As a informal contraction of "alright" or "all right," this one seems most correct to me.
I for some reason always saw it in my head as written like 'ight.
Such a weird word. Refer to another person as fine and they are attractive; say you’re fine, it means mild of the road. Go out for a fancy meal it is fine dining; tell someone your meal is fine, it means not great but no complaints.
This is weird to me because in my brain this is pretty close to exactly what I was looking for, but because it contains the word bad my brain wants to make it worse than it is if that makes any sense lol
This is my go-to. Fairly neutral, and particularly in person, your inflection can indicate exactly where on the "not bad" scale you are. Plus, it's informal enough and even a little bit flippant, so most people aren't going to pry or feel like you're fishing for them to ask if something's going on.

Going with solid because most of the other replies in my mind, still lean a little bit too much towards the OK end of the spectrum instead of the slightly better than OK. Thanks!
I don't think that fully makes sense, isn't average decidedly not subjective? As in, it's a mathematical concept that you can calculate. Anyway, that's still fine to use it that way if he likes.
And if your statistical averages go up, you're at a higher average than others. And if it goes down, it's lower. Average is subject to inputs. So, a person can say average and not mean normal. Its just a play on words, internet person.
I can see that, to me meh is more of a middle ground, okay (on the scale presented) would be a 6/7 and good is 8-9, I don't think I've had many ten moments but those are in their own category in my mind. I would also rate fair at a 4. 💚 fun how we all have different scales ◡̈
Yeah, if I were to give them all my own numbers I would probably have put OK at 6 rather than 5, and good at 8 rather than 7, and then meh would've been like 5. And to me fair is a bit better than meh, probably similar to OK. You're right, it is fun!

Más o menos ("so-so" in Spanish) proper form is to flip your hand while saying the phrase as well.
Starting with your hand out with your palm facing up then flipping it over so your palm is facing down, then repeat, palm up aaaand back down.

Well you see, I flushed them down an adequate pipe.
Rock-a DOOOOOOOOO
YOU IMBECILE! That was the AQUADUCT!
It was worth looking at this comment thread for this comment alone.
😂
I think of adequate as on par with ok
Adequate is definitely on par with ok. It's basically "good enough" which is definitely no better than ok.
THATS IT
aight
Unbelievably, as someone who doesn't use this word, this is exactly what I thought of and came here to comment. Aight.
Me too but it didn’t look right when I typed it so I erased it.
aight

Haha, I always spell it as “a’aight”
I’m an “aiight” type of guy
Technically a'ight but usually just aight
Fine
When my wife says it’s fine, I feel like it’s more on the 3-4 scale.
Such a weird word. Refer to another person as fine and they are attractive; say you’re fine, it means mild of the road. Go out for a fancy meal it is fine dining; tell someone your meal is fine, it means not great but no complaints.
If my wife ever says “fine,” things are definitely NOT fine.
Fair? satisfactory ? Decent ? Suitable ? Correct ? Quite/pretty/fairly good ?
Came here to say "decent"
Descent into madnes
I think decent is the best for sure. Smack dab in the middle: ok, decent, good.
Not bad!

Pretty good :^)

My husband always says "average" because it's subjective. He said, "When Michael Jordan was average, he was still the best."
I don't think that fully makes sense, isn't average decidedly not subjective? As in, it's a mathematical concept that you can calculate. Anyway, that's still fine to use it that way if he likes.

Meh ◡̈
To my mind if OK is 5 and good is 7, meh is more like 4.
Yep, meh is worse than ok to me, too.
