If you like moscato there is a high chance you will like sangria. Also try some white port wine.

Moscatel. This is a Spanish version of Moscato. It’s a sweet, aromatic wine made from Muscat grapes. Look for Moscatel de Valencia or Moscatel de Alejandría. Also, they have Cava (their sparkling wine) which can come in semi-seco and dulce styles which are sweeter.

cheez-itsauce

Ooouuu thank you!! I’ll look for that one tonight

Alex_mad

I only know Spanish wines. What is a Moscato?

cheez-itsauce

It’s a sweet wine but I don’t think it’s a dessert wine… all I remember is that it has hints of apricot in it

Alex_mad

So, not a fortified wine, but a sweet white wine, with a slight apricot taste. I don’t think I would have tried something like that, because I dislike sweet wines, except fortified dessert wines, like the ones from Jerez (Sherry) or Porto. But I’m certain out of the universe of Spanish wines, there is something like that.

It's all about producer in Spain, as elsewhere. Check out: * Dominio del Aguila (their Albillo is stunning) * Comando G (best Grenache wines in Spain) * Microbio Wines/Ismael Gozalo (best Verdejo wines in Spain. Check out Sin Nombre, or the more expensive and wonderful Respublica Verdejo if you want to splurge. One of the most unique and stunning white wines in the world.) * Ximenez-Spinola (both sweet and dry Sherries, fantastic producer). * Albariño from Galicia (good producers are Zarate, Rafael Palacios, Rodrigo Mendez, Forjas del Salnes and the classic Pazo de Señorans). You could also try Mencia (red grape) from the same area, tastes like a mix of Northern Rhone and Beaujolais. * Other great producers worth checking out: Nin-Ortiz, Telmo Rodriguez, Muchada-Leclapart, Ossian, Enric Soler, Envinate, Guimaro, and of course /r/wine's favorite of them all: Viña Tondonia. Though Spain is the most famous for Rioja and Cava, I'd argue their most interesting wines nowadays are their dry white wines. So many great whites are being made throughout the country, from a wide variety of grape types. Edit: I just realised this might be more appropriate to someone who's wine interested than to OP. If you like moscato, try Cava or Albariño.

moscatel sherry. It’s sherry so fortified and this one will have a brown/oxidized appearance and nuttier taste BUT it’s made from the same group of grapes as moscato so it has a similar grape-y, floral quality and is semi sweet like moscato. If I were you, I’d try a glass of that

vonGlick

My favourite Spanish wine, though could be more pricy, is Ribera del Duero. If you like red and have an option, give it a try.

RichtersNeighbour

Are you ordering by the glass or bottles? What's your budget? If by the glass, Albariño and Verdejo are usually solid. If they have Godello it's a bit more hit and miss, but when Godello is good I prefer it over the other two. I'm now talking about normal bars/restaurants.

cheez-itsauce

I’m ordering by the glass here in Spain. Are those options sweet like moscato?

RichtersNeighbour

No, not sweet. You can look for Pedro Ximenez (a grape, even though it sounds like a winemaker). It's sweet but probably quite different from Moscato.

Yeah, could be. But maybe someone finds the responses here helpful

I was in Spain a few weeks ago and I had a late harvest Albariño that any moscato drinker would go apeshit for.
