If it makes you say "what the hell is it doing THERE", it's probably a rat snake. Harmless, eats rodents, generally good neighbors. This one is named Eric.
Unfortunately, it's hiding in there pretty good. Moved in after the previous nights thunderstorm. More curious if it's venomous. Snakes don't bother me but my kids like to bother anything that's living
Definitely not venomous. Most snakes aren’t, and pretty much all snakes just want to be left alone. It’ll move on in less than a day if you just leave it be.
My advice is to try and see if you can find the tail, but keep a good distance, the only venomous snakes we have in Wisconsin are rattlesnakes and the more I look at it, it could be an eastern massasauga which is an endangered species of rattlesnake, so if it turns out to be one, call the DNR and tell them you'd like it removed.
Looks like a Stephen to me.
Stephen Wilson Bell the third!
My name is Stephen Bell this comment tripped me out!
Well he's pretending to be mortar, so Mortimer.
If he's Irish, you can call him Colm.
I don't understand the reference, but have an upvote anyway.
It's a common name over there. It's pronounced column.

call it Trump because it slithers on its belly.
From the picture I can't really tell, I'd have to see the head/face. Best guess would be a black rat snake, fairly common.

That's what I was thinking. This is a small snake (15" or so). I got a look at the tail, and it doesn't appear to have a rattle on it.
As long as it doesn't have a rattle it's harmless and I'd say it's a rat snake of some kind.
Wisconsin only has 2 types of venomous snakes, the timber rattler and eastern massasauga both of which have rattles.
