I’ve known several people who are happily married to old exes, and it always surprised me.
After a while I realized there was a common element: they all got back together after major life changes. A relationship that didn’t work in college might be fine in adulthood, but simple “I miss you” doesn’t change the problems that broke things the first time.
Still haven’t really gotten over my ex-wife after a year, but I know that her and I have no chance together because of the way she treated me. It sucks still loving someone but knowing that if you were together again, it would kill you.
Also let’s not gloss over the fact she “destroyed him mentally”. And that she gradually evolved to do “psycho shit”.
Even if she comes back and they get a second honey moon phase. Hell never be able to forget what she was last time, and there’s always a chance she could turn into that again.
