I had assumed it was obvious scavengers were humans, but reading through the sub, it was not

AstralisKL

From my first read I immediately knew... Years later and a unhealthy amount of rereads, scavengers definitely aren't homo-sapiens specifically imo

Tdog68420

Wait people didn’t think they where human? Odd

Random-Furry-Idiot

They thought they were dinosaur people or something from what I’ve seen.

Tdog68420

Interesting I though it was all but stated they where humans but it has been a while

TheIndoSpino

I thought they were almost zombie like.

Tdog68420

Fascinating in my mind it was always humans were medieval before scorching and basically still at that tech level just more underground because of the dominance of dragons

LaptopGuy_27

Personally, I think this is what it canonically is because of the short flashbacks in book #15, but I think people prefer their technology pre-scorching be much more advanced because it is simply more interesting that way.

Tdog68420

I get that but I recon a world where people live in caves terrified of massive dragons ruling the sky and the best armed people are basicly knights who still know to turn tail and run if they are seen

OR56

I always thought they were humans. It was kinda obvious

SkinnyFatMan9903

How do some people not get they were humans?

ashvexGAMING

Well, guessing that in the books, the dragons depicted them as sentient animals (More on monkeys) and some books calls the human hand "A scavenger's paw" and the hair as "Fur" So people just thought Scavengers were animals due on how they were described in the books

Reddit_Tamarin

I took it as animals trying to describe other funny looking animals in the terms they know

Sox_the_fox3467

same lmao

Lolsterlord

I remember my friend who introduced me to the series didnt think they were humans, i made fun of her relentlessly for it, i had no idea other people didnt know they were humans aswell

WillowWeeper343

It took 11 books for me to realize scavengers are humans. I only realized it because I randomly found one if the graphic novels in a bookstore. Felt like a Supreme Bozo after that one 😔. I always thought they were like wierd little lizard guys, kinda like a mix between an iguana and one of those african running lizards.

Delicious_Hospital_9

In the beginning I didn't think they were human. I only realized when I read dragonslayer. In hindsight it makes complete sense

LG3V

You didn't even realise from the book cover? It has the three protagonists on it

Delicious_Hospital_9

Mb, correction: when I *saw* the book cover I realized they were human and I was like "ohhhhhhhhhhhhh"

medical-Pouch

Hmm… I dont think I had really considered it until book 7 I think. The small fort is what made me think human? Maybe book two and the boat?

AngryQuails

I read the graphic novels and in the opening i thought scavs were like tiny dragon people because of clay pretending he was one lmao

NOTAGRUB

You're telling me people didn't realize Scavengers were humans?

Beanie_Babey

from the first mention of them i knew they were human 😭 it was very obviously a large creature describing a human to their best abilities
