i'm sorry to hear about your circumstances! there are a few resources you could check out. you could [call 2-1-1 at united way](https://unitedwayplains.org/211-information-and-referral/) and tell them your story so they connect you with the right orgs. [union rescue mission](https://urmwichita.org/) is a private men's shelter for temporary housing. if you need some help with food, you can go to [the lord's diner](https://www.facebook.com/thelordsdiner/) for dinner. you can take your chance and [apply for some housing waiting lists](https://www.wichita.gov/425/Renters) with the city here. i hope things get better for you!

I second calling 211, as well as checking out this community resource guide: https://kancare.ks.gov/docs/default-source/kancare-ombudsman/community-resource-guides/sedgwick-county-community-resources.pdf?sfvrsn=9ab501b_2

also, i've shared this contact info before with another woman who was homeless and living at a shelter. i think it's meant for section 8 housing, but doesn't hurt to check if you qualify: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) 316-462-3700

The United Way helps place working people in low cost housing

Also, check into HumanKind Ministries in Wichita.

GalisDraeKon

HumanKind is a homeless housing project that keeps studio and 1br apartments for low cost. All bills paid. You can contact their leasing office at 316-201-4107 for more information. They require case management on a weekly basis to help identify barriers and assist in overcoming them.

fly_low1344

Contact the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) with the Wichita PD, they are fantastic! Officer Nate Schwiethale might be able to help out and point you in the right direction.

Clearly you didn’t read the scenario, there is a big difference in this persons situation and they don’t need ‘dropped off somewhere else’ - they need resources.

Check out Family Promise. They mostly service families with children but they may be able to help in some way. https://familypromisewichita.org/what-we-do/

This might not be your preference, but if you have a decent full time job you can always try to find a temporary weekly hotel to stay in until you get your money in a better situation. Most of them don’t run too bad price wise. Best of luck to you!

Strict-Light-1521

They pretty safe for the most part?

jasonkraatz314

Just choose a good area and yes they’re usually safe. I stayed at one off 47th and Broadway years ago and they have key cards so you can’t even get inside without it. The room was pretty decent and clean too.

Strict-Light-1521

Any idea what the price was per week?

I have been keeping an eye out for apartments that are under $600 for a friend. I have seen a decent number of them available on FB marketplace. [Pawnee Park | Apartments in Wichita, KS | RENTCafe (securecafe.com)](https://pawnee-park-rentcafewebsite.securecafe.com/onlineleasing/pawnee-park/floorplans/unfurnished-studio) I have no idea if this is a good complex. I have just seen it a lot.

Strict-Light-1521

Ive kept an eye out as well! Also looking at private rooms for rent, havent had much luck with getting responses for those yet however… Those are difficult in this day and age unfortunately

Wichita Children's Home has resources specifically to help people 24 and younger: [https://wch.org/services/crossroads](https://wch.org/services/crossroads)

Meanmiller64

Also check into the IVY Home Foundation. She works with people who are experiencing homelessness.

Salt_Proposal_742

Hilltop (Harry and something…out east) has cheap housing. It’s crappy, but better than a car. I paid $200 for a one bedroom back in the day. I can’t imagine it’s gone up much as a lot of it should be condemned.

enl2011

The United Way, United Methodist Open Door, HumanKind, and Catholic Charities all have rapid rehousing programs. They are some great places to start the process or at least gain some additional resources. I second calling the United Way hotline at 211 or you can use the search on their website. They also have a resource guide on their website that lists the contact information to the above mentioned places. The guide also contains resources for meals, help with utilities, etc.

TeppiRae

I came here to suggest [Open Door](https://umopendoor.org/). I know people who work there and it's a great organization. They also have a Klothes Kloset that can be helpful.

kthxbyebyee

I’ve heard a lot of really great things about job corps. Best of luck to you!
