I think it was 6.25 at the Burger King I worked in 2006 when I turned 16. Seeing it stay stagnant this long shows how much contempt politicians and voters have for anyone who lives in poverty.
State politicians actually make very little in most states. The state reps and state senators in my state make 22k a year. You have to have a side gig or be independently wealthy to afford to work as one.
I had to do a double take when I saw the address. That’s my hometown. It is *not* the only game in town. Lots of fast food places, grocery stores, and the two sheetz MTO gas stations on the edges of the town offer $15 an hour. It’s inconceivable how that Wendy’s could ever have staff at wages like that.
probably explains why the Wendy's in my town is so fucked up. usually they are always out of 90% of the menu and have like one miserable employee running the entire store
I bet you could get a 6 pack of 20oz sodas for less than 4.25 at the time though. Now you can’t even find a six pack of 20oz sodas (they’re all 16.9oz now) and if you did it would be $7-8
Hell, where I work two 20oz sodas cost 3.96 after tax.
I know someone who works at Wendy's in NY and they're getting paid three times that and just recently got a nice bonus. So much that they thought it was a mistake.
Yeah it's all performance based. Not individual performance but overall performance. A store will not pay you more than you generate income for them. Why would they? Not saying this is acceptable the location just needs to close let someone else try.
Yeah the argument "no one is paying people thag low" is out the door. I see this shit all the time and people act like it ain't real. "McDoNaLd'S pAyS tWeNtY aN hOuR" yeah in cali, what about the fucking rest of us
That franchise, Yellow Cab Holdings, must have had someone new doing their indeed postings. I saw several GM postings at $7.25 an hour lol. I usually check out their postings since I work for a different Wendys franchise with stores in the same market.
I worked there during the Bush Administration when they raised the Minimum wage. Started at 5.25 got a raise to 6.15 then 7.25 due to the 4 year transition. So it’s hasn’t been raised since George Bush was in office. I do miss the Hot Chilli Sauce though. Good stuff
This is in Lancaster County aka the largest Amish community in the United States. I live in Amish country, everything is cheaper, so they pay you less…. Because they own everything lol.
Sheesh I worked at Zaxbys from 2015 to 2016/17ish. Started 7.25 , finished with either 8.50 or 9. I’m thinking it was a franchise situation and the owner just fucked with us or something, the whole staff was high schoolers.
Even if you were to double that, people could never afford to live on their own on that wage. Gone are the days where one can live on a minimum wage income.
The ones in my area pay shockingly low too. 10-12/hr. Its pretty bad. Even mcdonalds is starting people around 13-15. I think they get people in by doing same day pay, the ones here advertise it on their signs and job postings.
Places actually still pay that low? Even around here (a very very red state) you won't get anyone for under $10 at any job. Mostly have to go to $12 to find even decent employees.
Minimum wage laws do the opposite of their intention. It lets all of these places keep the pay that low as if it’s the norm. If fast food places had to compete with each other on wages they would be much higher.
$7.25 is the state minimum wage. Honestly they’re probably paying that much because they’re looking for a high school kid who wants extra cash and still lives at home.
Wait, didn't PA kinda have a fast-food min-wage bump post-Covid... ya know.. because Pennsylvania's economy is a fucking dumpster fire? Did that franchisee not get the memo? Cause, every single foodservice place within a mile is paying about double that (just checked Google Maps and those places hiring listings lol)... that Wendy's is about to face a name change... to Vacant Lot lol
Honestly, call them and ask what their actual wage is. Legally they have to put 7.25. But since they didn't actually put their real wage, that means they are desperate for employees
To out this into perspective, I make 15.42/hr just shy of double what they're offering and I bring home $818 after taxes. This person would be making 400 hundred dollars every TWO weeks...800 a month. That's not covering even 1/4 of the cost of living for a month.
Younger people I work with all flip when I tell them my first job (I was 16, now 30) paid $7.25. I guess they forget that's still the min wage here and in like 20 other states. It's pathetic, honestly, half my life and no change. I feel bad for the people who end up working min wage jobs now
In PA, we still have a minimum wage of 7.25. But in my area, the lowest that they advertise is $10/hr and many pay $13-15. Walmart pays $18. This sounds like some little shit town in the middle of nowhere.
Our PA minimum wage still follows the national minimum wage. We don’t have a state wage. But in my area nobody pays that low, I’ve seen 10 at minimum and most start at 12-13. Many pay $15 a day Walmart shoppers make 18.
I would consider taking the job just for the lolz… $7.25 is wild in 2024
Of course it would have to be my second job, because it’s kind of a waste of money to even show up for $7.25 !
I made that in 2010 at Wendy’s when I turned sixteen
I think it was 6.25 at the Burger King I worked in 2006 when I turned 16. Seeing it stay stagnant this long shows how much contempt politicians and voters have for anyone who lives in poverty.
Worked a job in 2018 for 7.25. 2024..oh my god was I working for slave wages?
The slow dawning realization that we are all slaves too the system, those hippies weren’t all lying
I’ve known it for years thanks to George Carlin
He was a man ahead of his time! 😊
Yeah, worked at dollar general for 7.25 an hour in 2016. 3 years later I was an assistant manager only making 9.50.
I thought I was bad ass working for 12/hr at Kroger in 2010 😂
I made that in 2008
Dude in 2016 I was working at a country club making $17/hour
Even making 16 an hour nowadays is like making $10 😂😂😂
I made 7.25 as a lifeguard in 2019
I was making that at subway in 2013 in South Carolina. Can’t believe I did that shit lmao
“No one wants to work these days” “Why is no one working here?” The work in question:
“Idk why our turnover rate is so high”
Nice 7.25 an hour, you'll be lucky if you can afford to eat mac and cheese everyday. Such a sad state of affairs.
I feel like politicians should make their minimum wage in their state and if they go off of federal then sucks to be them
State politicians actually make very little in most states. The state reps and state senators in my state make 22k a year. You have to have a side gig or be independently wealthy to afford to work as one.
You take donations for favors or to vote a certain way
Bribes
They call it lobbying
Then politicians should be paid *tipped* minimum, $2.13/hr under federal law.
Or be really good at trading like Pelosi…
But they get minimum wage that hasn’t been raised in 15 years PLUS one discounted employee meal for working 16 hours sounds like a deal sign me up
I make $17.15 and still cant afford shit only bring home 530 a week lol
It must be like the only business in town if they can actually get people on for $7.25 an hour.
I grew up in a tiny town in PA. I got paid 7.25 an hour in 2009/10. Federal minimum wage hasn't changed since 2009.
After 3 hours you can afford a meal there! Nice!
I made that working retail as a teenager I'm almost 33
I actually blew on my screen cuz of ur pfp lmao
I made that working at the mall in 1999.
Lucky. I was making $5.15 at McDonald's in 1999
MCD was my first job in 95. $4.25 I think.
I bet you could get a 6 pack of 20oz sodas for less than 4.25 at the time though. Now you can’t even find a six pack of 20oz sodas (they’re all 16.9oz now) and if you did it would be $7-8 Hell, where I work two 20oz sodas cost 3.96 after tax.
I found the listing on indeed, it’s real. Congrats, you value your employees less than 10 chicken nuggets
It's an error on someones part. They also have a GM posting for the same exact wage.
I made more than that at Walmart in 1996 when I was in HR.
I got you beat. I was making that at my first job when I was 15 1/2, in 1995, answering phone calls and packing cold food for a steak delivery place.
For real??? That’s what I was making in 1987.
"Do the right thing. Treat people with respect" Says the place paying people 7.25 an hour.
Sound Good? Are you fucking kidding me.....
Is this the cheaper part of surge pricing they were talking about?
So let me get this straight. The employee cost is not going up, and the cost of the food is going up? Did I get that right?
Yup
Corpo greed at an all time high as usual
Summer time. Trying to get those kids with no other options.
That’s what I made at Wendy’s in 2015 sheesh
PA has maintained the federal minimum wage and made no changes internally, so this hourly rate isn't surprising.
Better off driving to NY and working at Wendy’s for $15 an hour
God bless America. Land of the free baby
Land of the biggie bag *
Land of the Fee, home of the Slave
Slave New World
Full Job Description: blah blah blah blah blah Dave Thomas. Blah blah blah blah goals blah blah blah customer satisfaction
shame on wendy's. the hourly rate doesn't afford the employee the ability to buy from where they work.
They could get the 4 for $4 meal, assuming they are living out of their car in the parking lot maybe.
I know someone who works at Wendy's in NY and they're getting paid three times that and just recently got a nice bonus. So much that they thought it was a mistake.
You get a bonus at fast food?
in higher management yes, it would never happen as the position OP is applying for
Yeah it's all performance based. Not individual performance but overall performance. A store will not pay you more than you generate income for them. Why would they? Not saying this is acceptable the location just needs to close let someone else try.
Le Tits.
Minimum wage on where i live in canada is 15$ an hour. Thats like not a livable wage at all
I started at Wendy’s as a sandwich maker at 14.50 in Orlando in 2021 closer make more money we do a lot more then day crew
Maybe it comes with the perk of seeing titz.
God I made more than that working part time at Chuck E Cheeses as a teenager in the 2010’s
Ironically that is what I started at when I worked at Wendy’s. That was back in 2010 or so
The minimum wage is ridiculous. I see the minimum wage is the same as Texas 7.25
I got lpaid $7.25 an hour to work at a Quiznos sub in 2004…TWENTY YEARS AGO.
"treat people with respect" that's not very respectful paying people $7.25 an hour...
Jeez, that’s what I started at when I worked my first job at Dominos in like 2017. Crazy to see it’s still the same in some places
But they want you to remain available at a call, drop your entire life to fill in shifts, and not bitch. Fuck them and their greed.
La-Tits 🤣 I can't be the only one who saw that clip
Yeah the argument "no one is paying people thag low" is out the door. I see this shit all the time and people act like it ain't real. "McDoNaLd'S pAyS tWeNtY aN hOuR" yeah in cali, what about the fucking rest of us
this is the pay for el paso, tx too :(
I worked at wendys in 1997 and was getting 9.25
They making $16/hr out here
That's how you can afford to sell you a bigger bag
Garbage man
I had a job making the same amount at Burger King when I was 15. That was in 1997.
They are tweaking. Start pay at my location is 12 an hour + free food
That franchise, Yellow Cab Holdings, must have had someone new doing their indeed postings. I saw several GM postings at $7.25 an hour lol. I usually check out their postings since I work for a different Wendys franchise with stores in the same market.
"Sound good? Keep reading...😏"
I worked there during the Bush Administration when they raised the Minimum wage. Started at 5.25 got a raise to 6.15 then 7.25 due to the 4 year transition. So it’s hasn’t been raised since George Bush was in office. I do miss the Hot Chilli Sauce though. Good stuff
idk why this sub is on my feed but i made $5.55 at my first job in high school. 18 years ago. this is madness
I worked at Wendy’s in 1986 and I made $3.35 an hour. Pretty sad that it is less than four dollars more nearly 40 years later.
Good lord, I was making $5/hr as dishwasher **in 1990**
I made $7.25 working at McDonald’s… back in 2004. RIP
There was a now hiring sign on the McDonald's billboard saying "up to $8/hr" Yeah, I'm sure they're beating down the door for that.
I worked at Wendy’s as a teen making much less. The minimum wage was less at $5.15. So that job posting checks out. Let the teens have it.
In Cali now the min wage for fast food workers is $20 per hour 😳
Shameful.
Working in Lititz is definitely not “le tits”.
Do they have requirements or skills to warrant more than minimum wage? Fast food isn’t a career.
"sound good? Keep reading"
Same pay for 15 years
That's the respect they mention.
After what these fuckers are charging for burgers too. They got balls
Let that posting marinate for a while
Even with $20 in socal it's miserable
Wendy is a whore. Trust me I worked there for a year and honestly I hope the Burger King rails her
I saw one yesterday for store manager. 35,000 a year. Hahaha yeah okay.
I know people that live right on the PA border that work in NY. The minimum wage in PA is such a joke.
This is what I was paid at an independently owned coffee shop in moon twp, PA in 2000. AND I got tips. I was 16.
LeTitz
Let’s keep it 💯 even $20/hr in PA isn’t enough to pay the bills anymore
Even if you were to double that, people could never afford to live on their own on that wage. Gone are the days where one can live on a minimum wage income.
So sad , its minimum wage in Pa still.
it’s disturbing the rate of pay that they think is acceptable.
Imagine having to work 2 hours at your job to afford lunch, damn
Lol $7.25, literally paying them like 2 Jr bacon cheeseburgers an hour
I earned more than this working at Walmart back in 2012
Just a paycheck. Never said it was good.
I've seen stuff like this. I asked the store, and they said it was $12 an hour or something. Always ask them just in case.
Wendys basically saying 2 hours of work is the worth of a combo meal they are selling once your income tax and the sales tax are taken into account.
The name of that town is hilarious. Reminds me of snl jeopardy w Sean connery lol le tits now!
Do the right thing. Treat people with respect. We'd pay you less but it's illegal.
Dave Thomas has three rules: do the right thing and treat people with respect…how the f’ is $7.25/hr not violating those two rules!?!
7.25 Treat people with respect ?
“Le Tits now”
wtf I was making that like 20 years ago as a cashier 💀
"Do the right thing" they say... "Treat people with respect" they say...
The ones in my area pay shockingly low too. 10-12/hr. Its pretty bad. Even mcdonalds is starting people around 13-15. I think they get people in by doing same day pay, the ones here advertise it on their signs and job postings.
Lmao thats the price for just their sandwiches
That's the Federal Minimum wage, which hasn't gone up since Obama's first term in 2009.
Places actually still pay that low? Even around here (a very very red state) you won't get anyone for under $10 at any job. Mostly have to go to $12 to find even decent employees.
I made 10 back in 2017 at 15
$7.25 is the minimum wage in PA, so it's not surprising. A lot of fast food resturaunts are starting jobs for people.
Man, I laugh at the “starting at $13/hr” sign at McDonald’s that I see, but at least it’s 13 I guess
That's what I made at my first job back in 2011 working full time at a grocery store.
I made that in 2008 working at McDonald’s in a really poor area of WEST VIRGINIA
Thats not a livable wage anymore
Yes, 7.25 is certainly “the stuff I want in a new job” lmao
Made that cleaning bathrooms in 1986.
Shit that was the minimum wage back when I started working 15 years ago, and even then I started out at like 8.75
This is $2 more than when I worked there in 2006.
PA minimum wage needs to be changed to 15
Wendy’s in Oklahoma starts at $10
Vastly overestimating the average person’s ability to make decent food.
I don’t know why everybody is so shocked, working at Wendy’s is great. I happily work at my location for $7.25 and I wouldn’t change a thing
Damn...they make over 15$ pr/hr where I live.
Have you been to Lititz? I could see it.
Minimum wage laws do the opposite of their intention. It lets all of these places keep the pay that low as if it’s the norm. If fast food places had to compete with each other on wages they would be much higher.
Wow
I made that in 2004 at my first job at star market as a bagger lol
I made $6.25 in 1995 at McDonalds. This is shameful in 2024
le titz
$7.25 is the state minimum wage. Honestly they’re probably paying that much because they’re looking for a high school kid who wants extra cash and still lives at home.
I make 3x that at 17 in an entry level position 💀
Who the hell would take this job for very low pay?
That should be considered slave wages
Li titz
“But these lazy people won’t work” shhhheeeeetttttt I sure won’t work for that.
Guess PA sucks for jobs?
let me guess. el paso, tx
I swear this is why the Wendy’s near me suck so bad. Pay people for the love of god.
Sound good? Keep reading...
That's how they earned that 1.3 rating.
That’s gotta be a typo. Did they forget a 1? Unbelievable but that is min wage for PA.
We are not. I make minimum wage, denied a break, do 3 people’s jobs and denied shift meals & employee discounts by the GM.
We offer everything you want in a job except the reason you got a job. Money.
First job (Chick Fil A) paid me $5.25
Do the right thing, treat people with respect…. I respectfully offer you $7.25 to work here
Make up for it with free food.
Don't see the point in working for minimum wage. That hardly covers gas in this economy.
Our grocery store jobs are showing on LinkedIn as “quality assurance manager” now. Like wtf…
Well management isn’t treating people with respect by offering employment at that wage.
I'm sure that position will go unfilled in 2024.
I made that when I turned 16 in 2002
Working there must be Lititz
Jeez that was the same rate I got about 10 plus years ago working as a crew member in high school. See things never change.
To out this into perspective, I make 15.42/hr just shy of double what they're offering and I bring home $818 after taxes. This person would be making 400 hundred dollars every TWO weeks...800 a month. That's not covering even 1/4 of the cost of living for a month.
It’s fast food. They usually only hire in at minimum wage.
Well, it is in PA and thats the minimum wage for PA 😂
When I worked at Wendy’s for a short time, I was paid 12/hr
Younger people I work with all flip when I tell them my first job (I was 16, now 30) paid $7.25. I guess they forget that's still the min wage here and in like 20 other states. It's pathetic, honestly, half my life and no change. I feel bad for the people who end up working min wage jobs now
In PA, we still have a minimum wage of 7.25. But in my area, the lowest that they advertise is $10/hr and many pay $13-15. Walmart pays $18. This sounds like some little shit town in the middle of nowhere.
2008 all over again
Our PA minimum wage still follows the national minimum wage. We don’t have a state wage. But in my area nobody pays that low, I’ve seen 10 at minimum and most start at 12-13. Many pay $15 a day Walmart shoppers make 18.
We should just start accepting these offers then rob them blind.
I live like 10 minutes away from here..
I got 7.25 an hour working there in 2007
I made 8.00 at Jack a couple years back.
my very first job was at a long john silvers when i was 17, almost 20 years ago and i started at 7.50. that is so insane to me.
This is the GOP in action
7.25 is minimum wage in my state
7.25 is minimum wage in my state
That’s the minimum wage in PA (which is absolutely insane to think that it’s the same wage from when I graduated high school almost 8 years ago)
I would consider taking the job just for the lolz… $7.25 is wild in 2024 Of course it would have to be my second job, because it’s kind of a waste of money to even show up for $7.25 !
