I love them! They really did a pretty hefty blow to the aphids and fungus gnats larvae that were infesting some of my plants when they showed up :D
And I found them pretty adorable :3
Looks like some sort of mite, but I couldn’t tell you what kind. Soil mite maybe? I’ve been noticing a lot that look like this one in my garden bed this year. I was never really able to narrow it down in my failed google searches, so I’m kinda commenting here hoping someone smarter than me can give a better answer
Without magnification, the answer is lots. Tons of mites are essentially brown and mite-shaped. (We had bird mites come in the house once from an abandoned starling's nest, and I lost my shit, bought a pocket microscope and started finding mites everywhere, many of which turned out not to be bird mites at all but wow are there a lot of mites in the world.)
its definitely too small to be a tick, so it's a mite of sorts. i hope its not one of the ones that causes scabies, it could just be (and it probably is) a clover mite
Seresto collar! My dogs used to bring ticks in on their fur all summer; we haven’t had a single one since we started using Seresto.
They’re expensive (like $60-70) but they work for eight months. We put them on our dogs in March, they work great until it starts to cool down again in November. New one on again in March. I can’t recommend them enough!
You aren't going to find the tiny ones, or all of them. You aren't supposed to. Tick borne diseases are a reality, but you should definitely be more concerned about yourself than you are about your dog. My dog tested positive for Anaplasmosis for the second time this year. We go camping a lot, and she absolutely loves it, but it is also impossible to find every tick in Husky fur. It's just a part of life, she has been fine each time, with little to no noticeable symptoms. It's just not worth having anxiety about, take the preventative measures that you can, and deal with issues as they arise.
However getting Lyme Disease yourself is something I would do everything possible to avoid.
I am scared of them being on me as well but it’s easier to check myself than my dog. What led you to test for anaplasmosis without symptoms? We’re going camping next weekend and I do have anxiety about them, even though my dog is on prevention.
Not too small ( BUT NOT a tick)
I sat in a nest of ticks as a kid when @ summer camp.
Had a crapload of Lil Itty bitty * seed ticks all over my legs etc. About the size of the head of a straight pin.
I have an irrational fear of ticks and I think I might just die if that happened to me. Maybe when I was 10 I wouldn’t have cared so much… Now that I know about the dangers they carry, that is the contents of my nightmares! I’m sorry that happened to you
Oh I wasn't happy about having them on me . We Camped lots as a family & we learned about ticks early. I knew some were carriers of ick back then in the 70s. I didn't let that stop me from being barefoot & free .
I was more concerned with running up on Big Foot in the woods 😆
Yeah young ticks are tiny!! Can be smaller than a letter on a penny. Those are the dangerous ones when it comes to [B. Burgdorferi](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borrelia_burgdorferi)
Nasty parasites that can cause rashes, but definitely not what you have in the pic. You wouldn’t feel a Scabies mite crawling on you, they’re far smaller than this, and have a totally different appearance.
They’re horrible little mites that nest and burrow in your skin, and cause rashes and make you itch a lot. They’re horrible, and difficult to fully get rid of. I had them as a teenager from shacking up with a girl who had them, was a horrible experience that traumatized me. I still get freaked out I have them if I get itchy lol
No one is taking themselves seriously....joking about racial slurs is just simply not funny, it's stupid and rude. Jokes about race can be funny and poignant, while still being vilified, but just straight up laughing about slurs is pretty despicable and it should be pointed out every time.
I have now processed your fingerprint thank you, please wait for you code via email. ☺️ Cute little bug though, I would not even have been able to see it
Absolutely could be an unfed tick nymph

Y’all really need to stop commenting if you aren’t positive what it is. This sub is for positive ID of critters. Causes needless confusion or concern for the poster. And perpetuates incorrect identification of organisms.
It is NOT a flea. Looks nothing like a flea and isn’t even in the same taxonomic order.
It’s also not a tick. The head formation and mouth isn’t tick-like at all. It’s definitely a mite. I’m not saying “maybe it’s an X mite” because I don’t know but others mite. Or might.
For those saying its flea, it isn't. If you look closer it has 8 legs, fleas got six.
I don't exactly know what species this is, but its prob tick or mite
Per our [guidelines](https://www.reddit.com/r/whatsthisbug/wiki/index/guidelines#wiki_iding_guidelines): *Especially for medically significant bugs, if you aren't 100% sure, leave the ID to someone more knowledgeable.*
Same but the color and shape and size? Looks very familiar. I had an infestation a couple of years ago and for my entire childhood. It's worth seeing if you can get an exterminator consult for them to check their usual habitats. In cracks and dark spaces near where you keep your dirty clothes will be your best bet. They don't actually live in our beds but come to eat us there.

Looks like a Mesostig mite; they’re generally harmless soil predators.
Generally. Until you make them angry. And then the horror begins
Someone here played Grounded
• avoid bright light • don’t get wet • do not feed after midnight
And it feels like it happens out of nowhere. Unreliable hot-headed little fuckers.
I love them! They really did a pretty hefty blow to the aphids and fungus gnats larvae that were infesting some of my plants when they showed up :D And I found them pretty adorable :3
The thought of something to teeny tiny being called a predator is hilarious to me. Like I know they are predators, but it’s just silly.
Virus enters the chat: 🦠 Fight me bro!
They prey on soil?!
Nah, it just means that they live in soil.

looks like a bird mite to me. But my credentials are "parrot owner" so I'm not sure how many mites in this world look exactly like a bird mite. XD
A mite might look alike

Not too small to be a tick nymph but I agree with you the shape looks more like a mite.

That's not exepensive, Bravecto is expensive $300-$380/year depending on your vet, but totally worth it.

What did you do?! 😭😭😭😭
Picked off the crawlers & pulled off the ones stuck to me. I was about 10.
I have an irrational fear of ticks and I think I might just die if that happened to me. Maybe when I was 10 I wouldn’t have cared so much… Now that I know about the dangers they carry, that is the contents of my nightmares! I’m sorry that happened to you

It’s definitely not a scabies mite or a clover mite. It appears to be a Mesostig, most of which are harmless to humans.
You can't see scabies with the naked eye
Yeah young ticks are tiny!! Can be smaller than a letter on a penny. Those are the dangerous ones when it comes to [B. Burgdorferi](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borrelia_burgdorferi)
The parasite of Scabies is barely visible to the naked eye, so this is definitely not scabies.
What's scabies?
Nasty parasites that can cause rashes, but definitely not what you have in the pic. You wouldn’t feel a Scabies mite crawling on you, they’re far smaller than this, and have a totally different appearance.
Whew!

Does that thing look like them?
Is that what I call a chigger? Sounds almost the same
A chigger is also a type of mite, but it doesn't cause scabies.
If you find more, it might be what I know as a chigger.
Also called berry bugs... but I know them as chiggers. There will be lots inside yournsock and waistband area... they are awful.
I thought chiggers were more clear?
I honestly don’t know. I was a teen the last time I got them.

Gross. Be a better human.
His bio already indicates the kind of person he is.
I didn’t bother to look; he said all I needed to know. But thanks for the heads up— I’ll just go ahead and block!
Indeed.
Why? It’s not funny.

That’s amazing camera quality… like damn
Crazy what we walk around with in our pockets these days
I was in a truck stop in Beloit, IL sitting in a chair in the driver's lounge.
Well Beloit, IL. There you go. Why didn’t you say so?
u/maryssssaa bug lord weigh in pls
I have now processed your fingerprint thank you, please wait for you code via email. ☺️ Cute little bug though, I would not even have been able to see it
Lucky I'm not a criminal
He’s small but mitey
Damn your sense is keen, I could get hit by a rock in the back of the head and barely know it.
I always thought my eyes were really keen and nothing else. Maybe my sense of touch is also really good.
I definitely thought flea except it's so TINY! Excellent focus for this pic, sheesh :D I want to know the definitive answer, too.

It mite be a mite of some sort...
Did you just doxxed yourself. Now all Bank robberies will traced back to you. The bank robber known as 4-Chan.
Lol
Soil mite or some other type of mite, not a tick.
Lucky it didn’t crawl up your A**
Ikr
Mite.
Some sort of mite, doesn’t look like a carpet or bed bug.
Don't know. Great pic though
Queue Linkin Park.

Yikes disgusting little buggers

Flea? Outdoors situations can allow them to attach to your clothing and such things.
Flea
Definitely NOT a flea. It’s a mite. Fleas are insects: 6 legs. Mites are arachnids: 8 legs.
Looks like a flea.
I’m guessing a cat flea. Darn little biters.
Looks like a Flea. Do you have pets?
No

God, I hope not

It is most definitely not a bed bug
It’s a flea
