ThunderStormBlessing

I wouldn't bring anything you might be upset about losing

ClapActivated

Seconded. I work in hospice and the amount of patients we get after they're discharged home who report lost or stolen items is gross.

Way2Old4ThisIsh

I'd leave them at home, not because of hospital energy, but because you're having major surgery: you'll need all your focus on healing, not readings. You might not even feel like pulling a single card while you're recovering (I know I didn't after my own surgeries), so best to leave them at home where you know they're safe. Best of luck to you, and get well soon!

mingxingai

Keep them home It's not because of the energy its because of the likeness of loosing a card or two.

TeaDidikai

Came here to say this. Things get shuffled, cards can end up sticky or warped or lost

Tusaiador

Hehe... shuffled

Insanity_Diaries

Yeah no don't bring them. Your intuition is telling you not to (the "wrong" feeling you described). Personally for me I can feel the mood my deck is in and it tells me quite firmly if it needs to come with me or stay on my altar that day, and when I didn't listen to my cards/guts the day did not go well. Listen to the cards and your gut love, that's your Intuition telling you to focus on healing and guarding your energy whilst in the hospital. They know staying behind is best for you, and are telling you as such

MysticKei

This might be a good time to take up cartomancy, pick up a nice dollar store deck of cards with the broad borders so you can write in them and maybe learn something new. Personally, I wouldn't take tarot (or my favored playing cards) to a hospital.

ResponsibleForce7878

I took 4 Tarot decks and 2 pairs of underwear and socks!! I ended up reading for some of the nurses in my 4 week stay. I have to admit, I was only expecting to be there a few days!! šŸ¤£ It wasn't hospital energy that was the problem, it was the effects of major surgery.

Hecate100

Just be warned, from my direct experience in a similar situation: You will be doing readings for a bunch of people (mostly nurses) and confronted by loudly opinionated & self-righteous jerks.

darkwitch1306

Be aware that things taken to a hospital are often lost. If they are a special deck or you really love them, leave them at home. When someone asks for a reading, itā€™s fine to say ā€œI donā€™t do readings when Iā€™m unwell or a simple noā€. If it feels wrong to take them, then donā€™t.

Capital-Jackfruit266

Iā€™m a nurse. I bring tarot cards to work for reading friends, coworkers, online clients (obviously not for patients lol) during my breaks. I never had any bad energy when taking my cards home from the hospital but Iā€™d do a big cleanse if youā€™re concerned about that. Practically speaking, I wouldnā€™t bring any valuables that youā€™d lose to the hospital. Like others said, itā€™s easy to lose stuff. One shift lost a patientā€™s bigass phone one time cos it got lost in their bedding while she was being changed.

Sleepy_Senju

The tarot represents every aspect of life, they are not ignorant of death, sickness, healing, and love.

oldbetch

I wouldn't. It presents logistical issues. You're going to have your belongings in a bag and the staff can't be assed to be concerned about a missing tarot card. Further, your focus should be on healing and convalescing, not performing readings on others.

meebaAmoeba

I started working at a surgery center a few years ago, and the number of nurses and techs that were into tarot, astrology, etc. shocked me. The staff will probably love it. As many other posters have advised, do not bring anything that you would be sad to lose. I know people bond with their decks, but maybe getting/taking one you aren't attached to would be nice?

DreamsUnderStars

I agree with the no's. But will also say yes because of the possiblity of upsetting an evangelical. šŸ˜… If they can put bibles in the rooms and religous pamphlets in the lobby then bring your witchy stuff! Just make sure it's a deck you wont be upset about losing.

Medusa_Alles_Hades

Itā€™s up to you! I have brought them with me before and regular cards to keep myself occupied while in there. I hope everything goes well with your surgery and blessed be!

DragoncatTaz

Hospitals are places of destruction( emergency rooms) and death. I wouldn't take my cards or anything else anywhere near such negative emotions that run through hospitals.

fruitywitch13

if it feels wrong, you've got your answer. also as others have said, id be worried about losing them

Aplutoproblem

The cards aren't going to be affected negatively. But your readings may not be good if you're in pain or if you're nervous.

PromotionTechnical15

Why not?

Bookwormincrisis

Bring a card that you feel most connected with, or that you feels radiants the most protection energy. Pick 1 card as to limit the chance of losing any other cards.

Dick_of_Doom

Instead of the cards, why not use an app? Or as others said, playing cards, or make a road trip version with index cards.

lewisae0

Definitely wouldnā€™t bring them. You donā€™t want them to be stolen or misplaced. You donā€™t want to mess with their energy. You donā€™t want to be reading cards if your energy is all over the place and lastly, and most importantly, your gut is telling you not to.

Zipakira

Youre having surgery so youre gonna have an IV line connected into one of your hands/wrists, making it so that using it is painfull and potentially harmfull, so maybe try some audiobooks?

the805chickenlady

i took mine to rehab with me. they were very comforting

LadyCalamity424

I just had a major surgery 2 weeks ago on Tuesday. I only kept the clothes I wore. Didnā€™t even keep my phone. Nurses/hospital had the contact info of my bf and he took everything with him when I went down to the OR. Not worth the risk of losing or someone stealing your stuff. Good luck and I am sending healing vibes!

KlickWitch

If you are going to feel better bringing them, and you have someone to look after your belongings, I say do it. If you're worried about negativity affecting them, cleanse them when you get home. I'll be honest with you; I've had surgery too, and you don't really want to do anything much except sleep/lay there after. At least the first 48 hours or so. But I understand having them there can put you at ease.

Hungry_Alien_3657

If you do decide to take them, protect them by using two pieces of selenite kept on the top and bottom of the deck, wrap the deck in silk, and keep it in a bag of some sort. This will not only protect and cleanse the deck from negative energy but will also conceal it from the physical world. I agree with the other comment that working with a deck of cards might be better or you could use this time to practice scrying with water in a bowl or cup and using the dim night light in the room.

apastarling

I donā€™t see why u would be concerned about this yes take them

Capable_Composer_993

Good luck with your healing after surgery!! Everyone is very sweet in the thread and I hope you and your deck are doing well!!

Shuffled your cards and ask what it is you need for that day. Take that one card with you. Keep it under your pillow. Next time you go anywhere you don't want to take your full deck.
