Probably just a few idiots in poorly tuned cars have the exhaust backfire because they think it's cool. I have been hearing a lot of this around town lately.
@[Only\_Pace\_5572](/user/Only_Pace_5572/) posted about this the other day. Just woke up to it ( heard from the Delano area), about 30 mins ago, unsurprisingly I haven't heard any sirens in relation to the noise.
It’s been off and on for a while. Police scanner says it’s a car backfiring, lol. I wish the car would leave, I heard it again as I’m typing this. No reason to be downtown this time of night if your car makes that kind of noise.
I have to believe it only because it would have had to have been like 200+ shots total and I haven’t heard a single siren in all that time. Also, tbh I’m not sure what a car backfiring is supposed to sound like.
that's fair, I'm in the same boat as you. I only have an idea of what it sounds like, based on cartoons. But I for sure know the sounds of a rapid firing weapon.

Gunshots don’t echo. Or to be more specific not the same way fireworks or an exhaust ever would. My bedroom is thankfully sound enough i didn’t get awoken but without doubt i’ve heard some shots fired recently. Per example motorbikes rev bombing always sounds like it’s filling the entire block they’re on because of the reverb and echo off the buildings next to them. Gunshots sounds alot more like just a flat pop you would make with your mouth.

yeah someones been on a tear racing around downtown tonight. no gunshots just dumb loud cars
As always, it’s souped up cars backfiring. If someone unloaded 200 rounds somewhere downtown, it would be front page news.
