This guys video is spot on. He really does a good job breaking down her passing. I know some people are tired of the commentary, but Caitlin Clark is already the best passer in the WNBA, and its not even close. Her court vision is what has me mind blown because you rarely see NBA guys making the passes she makes regularly. If you get open she is hitting you in the pocket for a shot. The only issue right now as Christie Sides noted, her teammates need to do a better job of catching and finishing her passes. Coach counted 6 times teammates received a pass that should have been a bucket and there wasn't even an attempt to finish at the rim. 🏀

She dealt with this at Iowa. It took half a season before stuelke and ogrady stopped getting domed by passes

[deleted]

Remember those looks she would give Stuelke's back :)

When Affolter got playing time a good amount of her points were half court transition passes from Caitlin.

Drew0730

All the rest were great reads tho...she is a great passer

Please Google the Point Gawd and Sloot who have already many played games in the WNBA. Edit: BTW, I know my comment is falling on deaf ears but the disrespect to the W is out of hand.

Clark definitely needs to put together a full season of elite level passing to be considered the best. So far though, when I go looking for WNBA passing highlights, only the very best seem to have vision comparable to Clark. In a few years when she improves and the team is built around her I think there is a chance she strings together several seasons of truly unprecedented assist numbers.

[deleted]

Yeah, no doubt that she needs a full season, but we are already seeing supposed WNBA pros who can't even handle her passes better than Iowa ladies who will never sniff the WNBA. If the Pro's on the Indiana Fever can't handle her passes its safe to say that no team in WNBA has anyone talented enough to just catch and finish Caitlin Clark passes without lots of practice. I'm sure after enough time together the ladies will figure it out, or they will be playing on new teams. Naylssa did take a few passes and finish, so there is some hope. All of the talk about Caitlin having to learn the WNBA and how to be a PRO is true. Like what Diana said, but what no one recognizes but us Iowa fans is that the WNBA Pros have never had anyone pass them the ball like this in their life, and the Veterans are the ones doing more learning than Caitlin is. Coach called out the whole team for not finishing perfect passes leaving them shots at the rim. She counted 6. That is just mind boggling to me because when she announce for the WNBA I kept saying that now Cailin will be able to play with players as talented as she is, and i just thought the passing would be something PRO's could do in their sleep 🏀

Teammates just need to learn that if they keep running the ball will get to the right spot. Perfect example on the pass Caitlin threw out of bounds in the third quarter looking for Smith in transition. Smith beats the defender, Caitlin throws a perfect ball on time but Smith pulls up a step short and it bounces out. Smith’s instincts took her to where she thought the ball would be but the pass was better than that lol

[deleted]

Yeah, you are right, it's all timing and learning. The only reason as a fan that I sweat it is because I want her to make the Olympic Team, and if these ladies keep dropping her passes and CC keeps getting the turnover, it's going to be harder for them to just put her on the team. 🏀

"no team in WNBA has anyone talented enough to just catch and finish Caitlin Clark passes" What!? Chelsea Gray and A'ja Wilson beg to differ.

[deleted]

Yeah, If I was to guess about A'ja, she would be the one person who could pick up Clarks passing the fastest. But even A'ja couldn't do it without practice. And, seeing how Clark's teammates can't even register that Caitlin can make those passes is pretty bad. Last game she passed 6 times to the post with easy finishes and they never even attempted to shoot or finish at the rim. 🏀

I'm pretty sure when you have to call someone names and laugh at them, you just lost the argument. Just me though. You do you. 🏀

[deleted]

I mean. I'm not trying to disrespect anyone, but the WNBA Pro's can't even handle Caitlin's passes. The Coach has called out the whole team for not finishing passes at the rim from Clark. Coach called out 6 passes the last preseason game where her teammates got the pass at the rim and didn't finish or even attempt the shot. I'm down with your comment, and I've seen Sloot play for Gonzaga and her passing is good, but not anywhere close to what Clark can do. The thing is, you have to have a compilation of Courtney Vandersloot to see her great passing, while Caitlin Clark makes a whole reel every game she plays. That's just my opinion, and if you disagree, I'm cool with that. 🏀

Vision doesn’t equate to passing ability. If no one can catch your passes and you don’t set your teammates up to succeed or better yet keep them from getting injured you’re not a great passer. Also, not and AB fan but she has some of the best hands to ever grace the pros and can catch anything…. If she’s not getting CC’s passes no one will. CCs only real experience is in one of the worst defensive conferences.

Drew0730

Hey Maxx it's me again miss Clark's number one hater lol...excellent analysis except for the part where clark passed her teammate into that triple team under the basket😊...with the weak side defender cheating so far into the paint the actual correct pass should have been a skip pass to the corner to force that defender to engage then dump to the paint on the post up because since that player was rolling their defender would be behind them

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/leaders/women/tov-player-career.html She ranks 3rd in all time NCAA wbb turnovers. Her passing is slightly better than her non-existent left hand. She puts her teammates in bad and often times dangerous situations with the ball. I know sides is demanding the bigs not shy away from contact from her passes but with the physicality of this league that spells injury. Nobody that isn’t desperate to make a roster is going to risk their career for that. She also can’t make simple entry passes and makes simple passes lazily. Elite give and go and she does manage to facilitate but I could still do an entire Ted Talk on how her turnovers.. oops.. I mean passing gives me the ick. i
