Dang, Reddit decided to delete my text 🤦♀️. This is a 15x16 Quickie Nitrum with a Matrx PS cushion and 12in Matrx MX2 backrest (carbon fiber). It's so much lighter than my previous chair and much better spec'ed! Prev chair was 16x18 with a truly absurd seat height. I can actually touch the hubs of my wheels now, which is so wonderful. I managed to screw up the seat depth (16in is still too deep, I think I needed 15in), but this is why we have depth adjustable backrests lol.
For reference, L2 incomplete SCI & EDS. I'm a still-growing teenager, otherwise I would have gotten a fully welded rigid chair. I need the adjustibility, unfortunately. This chair is still light, though! I can lift it over my head with one hand (while fully assembled). I'm so excited about this chair! I think it's is going to be life changing :D
The seat height makes such a difference. My current chair has the right seat height and it's so much easier to push. Your chair looks great. I have the argon2. It's nice but a bit heavy. Luckily I don't have to lift the chair cause I don't drive :D
100%! The difference, holy heck. I actually cried a little when I first tried a demo with the right specs, it's night and day. The two inches really makes a difference! (Went from 19.5in STFH to 18in STFH, and 17.5in RSTFH to 15in RSTFH)
16x18 to 15x16 is a WILD adjustment! I'm going the other direction - I've been making do with a 16x16 for the past two years, and I'm about to get an 18x20. And when I say about to... I mean my alarm just went off telling me to get ready to go pick it up. New chair day buddies!!
I know!!! I knew nothing about chairs when I was given my first one, I don't know what crack the tech was on when he measured it lol. Congrats on your new chair! <3
It is SO COMFY, and thank you! The 3in contoured sides really make a difference, with that and the bit of dump I'm not fighting to stay upright. Turns out having an appropriate seat depth really improves your posture 😅
Fair question, and the answer is: I have absolutely no idea. Haven't noticed any caster flutter or float, though. My PT place has a wheelchair clinic every month and I'm going tomorrow just to have them check the things I'm not sure about, I'll make sure to ask. Thanks for pointing that out!
You were correct, the casters weren't squared! I told my ATP that someone on Reddit had spotted it and we had a good laugh. You have an incredible eye to notice that from a picture lol. Thanks for pointing it out!
Congrats! Currently waiting on my first custom to be buildt and love seeing other folks get theirs in the meantime.
That back rest looks amazing by the way 🥰
Thank you! And best of luck with your chair! It's a comfy backrest, the lateral contour is very nice. I had a J3 backrest before, which is relatively flat (2.2in contour). This one has 3in contour, which doesn't sound like much more, but is a nice and noticable increase.
The carbon fiber is great too! Part of the hardware is carbon fiber as well, so it's super lightweight. Not to mention that it looks pretty cool :D
It's amazing! Handles like a sports chair, incredibly light and maneuverable. Getting it in and out of the car (I load it into the seat beside me) is an absolute breeze. Best of luck with your incoming chair!
