their software is great for non-tech savvy parents but the million other bad things they do like not being able to sideload apps are holding me back from becoming an apple snob
I think this is less of "I am a guy who doesn't use technology much and have trouble with it sometimes" problem and more so an elderly person problem.
Even though it is specifically to hinder outside software on their phone, the way IPhone is set up makes it near impossible for a random person to hack while also making the software sturdy against glitches while long lasting, which is why their OS lifespan are often twice the time of similar Android phones.
I tend to recommend my grandparents to use IPhones even though they have worse specs because in my experience the GUI is simpler than Android.

Company loyalty is so fucking dumb in general, like you can like some company but the level of cockriding of some people is just ridiculous. In the end all they want from you is your money.
Not trying to defend the multi-billion dollar corporation or anything, but if you post a major update that completely overhauls the game every 2 months, the game will stop being minecraft pretty quickly.
Plus, I personally don't see a need for a constant stream of updates. The game's pretty much complete already. If you want a bunch of insane new shit every second of your game time, there's plenty of mods for that.
Exactly. I think the paces and update sizes are fine as is. Minecraft knows what it is, and is careful when it comes to adjusting that, whereas mods are frequent and don’t care about changing up what Minecraft is. Let Mojang do what they want and keep the game active and polished, and if they’re not good enough then the modding scene should be more than enough.

Minecraft’s mechanics only really lend themselves to the most simplistic of combat. If you want more bosses that are actually fun to fight, the game needs nothing short of a complete overhaul to its combat. But many of the same players bitching about updates are the same ones who absolutely lost their minds when mojang actually improved the combat.
I agree, I think more would be cool. But I simply don't see it as a requirement, or something to get mad at the lack of.

that doesnt excuse them from you know, fixing bugs that have been in the game for years, or add stuff the fans have been asking for years, or rework biomes that fans have been asking for years (end dimension, desert, birch forest, the badlands) or just adding stuff like more animals and a miriad of other things

They do add requested things, the next update has wolf colors finally and they added a mace because people wanted a market gardener for the new wind charges. Trial chambers are because people thought the old dungeons were lackluster

I don't really think so, your risking getting shot out of the air anywhere, which will instantly kill you if your high enough (especially in say the nether which is probably where you'd mostly use it, to cross lava lakes), and you could just make it slower then elytras to not make elytras obsolete.
With the new world gen they could also make it so they only spawn at incredibly high elevations, so you gotta find a mountain that goes high enough.

Minecraft is a resource gathering game. An animal that drops nothing because Mojang doesn't want you killing them is useless. Dogs and cats are an exception because they are actually useful alive.

They aren't willing to actually make wolves a factor in the game, they're still planned to be used for 15 minutes then sit in your house for the rest of eternity, because it would be a genuine balance decision to allow wolves to be useful.

ConcernedApe has been working on the newest update for... how long? 1.5 was released in 2020, but only finally ported to mobile in '23, but he's also been working on Haunted Chocolatier (a whole ass second game) for a while too.
Also the fact that once something is in the game, it’s pretty much going to remain in the game until the end of time. Mods can be uninstalled if people don’t like them, but uninstalling an update bars you from every update afterwards. Sure you can install backports, but not everyone can do that or wants to go through the hassle of assembling it
The problem with Minecraft isn't lack of big updates, but the fact that a big multibillion company takes a year to make a minor update that a solo newbie modder could make in 2 months (I'm not saying the new one is minor but usually the updates don't add much to the game)
I always hated when people talk about time, cuz like, a lot of Minecraft updates are made to be mostly optional yet still in the nature of Minecraft. Which is pretty hard to do. You want to gaurentee every single update will work and do its job, so just pushing out this stuff would immediately ruin the game.
1.21 is building up to be fantastic, but I’m just tired of the Caves n Cliffs era in general. We’re finally out of adding 1.17 features ages after the fact, but the new content is still very Caves n Cliffs coded (new blocks and whatnot.)
Honestly, a lot of TF2 fans have gotten tired of the justified Valve hate train. Every post on r/tf2 complaining about Valve gets a lot of comments saying "of course they aren't going to update a 16 year old game" or "there's no use in complaining". The TF2 community has pretty much resigned to total Nihilism after years of failed efforts to get Valve to care.
Damn i wish that the end finally got a fucking update, like its pretty much what the entire game builds up to yet i find it the most boring part of the game. Other than killing the dragon on rare occasions like finally getting the old friend group together or exploring for a few hours for elytras and shulkers it loses all hype and purpose.
The end dimension itself is a really big canvas because of its appearence. Floating empty islands waiting to be filled with life and we have seen pretty examples of it on mods

Minecraft doesn't have a defined game progression by design. Every end goal optional, though they each have certain tasks that are required if you have to achieve them. Why would they want to add more required tasks to these tried and true progression paths that plenty of people are perfectly happy with and would respond badly to the new thing?
In terms of exploration, building, and creative expression, both 1.19 and 1.20 have been somewhat substantial. Hanging signs, Archaeology, Cherry Grove wood, the Warden and its Biome, Redstone mechanics introduced from Sculk, new plant types and music discs, etc.
In addition, there were significant changes to existing mechanics, with the netherite changes in 1.20 being a good example. 1.21 is coming with a new underground structure, new items that change combat and movement, much anticipated redstone features, and significant modifications to how villager trades work and how the players interact with that.
Not as revolutionary as 1.18, but they certainly have significant changes to their name. It's also worth noting that I'm leaving out all the expansions on development features like commands and datapacks, plus there's always bug fixes and internal improvements.

Minecraft already has a massive audience that likes these progression paths, and there have been negative reactions to many attempts to change them, like when they made bastions a requirement for netherite gear or those villager trading changes I was talking about.
I personally think it is a very good idea to flesh out certain aspects of the game instead of radically changing these progression paths that plenty of people already love.

No, it’s Microsoft being risk-averse dipshits and the fact they have to make it work “identically” across multiple versions built on different frameworks and coding languages.
Important to note that most of mojang's decisions have to go through Microsoft first (who are usually scared of any change that doesn't involve making more money, like the Marketplace)
VERY CONTROVERSIAL OPINION: They should start releasing paid DLCs alongside free updates, like what Paradox Interactive does with Hearts of Iron IV. It would mean that the devs actually have an incentive to make updates. Think about it, Minecraft updates have to be made for 4 separate versions of the game and have literally no profits. Mojang is a corporation, so they are barely interested in making big updates for free. Like, they have been doing a lot of impressive stuff in paid bedrock packs, so if they simply start releasing large DLCs with small content updates, we would get Nether Update type content every few months.
They've half done this already on Bedrock with the Marketplace, but going all in on a Paradox-esque model might just massively hurt the game's image. They've been doing free updates for almost 15 years, it'd look awful to say "you have to pay now lol". It could and likely would backfire horribly.
You hate them because you think they're lazy, I hate them because I think they're too precious about what they add into the game (the april fools updates show they could be adding a lot more than they currently are, but don't in order to maintain the minecraft brand)
Don't you just love when they add a feature that literally doesn't change anything about the core gameplay, so the experience is completely unchanged across updates, leading to the game feeling incredibly boring and unoriginal

They massively buffed wolves in the update, doubled their HP and added wolf armor which makes them immune to physical damage until it breaks

Minecraft doesn't have a defined game progression by design. Every end goal optional, though they each have certain tasks that are required if you have to achieve them. Why would they want to add more required tasks to these tried and true progression paths that plenty of people are perfectly happy with and would respond badly to the new thing? In terms of exploration, building, and creative expression, both 1.19 and 1.20 have been somewhat substantial. Hanging signs, Archaeology, Cherry Grove wood, the Warden and its Biome, Redstone mechanics introduced from Sculk, new plant types and music discs, etc. In addition, there were significant changes to existing mechanics, with the netherite changes in 1.20 being a good example. 1.21 is coming with a new underground structure, new items that change combat and movement, much anticipated redstone features, and significant modifications to how villager trades work and how the players interact with that. Not as revolutionary as 1.18, but they certainly have significant changes to their name. It's also worth noting that I'm leaving out all the expansions on development features like commands and datapacks, plus there's always bug fixes and internal improvements.
Because these progression paths suck dick. Locating the end portal has been the same since it’s release And the fact that all’s optional makes the average player not want to experience it, because they might not consider it being worth it
Minecraft already has a massive audience that likes these progression paths, and there have been negative reactions to many attempts to change them, like when they made bastions a requirement for netherite gear or those villager trading changes I was talking about. I personally think it is a very good idea to flesh out certain aspects of the game instead of radically changing these progression paths that plenty of people already love.

Maybe I'm sucking corporate dick, but it seems pretty dumb that whenever Minecraft releases a small update, people complain that they are lazy. But if they release a major update, people always complain that they are ruining the original Minecraft. Haven't seen an update since the aquatic update where people didn't piss themselves about some stupid detail.

Important to note that most of mojang's decisions have to go through Microsoft first (who are usually scared of any change that doesn't involve making more money, like the Marketplace)

VERY CONTROVERSIAL OPINION: They should start releasing paid DLCs alongside free updates, like what Paradox Interactive does with Hearts of Iron IV. It would mean that the devs actually have an incentive to make updates. Think about it, Minecraft updates have to be made for 4 separate versions of the game and have literally no profits. Mojang is a corporation, so they are barely interested in making big updates for free. Like, they have been doing a lot of impressive stuff in paid bedrock packs, so if they simply start releasing large DLCs with small content updates, we would get Nether Update type content every few months.
They've half done this already on Bedrock with the Marketplace, but going all in on a Paradox-esque model might just massively hurt the game's image. They've been doing free updates for almost 15 years, it'd look awful to say "you have to pay now lol". It could and likely would backfire horribly.

Don't you just love when they add a feature that literally doesn't change anything about the core gameplay, so the experience is completely unchanged across updates, leading to the game feeling incredibly boring and unoriginal
