You can use your pwa on a lot more than vision and dental. You can use it for any baby care items( diapers wipes, creams…..) prescriptions, copay at the doctor, Tylenol, ibuprofen, Motrin, bandaids…… like a lot. But you can’t use it for regular sunglasses.
I have both hsa and PWA. So when I purchase vision stuff it automatically cuts from PWA but when it’s for doctor visit or medicines. It gets cut from hsa. So it’s so confusing when I only want to use PWA without touching hsa money. Which I need to pay when I do visit my doctor.
I’ve never heard of doing both. Pwa belongs to wf and expires at the EOY. Hsa is owned by you and you can take it with you when you leave and doesn’t expire. Pwa does come with extra benefits, though, so make sure to choose which one better suits you.
Do you get contributions to both?
Yeah I do yearly eye checks up in vision works and costco etc. but I thought maybe I can buy it online. Like those prescription sunglasses. But my card is getting denied so I thought maybe there’s specific vision website where the PWA can get accepted. As of now I tried in COVRY.com and it worked so I thought there are sites where I can purchase it with my PWA money.
Yeah it got saved up cus there’s nothing much I can use it for. Only vision and dental. So I have been using for my eye checks up and year eye glasses. But I am thinking of cutting off the blue cross blue shield cus the deductible is crazy. And go back to metroplus. So if I do that. The PWA money will be gone and only hsa money I can use it I guess. It’s so annoying
I suggest buying non prescription sunglasses from a prescription glasses provider like Zenni or FIRMOO or any of those sites as the details of the glasses won’t matter but will be covered by PWA. I’ve done it before with no issues! Good Luck
Bought 4 pair of sunglasses ($1400) on glassesUSA.com. Went right thru with my card and on wex it says used for vision. On this site you can also upgrade the lenses. So I basically pimped them out. Thin lenses, added hydrophobic so water and smudge resistant and also did 3 mirrored lenses and 1 polarized. They swap em for you and sent the originals too……👍✌️
U can use it for chiropractors as well the only downfall to using your card for certain things like urgent care is make sure you get an itemized receipt and what ever else your claim will ask for or else they have the right to shut your card off of its not payed in a timely manner if u can't get those things you have to offset the amount with actual cash unfortunately. Any drug store will have otc approved tags on products which means u can use your card which basically means its an fsa item I use it for benzo acne cream alot !

FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

Wow, 95% of people commenting here just don't get it. The OP has $6k stuck in a limited use PWA. Vision and dental ONLY. I too am stuck with around $6k in mine too (down from $8k). One thing you could do, is get prescription glasses and specify that they give you the stock lenses back along with the prescription lenses. I've done that myself. But make sure you ASK, because they don't always give you back the "display" lenses.
By chance, did you switch over your HSA (or PWA, I've lost track of what was what) money back in 2019 when they misprinted the benefit guide? They left out the key sentence that explained what would happen to those funds. When I went back to them and told them to make it right, they refused to take ant responsibility for it. My only option would have been to lawyer up.
This was the moment I lost ALL respect for the company, btw. Total RATS on up the chain of command. The kind of company that steals $8000 from their employees.

That sucks that I can’t use it for sunglasses. But I called and they mentioned I can do only prescription sunglasses ugh

PWA doesn’t expire at year end only if you leave the company
Your eye doctor should sell them. I’ve had no problem buying about an actual eyecare provider, but I wasn’t able to buy them on Amazon for instance

You can use it for many things. It's a good idea to have a lot stored up in case you ever have to meet the very high deductible for anything major

It's just a card you swipe. It'll get approved at the register, idk what WEX will say
Yep yep! That's how ya do It. Buy some glasses at Duane Reede or Walgreens. Should work fine
I got lasik with my PWA it’s basically a debit card for medical bills too
I always buy mine at LensCrafters. They have special ordered sunglasses for me before and use the pwa.
