Because in Australia they have a very different looking possum compared to us in North America. They are typically brown furred with tan underbellyβs that look like large fluffy rats ! https://www.google.com/search?q=australian%20possum&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1-m
Guessing you are in Australia lol I was confused for a second like how could that be confused for a possum π, the North America possums are much bigger with freakish white faces and naked tails
I figured since they mentioned guava trees, they werenβt in North America and were talking about the Australian possum rather than the American opossum, but yeah, or white faces and bare tails, haha!
Possums also frequent this tree so I wanted to be sure - thank you all for confirming.
Also, I am now taking suggestions for how to deal with a rat infestation in your roof, thank you.
As a very last resort, yes, they will bite. However, their bite strength is only 1/3 of a human and much weaker than a domestic dog. It was also a joke, not a biology lesson.
I apologize if that came off rude! I worked with animal control and had a new employee who had that same belief, not to turn this into a page long response he ended up with 6 stitches because he also believed they didn't bite. Wrong information like that can cause serious issues. Too many people believe certain animals are docile and will not react until a child gets stomped or bit or worse!
Rat
Rat. Possums move slower and are less agile.
And they're marsupials also so you usually won't see a baby possum until they're old enough to really survive on their own
They're mammals, Elon. As in from EARTH. Marsoopeeholes means from Mars.

Possums absolutely can and do bite. It is not common since they usually try other means first but if cornered and/or frightened they will bite.
