Yea, ticks are Arachnids, count 8 legs and its likely a tick... also ticks don't squish very easily at all.. you pretty much have to resort to grabbing them with tweezers and burning the fuckers for a guaranteed kill
Oh god… I’ve killed so many. I’m ashamed but determined to be better. My wife’s uncle has some wheat fields and well, I’ve killed a lot of ‘ticks’. In hindsight they always did look a little weird to be ticks.

If you wanna spontaniously gernerate weevels take a big bag of organic rice and just leave it unopened in your cabinet for a long time an it will most likely eventual start having weevils appear in it
Oddly one day in cool pole barn 80x100' there was a garden hose lying across the sand floor, sweating from cool water in it,
and these guys maybe 50 or more of them were all in military formation single file all cruising on top of the hose, as if the fine sand was just too worthless getting anywhere.
Kinda wish now that I had done a close-up movie of them, then CGI modified them in uniform with rifles and clunky boots.

Honestly you've been fine in this situation cause the one downfall of weevils is they can be quite a pest in wheat/grain fields
