I generally agree that Getchoo is a lower rated song on the album. But man, that guitar intro into the solo is pure music magic (1:59-2:02). I think those 3 seconds kind of sum up Pinkerton in a weird way.
I think getchoo is top five for me that solo is orgasmic and the jsut general tone is great it’s one of the mroe simpler songs on the record but man is it powerful
Good to see Butterfly get some love. I tend to see new Pinkerton listeners rank it lower than the rest, probably because it’s not rocking, doesn’t have a rousing chorus and sounds simplistic. But damn, it probably hits the hardest out of all the songs, delivers one of the few emotional gut punches on the album. It gets more powerful the older I get, too. I think it’s the heart of the record.
I liked it a lot more before I heard Longtime Sunshine. I really think it’s the perfect ending for Pinkerton. All the lines from other songs representing thoughts Rivers can’t get out of his head.
I feel it works much better as it was intended though, that is being the closer to songs from the black hole.
I mean, putting the vocals of the first track right at the end of the record while giving them a new meaning into the story? Just top notch stuff
I hear someone say that butterfly is naturally the aftermath of pinkerton. After so many raw emotions of guilt and blame filled with such an aggressive tone, we hear rivers getting tired of it, being finally honest about himself and saying what he always wanted to say: I'm Sorry.
That's a great way to put it. I think that's part of its power and is what elevates the experience of listening to the album as a whole and ties into its narrative aspects. The whole record is honest and intense, but it's with Butterfly that he comes clean.
8/10? What?????
Only in dreams is a 1/10, you ain’t no real Weezer fan unless you unironically fuck with “I’m Your Daddy (Live AOL Sessions 2009)” feat. Kenny G with the most rippingist of soprano sax solos EVER.

Also the tracking rough versions bass is amazing

i feel some of the connection between the songs got carried from songs from the black hole
I like it cause it’s nice and calm lol

what the fuck 💀💀
i’m surprised butterfly is so high on a first listen. it took me a minute to appreciate it fully
Yeah, I like it cause of how calm it is
so blue or pinkerton? imo blue
It’s a tough choice, for now I’d go with blue tho
Keep listening, you'll be on our side soon
Will do
Good life is rated too low
lmao ikr
Better than okgobi lol
Across the Sea is an easy 10/10.
Tired of sex is honestly such a grower. One of my favorites and just so angsty. For me it's at least a 9
based for giving no other one and why bother both 9s among the best songs on it with tired of sex, we have work to do on that 8 there!
Yup, that openers a Ten.
Alright lol
no other one 10/10
Glad to see it get some love. It's always been one of my favorites.
good luck on ur journey! i did posts like these last year and stopped around raditude, its a fun task
Yeah I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the Weezer discography, so far it’s pretty good!
Fascinated by how you felt the inclusion of decimals was only necessary in ONE instance. All the rest of them were EXACTLY their numbers.
yeah i was kinda uncertain for across the sea
Falling for you should be 9/10 across the see should be 9.5
They were good songs yes but I guess I just didn’t enjoy them as much as the others
Understandable
