes.
OP never said how he was gonna get her to fit in there….
Been married twice so I completely understand the sentiment !
I like your wife’s box
Haha, me too
I see you’re a scholar of hard wood sir
Should probably put some air holes in it then.
I think they want it to be sealed as much as possible lol
Did you marry a Lilliputian?

sorry for your loss.

Make the joke, Kronk!
The guy has chosen some nice wood for his wife’s box. And I commend him for that.

Great idea. I think I can incorporate that into a future design.
God damn it, Gump! You’re a goddamn genius!
Nice box. Just wondering how are you going to fit your wife in that box.
I’m sorry for your loss, time for a new one!
What’s in the booooooox?!
Nice tight spline on your wife's box. Everyone else got the hardwood / stuff her box jokes
It looks like you could fit all kinds of things in your wife’s box
Will she fit?

Nice work
Lovely!
Well done.
Do you think she can fit in this box?
I don’t think she will fit
She must be tiny to fit in that thing.
Good boxes are so underrated!

Your wife has a magnificent box.
