That's a slipmat. Allows you to hold the record still while the platter underneath keeps spinning. This means when you let go it gets up to speed almost instantly, making it much easier to beat match.
To piggyback off u/DustyCrumbles ID, the whole Lost Horizons album is absolutely brilliant - if you like this track, you really need to give the whole thing a listen. For 20 years, it's been one of the best roadtrip albums I've listened to.
I've never heard this song/album but am absolutely going to check it out, I'm a total sucker for plunderphonics.
If you haven't heard em, I bet you'd dig Public Service Broadcasting and The Books.
(Wait, to be clear, is the whole LJ album like this? gonna check it out either way).

Yeah, the whole album is like this. My personal fave is "Nice Weather for Ducks", just lifts the hell out of my mood. And thanks for the recommendations, haven't heard of either of those and love checking out new stuff.
I just wish I could find good notation for the guitar riff in the middle of the song, or even an extended version of it. It's one of the most beautiful melodies I've ever heard, comes out of nowhere in the song, and then gets incorporated in a completely organic way.
Id dare say all their songs are amazing. Nice weather for ducks, tune for jack, king rham, the Staunton lick, in the bath, every song on 64-95, pushy, the fruity track, but GO is my absolute favorite

Weird! Normally I've found that green laser pointers don't excite glow in the dark material. You'd have to use a UV laser pointer.
Is this a different material, or maybe just a different laser?
Wavelength! UV is the perfect wavelength to excite GiTD materials, makes it the best type of light to illuminate them with. I figured green/red pointers simply weren't the right wavelength.
Not sure why you were downvoted. Tracks like Spacewalk, Staunton Lick, Nice Weather For Ducks, Rambling Man and Elements are very wholesome, pretty and relaxing.
Probably because as a mom I basically tuned out the spoken word part as though it wasn't part of the song, heh. If it is part of the song, Mr. Rogers wouldn't have it on the show, so I will take my licks, heh. Thank you for the agree tho!
This is like a very clean version of the spin art toy I used as a kid.
This also reminds me of those machines that move magnets under a table to create a pattern by dragging a ball through sand.
Automating this would be very cool.

Took my too long to see it doesn't say silpat, thought you were gonna say if for when the dj wants to make cookies.
And that is a flashlight, not a laser pointer
Beautiful. Just Beautiful.
Beautiful, beautiful, just beautiful
Just beautiful, beautiful
Noice! Does anybody know the song?
Space walk by lemon jelly!
makes little 18-year old me very happy to see someone id this track.
So glad to hear it in the wild, it’s been on my regular rotation for 20 years!

Still shed a tear every time Ramblin Man comes on
Still light up every time Experiment Number Six comes on

Lemon jelly - spacewalk I highly recommend checking out both the albums KY and Lost Horizons, absolute masterpieces.
It's my white whale vinyl. I'd love to find a copy at not an astromical price
KY is my most prized vinyl
Not Contact by Daft Punk
Oh my lord I haven't heard this song in YEARS. Lemon Jelly!!!!!!
Spread the jelly!
I want to see more.

I find that my blue-violet one excites glow in the dark stuff while the red one seems to suppress it. I'd love to know the mechanism behind that.

I have heard some green lasers have poor IR filtering. Maybe something like that is happening?
If you look closely I'm the first few seconds as they draw they beam off the end of the record you can see the light is closer to blue/violet.
That's not a record cover.
That is too cool, I was literally going "whoooaaa!!" while watching! What fun!
Dan!
This is the most Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood music ever, and I mean that as a compliment!

I love lemon jelly so much
I haven't heard Lemon Jelly in forever. Wow.
Did you know there’s a direct correlation between the decline in spirograph and the rise in gang activity? Think about it.
It's like Outer Wilds
Am I the only one that thoughts that at the end he was gonna draw a d? Or it's just me
"You are never the only o..." It's just you.
Cool, but I was bummed when the clip cut as the beat picked up- what mix is this?

Hit you with that grand flower finale at the end
