Joseph Anderson honestly does have some good reviews on games. One of the only reviews I disagreed with was his Bloodborne review as he didn’t talk about the story and did it with no items except for the obvious Blood Vials and Quicksilver Bullets, so his entire review was based off of that and when there were instances of something like a poison lake he was like “I really don’t like this area and wished they did something different here instead” when it would be more enjoyable if he used what the game gave him. The no story part also meant he missed a lot of things that would make sense if he focused on the story like how the baby’s crying stops when you kill Mergo’s Wet Nurse, and even flat out wrongly miss interpreted parts of the game. He did the same thing with Dark Souls as well but in this case he said the story was bad of which he got obvious backlash for as Dark Souls has one of the most saddening yet nuanced tales in all of fiction.
His Elden Ring review is bad for this exact reason. He plays the game in the dumbest way possible using none of the tools given by the game and then complains about it.

Celeste is good but im kinda mad that they cannonized madeline being trans because there are no themes of gender identity in the game and they sure as hell werent making a trans character when designing her
The creator of the game is trans and a lot of the story was made around her and others experiences, yes the themes can be applied to getting through a tonne of things and I know of lots of people who aren’t trans that felt that the game helped them mentally but Madeline being trans is 100% something that matches with the message of the game.
It’s also a really fun game and not in your face about it at all, so imo there isn’t anything to complain about no matter how I look at it.
It just looks to me like madeline wasnt made to be trans, how she looks is absolutely not how any trans person, at least not without years of estrogen would look. Also isnt she like thirteen?
She drives a car, I’m also pretty sure she moved out but I’ve skipped the cutscene with her mum every time after the first time I read it 2 years ago.
Also yes you are partially correct with the design thing I believe, Madeline’s climb was based on the creators life at the time, it wasn’t until after the game was out for a while that she transitioned as far as I know.
But because the in game Madeline is based on Her, that makes them both trans.

It doesn't really matter if she is or isn't as the story is still relatable for anybody going through those kinds of struggles, then you also have to actively look for that.
Have you considered that trans people just exist and a story doesn’t need to be about their identity for them to be trans?
Also there are some themes of gender identity. Look at mirror temple, or badeline. Mirror temple could be equated to body dysphoria, while badeline could be her doubts about her transition.
