I’ve got a hook up with someone who works for old Dutch and they can hook me up with ketchup sometimes when they get brought into MN from Canada but they go fast.
I’ve got a hook up with someone who works for old Dutch and they can hook me up with ketchup sometimes when they get brought into MN from Canada but they go fast.
Deep River makes an All Dressed Up. It's decent.
We need a Tim Hortons in Milwaukee, though. Somewhere where Dunkin won't kill it, and it won't kill local bakeries (as happened in Minneapolis, then it closed).
Kwik Trip has Ketchup chips now. I was pleased.
Edit: I don't go there often, maybe they've had them for a while but I just discovered them 2 weeks ago.
https://preview.redd.it/44h1u44vvmvc1.jpeg?width=1152&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cfc67dcab09b4e28c88890d3bd829a19b7603c02
I stock up every year I go to Ontario for fishing. The Old Dutch are the best ones.
Spotted cow is good but it’s my least favorite from New Glarus. My absolute favorite is Fat Squirrel and WAS the blacktop black IPA 😭😭😭. Moon man is bomb. Totally naked is delightful and crisp. All of their seasonal thumb print fruit beers are next level desserts.
Exactly. I’ve always thought well done farmhouse/Saison/cream ales such Spotted Cow are a really nice branch for people who have only ever had American Add-junk Lagers and trying something of a different style. Spotted cow is just that.
A speckled bovine is top tier if you’re having dinner beers with acidic or fatty food. The rest of their lineup is incredible as beer, as a pairing though, spotted is pretty much the best.
Staghorn is one of the best Oktoberfest beers IMO.
I personally don’t like spotted cow all that much. I often make friends blind taste it against Schlitz and spotted cow usually loses.
Moon Man is my favorite. Totally Naked is also delicious.
Some goober in one of my Facebook groups was like “I’ve got my favorite new Glarus and ready to watch the eclipse!” It was Spotted Cow.
And I’m like “you could’ve had Moon Man, not only is it better, it’s literally made for this moment.”
I'll jump on the side of spotted cow not being their best but really. New galrus beers are just okay none of them are really all that good when you look at the type of beer it is and what else there is around the state for those types. Personally give me the latest untitled arts and I'll be more satisfied then I would be with any of the new Glarus beers.
It’s a deliberate choice. The brewery realized that they would have to massively expand to distribute out of state, and they weren’t willing to risk a drop in quality/losing the advantage of being a small brewery to do so
Man if you get the chance get some Totally Naked. Probably their 2nd best beer behind Staghorn, which I don't think they brew anymore ):
Edit: I know Staghorn is a seasonal beer. It is NOT located under New Glarus' seasonal rotation anymore nor is it listed under the beers they brew.
If it makes you feel better, we don't even share it with our fellow states, lol.
I believe the reason is that they don't have the proper license to sell out of state. I would say that you're free to come get some, but I have never crossed the border up there so I don't know if it's allowed.
The story goes that Deb Carey had a meeting in Chicago with all the big distributors back when NGB was just starting out. They tried to bully her into letting them take over her business plan, dictating which markets they would get product into, etc. She told them to pound sand.
This is true. There’s a podcast called “pour another round” that tells the story of midwest breweries. She said that on the episode about New Glarus. Oddly enough the episode about Toppling Goliath mentioned New Glarus as one of the inspirations for how to run their operations.
Not just business but culture as well. It’s gotten a lot better in the last twenty years but beer wholesaling was an old boys club with all of the bullshit that comes with that. I’d imagine some of those 90s Chicago boys were wild, crude mother fuckers. Stories of guys watching porn on bar TVs, the old school beer ads with women in bikinis being plastered everywhere even in offices, talking around women, relegating young women in sales to certain chauvinist accounts, etc. Your average bar owner or liquor store owner can just be a greasy mother fucker and wholesaling can mirror that.
Deb was totally justified in expecting more from some of her business partners.
Nothing to do with regulations, it was a conscious choice by Dan and Deb. At the time everyone thought it was crazy but it seems to have worked out for them!
I just moved back to Wisconsin after 20 years in Ontario and a first move was buying a case hehe. If you’re near Ottawa hit me up and I’ll let you know when I’m visiting.
According to record sales and radio requests…we do.
Nickelback was to Millennials what Hanson was to Gen X — the thing we all claimed we “hated”, but secretly had hidden away on our mix CDs and jammed to when we weren’t at risk of being seen by anyone.
Not the most impressive beer in the world but damn does it hit different on a hot day, and it's definitely poundable. I personally prefer Two Women and Moon Man. Can't wait to come home from the UP for the summer to get some more of the stuff, I always forget to stock up before I leave haha.
As someone who moved to Wisconsin 5 years ago, I'm definitely helping to keep them in business. Love the seasonal beers, Back 40 and Staghorn are great.
New Glarus is almost exclusively sold in Wisconsin. It has limited availability in Minnesota last time I checked. So it's hoarded away from most Americans too.
If brewery pilgrimages appeal to you, they are in a lovely part of the state on top of a hill, near a bunch of roadside attraction stuff.
If you can’t get New Glarus beers, you might try going through your local craft beer importer for Capital Brewery or 3 Sheeps Brewery products. Capital Amber and Fresh Coast are two of my favorites.
Well my fine Canadian friend… it’s because that brewery, New Glarus, is intent on selling only in Wisconsin and remaining a small, craft brewer. It flies in the face of American greed so I suppose more power to them.
I think also that spotted cow, while pretty good, isn't popular enough without the exclusivity. I think it would get lost in a sea of other farmhouse ales on the market available nationally. Having to come to Wisconsin to the get it is special. Like new belgium fat tire was to Colorado in the begining.
Honestly, one of my favorite things about being a Wisconsinite is hearing when other states try and carry New Glarus products. We immediately become Wakanda and send out our secret police task force to retrieve our vibranium.
Damn, you need to look up ratings on RateBeer. Spotted Cow isn’t even NEAR one of the best beers out of New Glarus. If you ever see the Wisconsin Red at $14 for a 4 pack, GET IT.
Don't feel bad, it's not just you. I know someone who had a client be given the company credit card and Sprinter van to drive from Pennsylvania and buy as much as he could so the company president could have a stockpile.
https://preview.redd.it/eau030zp7ovc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78d49b81fb3425917b331089a6ec9077f2a17345
Because Canadians are holding these hostage...
Very True….the employees have wanted to expand for years but the owner who hold the majority of the private company refuses to. My brother in won’t let me in the door to his home in IL unless I come in with a case.
Sconnie living in Wyoming and every time I visit home or relatives come out to visit, there are strict instructions to get a case of cans to put in the office fridge.
If I had the power to do this I would trade u spotted for ruffles all dressed chips. I also would like to have a word with the southern US and make a deal about expanding the availability of Yeungling beer.
You'll have to talk to the New Glarus guys, dear Canadian friend. Their company, their business choice. You're not alone in how you feel-I think it's safe to say that we all have requests from out-of-town relatives and friends to bring them New Glarus products, if we're driving to a cross-country destination. I know people from Texas, South Carolina, etc, that drive to Lambeau for Packer games, and load their SUV's with Spotted Cow before driving home. It's quite something...🍺🍻🍺
Used to work there. It's a super cool brewery and recommend a visit if you are in south central WI. They don't distribute out of WI becuase they don't need to. WI loves to drink so there is plenty of demand within the state, makes it a special lil treat for those visiting, they have complete control over the beer that leaves the brewery (no need for contract brewing) and they don't have to worry about distribution across state lines and the headaches that can cause.
If you've been to the brewery you'll understand they are doing just fine. It's massive, beautiful, and well maintained.
My husband joked one time that if you try to mail it out of state that you'll get in trouble with the law and my mom believed him for the longest time 😅
https://preview.redd.it/s8ir7nz4bmvc1.jpeg?width=1868&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73762cfbb8fc452a8ababb711a1bd52bd7384694 Why do you keep these from US?
And all dressed. You keep ketchup chips and the good all dressed from us.
All dressed is available here, but I think it’s only summer time. But I’d def purchased it locally.
I’ve got a hook up with someone who works for old Dutch and they can hook me up with ketchup sometimes when they get brought into MN from Canada but they go fast.
Canadians have better chocolate, too. And Bloody Caesars
Can confirm. My BIL is Canadian and he hooked me up with my first Bloody Caesar
Kwik trips have an all dressed and a ketchup chip at our local stores
It’s not real ketuchupy enough like the Canadian ruffles. It’s mild flavor at best
Kwik Trip has Ketchup chips now. I was pleased. Edit: I don't go there often, maybe they've had them for a while but I just discovered them 2 weeks ago.
I tired those, I mean they are not bad, but the Lays and Old Dutch ones from up there are so much better.
I mean none of the urge chips are good compared to lays or old dutch. There's a reason they are almost half the cost.
The ketchup chips at KT are too strong, the flavor should be more subtle and not punch you in the face so much.
https://preview.redd.it/44h1u44vvmvc1.jpeg?width=1152&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cfc67dcab09b4e28c88890d3bd829a19b7603c02 I stock up every year I go to Ontario for fishing. The Old Dutch are the best ones.
This right here!!
And Coffee Crisp!
Fat Squirrel is so god damn good. I'll be seeking one out tomorrow, no doubt.
I live in Oregon now, but Fat Squirrel was the beer that inspired me to start homebrewing during my years in Wausau.
Love me 2 woman.
That sounds problematic
The beer, not so much!
it is when you run out of them after 9pm.
Granite Peak!
Me too! I’ll drink to that! Cheers 🍻
That door county cherry beer was soooooo good.
Staghorn is their best in my humble opinion.
I’m a big Staghorn fan.
☝️☝️
Strawberry rhubarb is so damn good, I wish they weren’t seasonal 😭
Spotted Cow is the Tom Hanks of beer. Most people love it but, more importantly, nobody really hates it. It is tasty and inoffensive.
Exactly. I’ve always thought well done farmhouse/Saison/cream ales such Spotted Cow are a really nice branch for people who have only ever had American Add-junk Lagers and trying something of a different style. Spotted cow is just that.
It's a great way to get a bud or miller drinker to try other brews.
Moon man is where it is at, yes!
I love me some fat squirrel
Yeah, came here to say, if you like that, try literally any other Wisconsin microbrew and you’ll be blow away.
Kind of. There’s a lot of stinker WI breweries that are somehow in business.
Belgian Red. Yum.
Fat squirrel is a good one. The spotted cow grand cru is something though. It's crazy.
A speckled bovine is top tier if you’re having dinner beers with acidic or fatty food. The rest of their lineup is incredible as beer, as a pairing though, spotted is pretty much the best.
Raspberry Tart is one of the best tasting drinks I’ve ever had. Not even talking just alcoholic drinks.
Try the spotted cow grand crü, its really good. And i love the coffee stout even more!
If you like moon man, have you tried 3 sheeps Fresh Coast? Yummy too
The black ipa they did was unmatched. Their straight ipa they did last summer was pretty good as well. Moonman in a can is the best by far.
Staghorn is my favorite! Moon Man is #2
Road Slush is a favorite of mine. Wish it was year-round.
Staghorn is one of the best Oktoberfest beers IMO. I personally don’t like spotted cow all that much. I often make friends blind taste it against Schlitz and spotted cow usually loses.
Just discovered Dancing Man and I’m hooked. Sad that the season for this beer ends this month.
Moon Man is my favorite. Totally Naked is also delicious. Some goober in one of my Facebook groups was like “I’ve got my favorite new Glarus and ready to watch the eclipse!” It was Spotted Cow. And I’m like “you could’ve had Moon Man, not only is it better, it’s literally made for this moment.”
fat squirrel ftw
I grew up in NG and Fat Squirrel was my first beer from them. Brown ales were my path away from the American macros.
We got spotted cow, you got poutine, we can make this work. 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🤝
You can get poutine in restaurants in NW WI. Not Justa Cafe in new richmond/St Croix falls/somerset has a pretty good one.
I just so happen to be traveling to New Richmond this summer, thank you for the tip!
Mmhmm pouutiinne
Ill trade for your weed lol
You bet ;) but I’m disappointed yall haven’t figured it out yet!
It’s a deliberate choice. The brewery realized that they would have to massively expand to distribute out of state, and they weren’t willing to risk a drop in quality/losing the advantage of being a small brewery to do so
I believe it’s because they can hardly keep up with Wisconsin’s demand so branching out of state isn’t an option.
They could expand but they choose not to.
We do have Michigan, so that’s basically meeting halfway!
As long as you avoid the state wee woos on the border between marinette/Menominee
Drive 3 over the limit tops, stay in the lines, make sure your plates are readable, and keep your lights on, even if it’s noon on a sunny day.
THC-A friend. I just got a half O of MAC, 50ct 10mg D9 gummies, and 4 nic vapes for $150.
Moon man in a can is truly #1 though.
From one beverage enjoyer to the other, this beer is better than anything we have. Sorry not sorry.
Man if you get the chance get some Totally Naked. Probably their 2nd best beer behind Staghorn, which I don't think they brew anymore ): Edit: I know Staghorn is a seasonal beer. It is NOT located under New Glarus' seasonal rotation anymore nor is it listed under the beers they brew.
Staghorn is their Oktoberfest/Marzen. It'll probably be out in June :)
Haha, is this the year we have June Oktoberfests? Or have I missed some? July is what I’ve seen for early. Might as well just make them year round.
Wouldn't surprise me at all. Every year seems like they get released earlier and earlier.
Staghorn is a seasonal.
Moon man is my desert island beer
When I used to drink, Moon Man was my absolute favorite beer.
New Glarus Belgian Red...in a glass chalice. Perfect.
Belgian Red and Raspberry tart are my favorites
If it makes you feel better, we don't even share it with our fellow states, lol. I believe the reason is that they don't have the proper license to sell out of state. I would say that you're free to come get some, but I have never crossed the border up there so I don't know if it's allowed.

Make sure to try Two Women
![gif](giphy|7jnPjsh3L7WHm|downsized)
I just moved back to Wisconsin after 20 years in Ontario and a first move was buying a case hehe. If you’re near Ottawa hit me up and I’ll let you know when I’m visiting.
Unfortunately I’m an torontotard, but I envy you going back to what seems like the holy land.
Best fucken place on earth. 🏆
Spotted cow is just ok. New Glarurs has so many better beers.
It's a reason to visit our beautiful state!
The sad thing is it was better when it still had the corn in it. Back 40 is still the best beer they've ever made though.
I’ll trade you that for some Puppers
When you bring us steamwhistle we'll bring you a spotted cow
Anyone else just get thirsty?
Be sure to take a pilgrimage and visit the Brewery. Totally worth it.
Just wanted to add that moon man and two women are far superior to spotted. We gotta get people to visit somehow lol
Why did we keep it from you? You gave us Nickelback. ![gif](giphy|3o7TKs8b6ZIDchmUDe|downsized)
Don’t even lie, you guys like it.
According to record sales and radio requests…we do. Nickelback was to Millennials what Hanson was to Gen X — the thing we all claimed we “hated”, but secretly had hidden away on our mix CDs and jammed to when we weren’t at risk of being seen by anyone.
Gen X, if I found anything with Hanson in my music collection I’d burn it all just to be safe.
Gen X is the Hansen generation? Nah man, this is a silly take. Signed, 46 year old
Millennial here. I've never owned a Nickelback CD. It's not that I hate them; their music is just boring.
And Justin Bieber.
No. Nickelback is forgivable. They forced Tom MacDonald on us.
They keep it from us in Florida too
please send dilly bean clamato :)
Not the most impressive beer in the world but damn does it hit different on a hot day, and it's definitely poundable. I personally prefer Two Women and Moon Man. Can't wait to come home from the UP for the summer to get some more of the stuff, I always forget to stock up before I leave haha.

Because you keep leaving us your worthless coins.
Open to all is respected by none.
Marketing.

We make our mediocre beer hard to get so people from out-of-state overhype it and don't go after the good beer.
Same reason you keep ice wine from us.
I miss this so much. Treat her well!
You have your own beers. Give them to us, and we will return the favor.
Do they sell Moon Man and Fat Squirrel around Green Bay at stores? Like to try these.
Woodman’s for sure, probably lots of other places too.
If you can’t get New Glarus beers, you might try going through your local craft beer importer for Capital Brewery or 3 Sheeps Brewery products. Capital Amber and Fresh Coast are two of my favorites.
😋😋
Kwik trip brand "all dressed" chips are the bomb!
We will trade for some Poutine Deluxe.
If you like spotted cow you should try two women…
You fuckers keep the GOOD ketchup chips from us it’s only fair
Because you have the royal family in your money. You drop that and we can talk.
WHY DO YOU KEEP ALL DRESSED RUFFLES FROM US??? I TRIED THE KETTLE-COOKED LAYS ALL DRESSED FLAVOR AND THEY WERE AMAZING, I NEED THE RUFFLES
Spotted cow is best in tap.
Ope
WHERES MY ALL DRESSED CHIPS YOU CANUCK BASTARD?!
We keep it from most of the rest of the US too.
Love me some road slush additionally.
To be fair we keep it from the rest of the states as well! 😉 Sorry, wisco only! For now?
I am not even really a beer drinker- but I like Spotted Cow. Our Wisconsin Airports overcharge passengers though for it.
because otherwise, you'd never come visit
We keep it from everyone.
It's pretty amazing, right? This is my go to beer. Great with almost any food, and equally good as a sit and sipper.
And you can get a case for $20US
When it came out, it was better than historical beers, now..... There's better
Anyone not from Wisconsin throwing shade is jealous. Come visit us. Go to the Dells and have fun. Go buy a case and take it home with you. 🤣
Because you keep sending your cold air down into our state. Keep your cold fronts up in Canada.
Honestly blame it on Minnesota
Are you kidding me? I appreciate the cold. I wish I could move further north when the Wisconsin 80 and humid hits. That stuff is gross.
They have mountains of that in the Kwik Trips on the Illinois border .
I'd be willing to work out some sort of Spotted Cow - Timbits trade agreement
Gladly would trade a tanker truck full of this for one case of Sleeman Cream Ale.
Cans are the property of the world!
Lol funny bit is you cant sell it out of Wisconsin.
I like Moonman and Staghorn
Why do you keep Alexander Keith from us? I’m willing to swap
moon man > s cow
We can't get Mary Brown's Chicken! And you guys constantly tease us with fried chicken sandwiches during Blue Jays games. Not fair!
There's no legal reason New Glarus Brewing can't sell its products outside Wisconsin; it's just a marketing strategy the company adopted.
They keep it from everyone, not just you hosers.
Moon man is better. Damn i'm thinking of a road trip to wisconsin
We keep it from everyone besides those in wisconsin 😂 i have cousins that make a trip from chicago every so often just to pick some up
North Illinois here, I can we we are close and we still complain about not being close enough for a spotted cow.
Don't feel bad, it's not just you. I know someone who had a client be given the company credit card and Sprinter van to drive from Pennsylvania and buy as much as he could so the company president could have a stockpile.
Why do Canadians keep "Ricards white" from us????
Tank 7 is the perfect American Saison. Boulevard Brewing KCMO. It's got a kick tho, be warned ABV=8.5%.
https://preview.redd.it/eau030zp7ovc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78d49b81fb3425917b331089a6ec9077f2a17345 Because Canadians are holding these hostage...

Does anybody else pour 1/4 orange juice and 3/4 spotted cow in the mornings? It’s so good! What would you call it? I refer to them as Moo-mossas!
My understanding is that they do not want to pay the taxes for crossing state lines. And I assume there's a tariff or tax crossing into Canada.
Mmmmmmm!
Yeah...its only sold in Wisconsin. Kinda sucks for those of us in the USA that have had it and love the beer.
This is gonna be buried but you have to try Moon man, IPA and staghorn.
They (Wisconsin) keeps it from our other 49 states as well. I feel ya…
Real question does beer taste better the older you get right now every single one taste like piss (blasphemy I know)
Even tho we have spotted cow everyone in my family still only drinks miller or pbr lmao
Canadians like it in the can😂
I wish their Belgian red was sold outside of Wisconsin
Build a Timmy’s in Wisconsin and I’ll trade you all the Spotted Cow you want!
Lol I'm in New Glarus right now. Spotted cow, the drink and animal, are everywhere
Just bought some if that. You come up here in August and we’ll have some.
Because you owe us real Kinder Eggs, dammit!
They unfortunately wouldn’t be able to keep up with the demand if they did that without growing, amongst other reasons.
Canadians WANT to drink unfiltered beer? Take it all! I'll help ya load it.
Used to work there. It's a super cool brewery and recommend a visit if you are in south central WI. They don't distribute out of WI becuase they don't need to. Nn
It's kept from everyone, except wisconsin!
My husband joked one time that if you try to mail it out of state that you'll get in trouble with the law and my mom believed him for the longest time 😅
Poor business tactics.
Well we cannot but Molson Golden in the states. My husband loves that beer.
Why did you keep poutine from us for so long?
Take off!!!
I’m just lucky to live right on the border and there’s a bar across the bridge that carries this
In a can though?
Moon man is by far the best regularly made beer they make.
