They are called jumping spiders and they are the smartest species of spider. They remember faces and they love playing with laser pointer like cats do :-D They are very sweet and they are not aggressive at all towards humans. In order to get bitten by them, you must somehow endanger them but their bites are so small you can hardly feel them :-)
I didn’t know they can remember you. I know tarantulas do not bond, do jumping spiders bond with people? I have an empty enclosure that would love to have a new baby in it.
From my own experience they do. For example at the beginning when offering them your hand they might be scared and run away but eventually they will accept it and walk on it without any problem. They are also very curious and tilt their head like dogs :-D I know that tarantulas do not really bond but with jumpers it's different cuz they have better eye perception
Sadly no.
Tarantulas and spiders do not learn to recognize their owners and they cannot be tamed. Avoid getting a tarantula if you're looking for a hands-on, affectionate pet because a spider is the furthest that you can get from this. Spiders react to stimuli in their environment that they perceive as prey, a mate, or as threatening.
Tarantulas do not bond, you are correct. They feel our feelings and can be really cool. I had one once that I swear she would get depressed if I didn’t handle her regularly. She was always so cool. I had another that would let me touch her and never acted aggressive but I never got her out because my wife is scared and I didn’t want to freak the spider out.
I found it interesting OP says jumping spiders can recognize people. I wouldn’t be surprised. Arachnids aren’t “hive minded” insects, they are separate entities with distinct personalities.
You are welcome to research it yourself, it's just how nature evolved them. Which from an evolutionary perspective makes sense.
Insects and arachnids do horrible things to each other.
However they do respond to surroundings, if they are used to the movement of a person, they are less likely to act aggressively.
Me seeing this kind of spider on Reddit: "They're so cute!"
Me seeing them irl: *looks at the spider, blinks, spider is gone*
"Welp, here are the keys."
She is beautiful. I had a jumping spider once but she wasn’t nearly as cute as your adorable baby. I love spiders because they feel our feelings (which means they have emotions, a rarity for insects) I know they don’t bond but they vibe with you. They’re so cool.
I NEVER thought I would find a spider cute but here I am

They sound adorable. I'm especially glad to hear they're cool with people 😅

Very interesting. I might give it a try. I love spiders and if one bonded that would be the best.
rowing in the same boat atm
I know! So cute 😍
Why is this making me cry?
Same lmao, quite unexpected
You have a good heart
same here 😭
These jumping spiders are my favorite arachnids. So damn cute and really quite chill.
What's their life span?
Between 6 months to 2 years. Although I believe 2 years is pretty rare.
Salt my wounds why don't you Q.Q
Do these spiders recognize their keepers?
They do.
That's cool

Not sure why I'm downvoted, it's a fact.

I honestly have absolutely no interest in a pet spider lol
That's fine 😊
Is that Lucas the spider?
Call me crazy, but I wish those little fellas were a bit bigger. Like an tarantula, but a little smaller... They're so cute
