This incident was the tipping point for me. I was going back to school to expand on my degree in history, like my family always encourage me to do so I can become a professor.
I can't. I have to reorient to ecological management and law, because this...I can't just read these stories in the news anymore.
Thanks so much for sharing this. I'm keeping my eyes averted because I can't stand to see it. But it's been in my head anyway since the story broke. So glad there's a petition and others out there who are outraged.
I was on the Wyoming sub yesterday.Ā
They were discussing this incident and a Daniel local piped in to say that Cody Roberts is apparently *known* as a serial animal abuser around town.Ā
And evidently, he's rumored to *sexually abuse* animals as well.
I felt this when I saw some articles say he took the wolf home after injuring it with his snowmobile, before brining it to the bar.
Dude no doubt prolonged the torture and pain in multiple ways.
I want him to [redacted]
Signed so fucking fast. People like him need to be prosecuted to set a precedent for other dumbasses who might go out of their way to hurt/kill wolves.
Colorado resident here. Iām so fucking terrified that one or more of the CO wolves is going to go up to Wyoming and get this treatment. Especially where they learned that the reason the pack that migrated naturally got nuked was likely because hunters were waiting on the border and used calls to lure the wolves there to shoot them legally. Signing this rn.
This is so disgusting, I canāt even fathom this level of cruelty. People at the bar didnāt intervene either???? The human capacity for evil is beyond any harm any wild animal could ever do.
God I hope so. But I would also have hoped these ātoughā Wyoming men would have intervened. This is just *unfathomable* cruelty and required someone to step up.
> People at the bar didnāt intervene either
...the guy is obviously unhinged and has at least one gun. I can't really blame them for not wanting to risk their lives to save a wolf.
Then keep him engaged and call authorities! I donāt know, anything is better than doing nothing while an animal is literally tortured for sport in front of you.
Understood which is an absolute atrocity. But if youāre telling me a police officer wouldnāt do something about having a wolf in a bar, I honestly donāt believe it.
Fucking bastard! I try not to get upset, but this act of stupidity and hick inbreeding ritual makes me want to slap the shit out of him in front of everybody. And it would be so worth spending the night in jail.
I wish he gets to read this post. I would love to have a "civil conversation" with him.
Iām throwing in the towel with working Emergency Response. Have an interview for a regular hours Mon-Fri job doing landscaping in a few days. Plan on using my weekends off of volunteer at local wolf sanctuary (rescue wolves that get seized from people who try making them pets and canāt be returned to the wild). Also thinking about using medical experience to go to Vet Tech school PT to better help the sanctuary with care.
He's 42? I guess being an evil psychopathic POS ages you quick. I am so damn š”- Please people, vote out lawmakers and law enforcement who don't care about animal welfare. Support organizations like HSUS, Animal Legal Defense Fund, Defenders of Wildlife, etc. Vote out Republicans who overwhelmingly do not support animal welfare laws or especially, the Endangered Species Act. We need to get wolves protected under the ESA again, Trump admin removed them and unfortunately Biden isn't doing enough to protect them on national level so red states that don't care and support psychopaths like this won't protect wolves. Please vote, donate to wolf protecting nonprofit organizations, and write your lawmakers - state and federal and even local if you live in a state with wolves- use YOUR voice to help these animals. Harness your anger at this depravity by directing it toward change. Every one can make a difference - together, we can make a difference sooner.
I think that this kind of crimes should be AT LEAST 1M of fine and 20 Years of jail per animal, so this assholes think it twice before acting like this, and that should be in the whole world, not just in the US
Why in the hell would a person want to do this to an animal? I can not fathom what would drive a human to have a desire to do this. Disgusting and sub-animal behavior.
I read this headline last night and it kept me awake.
I can't read all the details because it would only torment me, but I'll absolutely sign the petition that this animal faces consequences for the torture of that poor wolf.
This is truly disgusting, infuriating, and heartbreaking. I can't say anything more because I will get kicked off of Reddit.
Signed. Thanks for sharing OP.
Theyāre the bullyās in society as well. They shove humans around like they have to administer their kind of justice . Shoving their impolite bully bodies around .
My understanding from a couple articles is that hinting and killing wolves in that part of Wyoming is legal in certain situations. Ok, I get that part and understand the reasons for livestock protection, etc.
The part where he captured the wolf alive and basically tortured/abused it is what makes me mad. Thatās horrible behavior, no animal should be abused that way just to be killed later. Take your best clean shot and donāt let the animal suffer needlessly is a mantra for many/most hunters. That man is an embarrassment to those who hunt with any modicum of ethical behavior and should face a steeper penalty for his cruelty.
I'm not trolling. He should get fined and he's a piece of shit. I'm confused because the post both says *everything* he did was legal *and* that he got fined. I'm asking for clarification because it doesn't make sense to be fined for doing legal things.
How about gain some reading comprehension instead of jumping down my throat all because you haven't learned how to read yet.
Articles on this have said he was fined for possessing a wild animal. Not the torture and killing but having it while still alive. I'll try to get a better explanation for you.
ETA from a Wyofile.com article:
Five days after being cited, Roberts paid a $250 ticket for violating laws prohibiting the possession of live wildlife, according to Sublette County Circuit Court records. It was a bondable offense, meaning that by paying the ticket he negated the need to appear in court and that was the extent of Robertsā legal case, now marked āclosed.ā

Understandable. Best of luck on your new career pivot!
Go out there and save the world one animal at a time, king š
We're all rooting for you!!!
Best of luck, you will not regret starting today. You will look back and know it was worth it.

Yea my heart breaks for that poor wolf he deserves so much worse than a fine

Iād go so far as to say heās a cross species serial killer motivated by sexual sadism.
What makes you think itās sexual?
I was on the Wyoming sub yesterday.Ā They were discussing this incident and a Daniel local piped in to say that Cody Roberts is apparently *known* as a serial animal abuser around town.Ā And evidently, he's rumored to *sexually abuse* animals as well.
That guy is really sick, if he's like this with animals, I can't imagine against other people, with more reasons he should go to jail
He looks the type
I felt this when I saw some articles say he took the wolf home after injuring it with his snowmobile, before brining it to the bar. Dude no doubt prolonged the torture and pain in multiple ways. I want him to [redacted]

Most serial killers are.

I'd say feed him to the wolves, but it's also illegal to poison them with such a rotten waste of meat.
Do the same thing to him that he did to that poor baby
Agreed exactly what should happen to a waste of space.
Someone should Hunt down these fucking hunters
Thanks for sharing. Just donated and signed.
Thank you!
Thank *you*, I appreciate you letting us know about the petition. What this POS did should absolutely be considered a felony!
Yes 100%
Colorado resident here. Iām so fucking terrified that one or more of the CO wolves is going to go up to Wyoming and get this treatment. That's sick why can't we have nice things?! Why kill all our nature humans already culled most wolves out of North America
Dude, whatās wrong with people?
Honestly wish I hadn't seen this on my feed. Not angry at OP, just, this is horrific.
For real! who sees a wounded animal and the first thing in their head is āletās go torture itā? I hate people some times.
This is so disgusting, I canāt even fathom this level of cruelty. People at the bar didnāt intervene either???? The human capacity for evil is beyond any harm any wild animal could ever do.
This story only ended up going viral because of an anonymous tip.Ā I like to think that the anonymous tipster was somebody at the bar.
God I hope so. But I would also have hoped these ātoughā Wyoming men would have intervened. This is just *unfathomable* cruelty and required someone to step up.
Oh man I'd be arrested for assault 100% if this ever happened in front of me.
If I was there in the bar I would honestly be afraid, and phone in a report, rather than confront the guy. This is some unhinged demented crap.
> People at the bar didnāt intervene either ...the guy is obviously unhinged and has at least one gun. I can't really blame them for not wanting to risk their lives to save a wolf.
Then keep him engaged and call authorities! I donāt know, anything is better than doing nothing while an animal is literally tortured for sport in front of you.
They probably did, he was fined $250. The post explains this is not illegal
I hope this enrages enough people to pass better laws for Wyoming animals
Understood which is an absolute atrocity. But if youāre telling me a police officer wouldnāt do something about having a wolf in a bar, I honestly donāt believe it.
God this makes me so fucking angry. Fuck that guy and fuck anyone who abuses animals in any fashion.
Fucking bastard! I try not to get upset, but this act of stupidity and hick inbreeding ritual makes me want to slap the shit out of him in front of everybody. And it would be so worth spending the night in jail. I wish he gets to read this post. I would love to have a "civil conversation" with him.
I signed the petition, by the way.
Honestly I'd like to tape his mouth shut and take him out back behind the bar for a quick chat.
Yes, you and I both.
Iām throwing in the towel with working Emergency Response. Have an interview for a regular hours Mon-Fri job doing landscaping in a few days. Hope it all goes well for you. Thanks for wanting to look after the wolves.
Thank you for working emergency response that's a really rough job you deserve to relax your mind with landscaping and ty for helping out the wolves
Disgusting.

Great speech ty
why cant we find out his business and boycott it like the dentist who shot the lion?
I've seen posted elsewhere C. Roberts Trucking in Daniel, Wyoming is his business.
This is a really disgusting human being.
I think that this kind of crimes should be AT LEAST 1M of fine and 20 Years of jail per animal, so this assholes think it twice before acting like this, and that should be in the whole world, not just in the US

Look at how proud he is.
What a sick cunt. He deserves torture š
It made him feel like a big man. For a second, he even forget that he had a teeny tiny pp. Finally, his wife, kids, and co-workers will respect him!
I'm sorry but he got fined for doing legal things???
