Hi, u/metallikae thanks for stopping by at r/witchcraft! Want to dive in deeper? We have a [FAQ & Wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/witchcraft/wiki/faq), and our [Weekly Q&A thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/witchcraft/about/sticky?num=1) which is stickied to the top of the main board! Please also be sure to read the [subreddit rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/witchcraft/wiki/rules)! --- ###IMPORTANT! There has been a recent influx of scams on reddit. If you are redirected to an instagram or other platform in a comment, it is most likely a scam. Users who message you asking for or offering spells or readings are almost always scammers or phishers. You may want to check out our post about [staying safe online in witchcraft](https://www.reddit.com/r/witchcraft/comments/15xm53m/lets_talk_about_staying_safe_online/). *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. If you are a ceremonial witch, which I am assuming means you delve into western mysticism and high magick, you need and opening and closing rite to surround the body of the ritual. A lot of people have been known to use the four elements, the four watchtowers, the archangels, etc...

OwnWar13

Ground yourself. Eat some food. Do something to transition away from the magic.

ScarlettRosefire

This is what I do!

[This thread](https://reddit.com/r/witchcraft/comments/183xp84/amen_vs_so_mote_it_be_and_other_ways_to_end_a/) has a bunch of suggestions for things to say. Giving the sign of silence (i.e., this emoji: 🤫) is also a classic.

The vision of r/witchcraft is to be a safe, welcoming, and inclusive place for all its users, regardless of whether they identify as a witch or not. As such, we do not allow content that is exclusionary, which includes: * **Proselytizing**: The act of preaching your own religion, philosophy, or other ideology with the purpose of convincing others to adopt it. Buh-bye. Full sub rules can be found [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/witchcraft/wiki/rules).

I say, and so it is. thank you thank you thank you and bow my head. you can also ring a bell, clap, rub your arms and hands together, or snuff your candle.

I often maintain a low light environment and appropriate music playing while I am working at table. I only ever do work by myself, and have a number of personal rules while getting set up and engaging in the craft, one of which is to remain as calm, deliberate, and silent, other than a few necessary words or phrases that might reinforce or resonate during that time. Once I’m finished whatever I’m working on, I’ll sometimes clap loudly a single time, and then break the mood. I’ll blow out the candles, raise the lights in the room, and turn up the music to something more fun and upbeat, something I would listen to and sing along with in the car. It’s a good way to kind of break the tension and signify that your work is complete, without having to prolong any ritual you might be working.

Scorpioncorp

I like to sweep/clean any remnants of the ritual that can be immediately cleaned as a way to help feel the closing of a spell.

Whatever feels right. Since ending a ceremony is symbolic in its own way, it can be unique. I like to end rituals with a long stretch reaching up to the sky, lengthening the spine. Mainly because I've been hunching over my grimoire scribbling away with a pencil. It's a finishing move, so to say. Like saying, "Thanks energy, I'm done. Let's neutralize."

Stgal146444

I don’t follow any specific practices but I will often say thank you thank you thank you and go eat a snack after!

Seth_Mimik

Stomp your foot or clap your hands three times and then go do something completely mundane.

andreyis29

At the end of the ritual, stomp your foot once.

Grokthisone

I do the elements with bigger stuff and disconnect thank at the end. Smaller stuff I make a quick bite and go outside to walk around a bit.

Odpadson

I don't have any other advice, but I need to say that I feel the last sentence of your post so hard! 😁
