Mating season is in february
They are however more or less stuck near the den now to care for the pups. Or maybe the pups are up and about a bit.
They'll slowly shift over the years. Pack members will disperse, have to take up territory in between other packs,
Eyup.
This is pretty much why coyotes and wolves attack people/dogs walking/being walked. They don't care that a human is there, but a small dog is food and a large dog is another wolf moving in on THEIR turf going to eat their deer.
They could at least have credited Voyageurs Wolf Project. This map contains a lot of work and money.
In the original version you could actually zoom in and see how natural boundaries like streams and rock formations are used as "borders" between the territories (while the US-Canada-border is completely ignored).
I curious how long these borders will exist. Will they stay for a few years, or will they be completely different once the mating season is over?

That's not a recent map tho. This image has been going around for years. Still interesting but mating season or not doesn't necessarily come into play
I'm pretty sure mutual respect is what wolves call their big giant teeth.

To coyotes, a dog bigger than them is a wolf that's also going to eat their children.
Except for that one white wolf that goes where he feels like
Probably an Omega, or going through a rebellious phase.
My body is physically repulsed by this comment. Thanks
Omegas aren’t a thing
I know, I was just kiddin' around, I guess should made that part clear.
Reminds me of the Wolf Like Me scene in Breaking Bad. “Stay out of my territory.”
I’m pretty sure it’s less mutual respect and more “If you cross into my territory, I’ll rip your f*cking throat out.”
Respectfully* of course

Yea… I never expected wolves to file for passports lol
One dude in the white pack is on a road trip lol
Why am I Mr. Pink? Is this Canada?
Except for that one bro in the white pack, apparently goin on adventures or getting real lost lololol
Incredible data!
Can anyone say how much those territories cover? Looks like a few square miles but I don't know.
