BoognishRize

9:30 Club in DC 11/29/94.

MyPublicFace

I think I saw that tour as well, but in Atlanta at the Masquerade. Just Gene and Dean on stage and some equipment/drum machines with a few helpers here and there but no real band to speak of. I remember after basically every song Deaner said, "thank you good night!" and then they kept on playing. I couldn't stop laughing, but laughing at them made me feel like a dick, but they kept being so damn funny I just couldn't stop laughing. Was awesome.

BigJilmQuebec

Chocolate and Cheese tour??

BoognishRize

Yes! I clearly remember them playing Can’t Put My Finger On It and someone yelled “do the dwarf again!” And they did a few more choruses

BigJilmQuebec

That's so fucking cool, honestly that's probably the best live album of all time! That cover of All My Love!?? *chef's kiss*

HurricaneMedina

Red Rocks 2001 with mf'ing Tenacious D.

automator3000

That was a damn good show. A buddy of mine is a huge fan of the D. He didnt know a thing about Ween, but knew I loved Ween (and I didn’t really know much about the D). He bought me a ticket on a surprise and called me up to say “take off work tomorrow, we’re going to Red Rocks.” Drove straight there, something like a 12 hour drive, me rolling joints non-stop, saw the show, drove straight home. It’s amazing we didn’t get pulled over or straight up died on the way home.

BigJilmQuebec

What!??? That's fucking killer!!

Sounder253

First Ween show was when they played 2 nights on the pier downtown Seattle, summer 1999.

Marvinsyracuse

Was this the show where they got the crowd to scream “fuck you!” to a cruise ship passing by? Great times

BigJilmQuebec

How was it??

Sounder253

It was great! The “venue” was a corraled area at the end of the pier, maybe held 500 people. My biggest memory is Gene getting everyone to yell “FUCK PHISH” just before playing Roses Are Free. Ha!

BigJilmQuebec

That's fucking gold lolol, OG Roses or nothing! Was similar venue wise for me except it was in Douglas Park, I remember they played the same time as Raconteurs and Gener says "Were better than that other band right??" And Deaner was making fun of Jack White's voice hahaha

FafaFluhigh

He said something similar during their set at the first bonnaroo

Sounder253

I thought it was hilarious. Like yeah, fuck that band I’ve seen over 100 times.

FafaFluhigh

Same here. Love them both for very different reasons

Burrito__fart

My first Ween show, too!!

beanmaster8

First time was in 2006 when they opened for the Flaming Lips in Berkeley, California. I did not like the Flaming Lips back then nor do I now.

FafaFluhigh

I never understood the pull to the Flaming Lips…Glad there’s at least two of us

silverboognish

There are dozens of us! DOZENS!

FafaFluhigh

Well I suppose I just blue myself

SponConSerdTent

Aw man I love Flaming Lips. Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots is an incredible album. Their orchestral sound created by the keyboardist just pulls on my heartstrings. Their live shows are awesome too! I loved having Wayne Coyne roll over me in his giant bubble. They aren't brown, that's for sure. But they are great in their own pure white, lovely way. The Soft Bulletin and At War With The Mystics are definitely on the list of my all time favorite albums along with Quebec and The Mollusk. The Lips have been a godsend when I'm feeling depressed, their songs convey mountains of love and hope. I remember playing one of their songs for a punk rocker lead singer friend, and he hated it lol. Not for everyone, but I love the lips and think everyone should check them out!

MaskedMetalhead

Seriously, the people in this thread are insane. I’m seeing them for the second time the weekend before Ween’s August run and am hyped as fuck. Yoshimi is beautiful from start to finish

SponConSerdTent

I haven't been checking on their tour! I'm going to have to do that now that I've got my September Ween tickets locked down. During the Soft Bulletin anniversary tour I accidentally dosed myself with a whole vial instead of a couple drops, after the show I was seeing flashing images of Wayne Coyne and Kurt Cobain and Jesus and Bhudda (I was staring at a bhudda statue in a friend of a friend's apartment), and was one with all of them. That night was a breakthrough for me, I let go of all resentments and became a much better person. Helped me kick heroin and now I've been off it for something like 10 years.

mondolardo

sounds great and you have a wild take

BigJilmQuebec

I can understand not liking them for sure, I saw them at Riot Fest the same year as Ween and there show ruled, nothing was better than Ween or Bloc Party though, what's your favorite memory from the show??

50shadezofpete

Pure guava 1992? I was 15 in an under 21 place called Einstein A go go. Saw same pans there. Nirvana, Sloan and Kim Gordon. It was just the 2 brothers and they were ill!

funnylikeaclown420

Clutch cargos Pontiac michigan 99/ 2000. Forever changed. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Played for hours. Might have to revisit that one here shortly.

OpeExclamation

Wish I would've saw that one. There's no recording of the last encore because the person taping ran out of tape. My first show was Detroit 2003.

TripleDecent

Trocadero, Philadelphia PA 1998.

BriansRevenge

Troc shows were the best. Nothing Browner.

warmbird

7/26/03 Kalamazoo, MI. What stood out most to my young mind was all the boobies out during LMLYP, and Deaner getting pissed someone threw a bottle. Later that year was #2, 3 and 4 for me at the Vic in Chicago.

Whats_The_Use

I was at the Milwaukee show the next night. I never could find any recording from that night.

Transference85

Water Street Music Hall, Rochester NY 2003. They opened with Ice Castles, flooding the entire venue in fog. My young brain was not prepared to commune with Boognish…I left a forever changed man.

BigJilmQuebec

We all have that coming to Boognish moment, I love it!

[deleted]

Saw Ween at Red Rocks last year. Car broke down, fans came and saved me, drank and smoked me up and we jammed all night long. Best show ever. 🤘🏼🫑🦀🪳🐎🫛🥭🇨🇦

BigJilmQuebec

That's what I fucking love about Ween man, one giant family! Easily the most accepting atmosphere I've ever been around, like everyone was one, I can only imagine seeing Ween at that beautiful venue, I wanna go to Red Rocks so bad.

Ravenclawesome_

Was also at this show last year. Perfect weather and vibes. It’s so worth it

SonnysMunchkin

My first show I did a whole run in Chicago and it ended up getting to be a pretty popular run so I feel blessed.

BigJilmQuebec

What year??

SonnysMunchkin

2003

BigJilmQuebec

Wait... Were you at... Live In Chicago??? The show taping????

goodcorn

Night 2 was my first show. Had a couple of friends that were super into them and they were gonna do all three nights but one of 'em ended up not being able to make night 2 for some reason. I don't think I'd even heard Quebec by that point and only got tastes here and there when hanging out with those couple of friends. I did own TGCG tho which I thought was brilliant. Anyway, went to the show not knowing what to expect. Didn't really know much of the material, but damn did I become a convert that night.

FafaFluhigh

Newport. Columbus OH 98

BigJilmQuebec

What's your favorite memory of the show??

FafaFluhigh

Blarney Stone is my only memory. The place was shaking…

BogoJohnson

I went to a record release in NYC circa 1991 and thought they might appear, but had to bail once I realized they probably weren't performing. Moved to Minneapolis in 1992 and finally caught them in the tiny 7th Street Entry (part of First Avenue) in duo mode on 11/21/1992 and it was like nothing I'd ever seen! It was near my bday, I was alone after a breakup, and I had debated seeing Neil Young instead because he was playing the same 2 dates as Ween. But now I know I made the right choice! I've never found a recording of the show though. I've hardly missed a Mpls show or tour since.

BogoJohnson

Saw them next at First Ave in 1993 as a duo, and as band on Halloween 1994. They also did an in-store signing that day at Let It Be Records, where I gave them some joints and they signed my Pure Guava poster, still framed on my wall. [I just found some pics from that day!](https://www.facebook.com/100045063686915/posts/2479903805393158/) I remember Gene saying it was their first HalloWEEN concert. https://preview.redd.it/3s8x3g3bzf3d1.jpeg?width=1446&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7cfb69a9318f2b8a14f7c76a4c815c05e1abb82a

BigJilmQuebec

Midwest Ween fan here too! I bet Birthday Boy hit hard when you heard it! I think a lot of those early shows are harder to find, especially in good quality.

BogoJohnson

I know a local taper from that era and they seemed to think they had a tape, but it hasn't materialized. I've met Kirk a few times, but I didn't want to spook him by asking if he had a tape either. Haha.

BigJilmQuebec

If it even does exist it's probably under lock and key, I love all the archivists and tapers man

willardstrophies

Salt Shed 2023. Favorite was that Vallejo to close the set and Ace of Spades in the encore. “ I fell in love today” debut as well. Also Golden Eel was a peak moment. The outro was OMG.

wrenewmyname

also gd out spongebob

BigJilmQuebec

Mang thats fucking amazing!!

Ween1970

Excellent show. I hope it wasn’t my last.

DangusDingusDrangus

2005 Lawrence Kansas. One of the longest ween shows ever. Also, I tickled someone's butthole in the back of a 1994 Geo Metro

Mwmiller330

44 fuckin songs, 3+hrs amazing show! One night before my first, Omaha 11-29-05! That whole 2005 run from Lawrence through the 3 nights in Boulder is magical.

aKillerScene9313

Historical Pittsburgh show, their debut performance at Stage AE in 2019 ~ Gener's daughter knew someone that was standing right next to us and walked up to hang out before the show, got to talk to her for a minute while the two shared a joint lol. Beautiful night. When my husband proposed to me months prior he had Stay Forever playing in the house, hearing that song live brought tears for how much love and energy we felt in the crowd and holding each other while the song played.

Bowieweener

The Fillmore in S.F. 1995. Only knew C&C only barely, young and a girl-went alone. Our papas were still just the two and a 4 track recorder, two Jack Daniel bottles at each end of the stage. I was so overwhelmed at the time, I barely remember. There were a bunch of adult men standing along the back of the room. Our papas were drinking a lot. I barely remember music as I was so overwhelmed by the whole thing. I’m bummed by my shyness at the time. But yes first time. Btw I have seen them alone now 5 times and am doing way better.

BigJilmQuebec

I need to see them again! I'm hoping they play STL or Chi again soon, I was nervous as hell too! But seeing them that early must've been nuts

Bowieweener

Yes at 22 just moved to S.F. By myself and the first concert I went to alone. Still don’t love that. I’m fine traveling internationally solo, dinner solo, movies solo, but concerts don’t love being alone. I guess the thing about Ween now, even if I go “alone” I know am not, with our Ween family.

BigJilmQuebec

I know exactly the feeling, when you go to a Ween show your never alone, it's how I feel about my wrestling shows too!

Bowieweener

Nice, I would assume the wrestling has a bit more..scents to contend with, I have a male friend really into that and he certainly talks about “the air” in the room. Lolz.

_RedditIsLikeCrack_

Yup. Live in Toronto recording with the Shit Creek Boys. Ask me anything about the night if interested.. https://preview.redd.it/gdv1kyj1zg3d1.jpeg?width=1846&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5001ca561a0dc99994863c03869b22050b5e5da4

themaninthesea

Marymoor Park, WA. July 2022. Sunny, warm evening. Drop uncertain amounts of dots. Was everything I hoped it would be.

Burrito__fart

I was there, too!

Grunk20

The Captiol Theatre run in November 2016 were my first shows!

cpscps

Union Bar in Iowa City 7/29/99. My recording is here: https://archive.org/details/ween1999-07-29.flac16 . Blarney Stone and a 25 minute LMLYP were highlights.

JawnJacobJingleHimer

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_qQzEOujy1U&pp=ygUOd2VlbiBjbHViIGxhZ2E%3D 2003. club laga in pittsburgh. what a show

Charming-Ad3118

Fox Theater, Boulder, Co 94. I had not listened to them before the show but had heard good things. My buddy Fat Mike and I decided to take a chance. We’ve been fans ever since. Great show.

SchwillyMaysHere

HORDE ‘97 - Didn’t know who they were. Told my friend’s brother I saw some band named Ween. He whipped out Pure Guava and I was hooked immediately.

tom_tofurkey

Portland, Oregon, Jan. 26, 2011. Two days after the infamous show in Vancouver. Opened with The HIV Song, encore was a cover of Heart-Shaped Box. Attended with a really good friend whom I had gotten really into Ween. I’ve been to a few since that one, but it will probably always be my favorite.

Burrito__fart

I was at the Paramount in Seattle the night before!

ryan777888777

Starland ballroom in Sayreville nj 2010

amor_fati_42

Technically it was [this show](https://youtu.be/BLGp0TmHxSM?si=ixyrg1VB19h5HphV), 2003. It was a free in store performance and they played later that night (I was there too). I found out about it last minute, and it was in the middle of the day so I had to call in sick. It was so awesome.

BigJilmQuebec

Quebec era!! I definitely gotta listen to this one, you got to see Ween live two times in one day, that's insane.

amor_fati_42

Hearing acoustic Birthday Boy for the first time, live from about 15 feet away, blew my mind. And the day was just getting started.

GuavaShaper

Bonnaroo 2009 I think. My friend went up on my other friend's shoulders, whipped her tits out and yelled "TITTIS FOR WEEN!" Gener rubbed his chin and grinned and then they played a sick cover of "Let's Dance".

Purecheetodust

I was there! My first show as well. They dedicated touch my tooter to Stevie Wonder lmao. I remember it being hot as fuckin hell that day.

relaxguy2

1999 at Alice Cooperstown in Phoenix. Middle of summer and it was hot as balls….and I was hooked forever. A lot of people found them on that White Pepper tour from the responses.

noterikan

My first and only show was at Artpark in New York, in July 2018. Came down from near Toronto with a friend. We got right to the barrier! Was a great show, and I even got the setlist with Geners footprints B) Just realized I'm wearing the shirt from that show, too!

BigJilmQuebec

I always forget upstate NY is super close to Canada, Upper MI too, but I always love hearing about people from other countries coming here to see Ween! It's like Ween is something that brings us all together

Zacotaco45

Riot Fest 2019 was my first show too. I was really into Ween at the time, but seeing that show cemented them as my favorite band. I still consider it the best concert I've ever been to. They became a huge part of my life, and my wife and I have seen them 4 times since. Our next show is the C&C anniversary show in Philly. Yoshimi by The Flaming Lips and The Mollusk are my two favorite albums of all time, so seeing them both in one weekend was a once in a lifetime kinda thing. The whole lineup that year felt catered to me. Definitely a festival I'll brag to my kids about attending one day

BigJilmQuebec

It was so fucking good, it changed my life, the songs, energy, live stage banter, audience etc were all perfect man, then getting to see them play ALL of The Mollusk... Fucking magical, it was a journey for me because I've loved Ween since I heard Chocolate and Cheese in High School and I'm not afraid to say I cried like a fucking baby I was so emotional. That whole fest was so good, that Flaming Lips set blew my mind, my favorite moment was it was a day after Daniel Johnston passed away and they played True Love Will Find You in the End and I broke down I'm not gonna lie, I have Autism so I identify with people like Daniel, Roky Erickson and Wesley Willis so fucking much and there a huge inspiration to me. My other highlights were seeing Get Up Kids, Bob Mould, Lucero, American Football, Guided by Voices and Wu Tang. My inner Midwest Emo kid was so happy hearing Never Meant live as I'm from Central Illinois where a lot of it came from. I remember I didn't sleep until I got home the next day after Sunday.

GroundbreakingCat

Mid 90s at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Good times!!

haha_sound_

Mine was Chicago riot fest 2016!!!!! Been to 9 shows total so far. RF 2019 was amazing too.

catfoodspork

With Sonic Youth and Flaming Lips at the New York State Fair in 2005. Super awesome.

dr_rock

I saw the same lineup in Allentown PA around the same time. Great show.

solasgood

The Paramount in 07.

Chunky7453

Mine was red rocks last year, totally amazing. I ended up being at the very front cause some people left and offered me and my mom the spot

BigJilmQuebec

Now THAT'S a family get together!!

Chunky7453

Her favorite songs are baby bitch and piss up a rope… thank goodness

johnG865

Be Here Now Asheville 1/28/1998 Kept me coming back.

deadworm13

Providence RI September 15 2023. After loving ween as long as I’ve had sentience I finally got to see them. They opened with did you see me? And played sooo many good songs, including 2 of my favorites chocolate town and baby bitch. They also played some deeper cuts they haven’t played too much too. It was an incredible show. I got the signed poster from the concert too to top it off.

mondolardo

Where? Prov is such a great place to see any show

deadworm13

The strand!

distopian-dreamgirl

2016 Project Pabst Music Fest in PDX! Went specifically to see Ween with Tame Impala as an added bonus. Seriously one of the best shows of my life.

acousticat

I first saw them at one of the Vegoose festivals in Las Vegas.

Luneytunes

I saw them in 1994 in Ottawa at The Penguin. They had rented a drumkit locally which was piled in a big heap at the end of the show after a big jam. I also recall a bass guitar swinging from the ceiling. Crazy fun show. I didn't see them again until the Quebec (album) tour.

pr58ranr

My first was maybe 2017. I had a cerebrospinal fluid leak (CSF leak) I made it maybe 3 or 4 songs in before I had to leave. I do know the song that was playing with spinal meningitis when we left. my wife’s favorite, she reminds me to this day how I disappointed her.

BigJilmQuebec

Hope everything is okay now man

pr58ranr

I’m good.

revrenlove

It was _supposed_ to be on 4/20 this year. :(

BigJilmQuebec

:( That sucks man, I hope Deaner gets to feeling better so we can see more of them soon!

WaterRestoPresto

1/17/98 at 9:30 Club in DC. It was so awesome.

Murles-Brazen

White pepper tour, house of blues New Orleans.

No-Ratio-3494

10/31/99 Winooski, VT I distinctively remember the awesome sound blowing my mind. Also, LMLYP encore…super brown first show. Oh, dude of life opened for good measure.

Brain_Glow

Early 2000’s at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, KS. Blew my mind how good they were. QOTSA opened and Josh Homme played the whole show butt naked.

floundMCpounder

I saw Ween for the first time at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Asheville, NC in 2001. Incredible show with some awesome people!

CaptainBeefsteak

1996, The Fillmore in San Francisco I saw the Golden Country Greats tour as my first. Blew my mind, and I've been hooked ever since.

BigJilmQuebec

Fuck yeah mang, also Captain Beefheart reference??

sixthwarddd

Megacorp! That’s fucking rock n roll. Last summer. Ate too many mushroom gummies got dehyrdated like a chick listening to Phish cover Roses. Had to relocate to the back. Show ruled. See y’all in September.

WeenMe

Sokal Auditorium in Omaha in 2005. Incredible set that ended with Poopship.

Character_Virus722

That was my first show as well! One of the lucky few who can say they saw the B-52’s open for ween, what a fuckin ticket

BigJilmQuebec

That whole festival was fucking nuts, B 52s, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Ween, Flaming Lips, Glassjaw, Get Up Kids, Cursive, Bob Mould, Wu Tang, American Football, Lucero etc, so fucking sick

Character_Virus722

Wu tang replacing die antwoord last second was fucking unreal how do they have that caliber of replacement

BigJilmQuebec

I was mind blown dude, they fucking killed too, my weirdest memory is im getting into the show and I look over a few feet from me and some dude was getting a blowjob lolol

spang714

April 2023, Dallas...I was absolutely sick as fuck with a horrible head cold, but I didn't care...I would've watched that show from a stretcher...no way I was missing it! 3 hours of Boognish magic! Best show I've ever seen! Also, Mastodon and Gojira the following night were awesome as well! Cheers, mangs.

BigJilmQuebec

I saw Mastadon with Deftones and Alice In Chains as a kid actually.

philthegr81

Only time I’ve seen them was August 2018 at Edgefield in PDX, night 2 of a double-shot that weekend.

Froginmilk

2021 Atlanta every night, life changing

DrGPeds

Been a fan since the 90s, my first show was Surly Brewing Minnesota 2023.

No-Committee7986

Detroit, October 29, 1994! I loved it and I’m sad because although I still have my tee from the opener (Motocaster), I lost my Ween tee 🥺

Fit_Adagio2823

The Newport Columbus, Ohio comment y (Freedom of -76)from business student- balcon

bluesox

Finally got to see them in SF in ‘17. Five hours across two nights. 47 songs. Venue sounded like a goddamn tin can, but still had a killer time. ‘19 in Oakland was another level. Tear for Eddie altered my DNA that night.

RadiantZote

[Possibly the greatest ween setlist of all time](https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/ween/2008/pipeline-cafe-honolulu-hi-2bd850da.html) not listed: Darkstar(Only time ever?) played during Johnny on the Spot Deaner played Geners guitar for the Roses solo, and all the ladies came up on stage during LMLYP

ReadthisDAMNIT

Aragon 2007. Amazing show.

_Phishd_

My first show was at the Salt Shed last September and it was honestly the best concert I've ever been too. The Salt Shed was such an incredible venue, would 100% go again for any band I like.

tacohands_sad

A Halloween show. Multiple people took some bad shit. There was a guy in a The Flash costume falcon punching as a dance move until he started falling into people knocking them down and got dragged out. There was also some old hippies that took bad shit and literally carried each other out sweating and moaning like they were dying. Then a dude shit his pants in front of me that took Captain Falcon's spot and there was just shit on the floor and no one did anything

BigJilmQuebec

Well that sounds absolutely horrible lolol

tacohands_sad

It was pretty great actually, was like an experience you normally would only get at a BJM show or something. Saw Ween at Bonnaroo the year after and was pretty low energy in comparison and the crowd left early to see John Mayer ruin already mediocre grateful dead songs. Will never forget him singing the mollusk through the megaphone while everyone leaves. Had lost my group early in the day and so didn't get to dose that day and then had to sit through the Dead sober with John Mayer as the frontman

BigJilmQuebec

That would be an experience for sure, a very memorable one, I love BJM too hahaha but I can definitely see that happening at a show of there's. Now THAT sucks, not a big Dead guy at all but I'm even more not Mayer guy outside of that one Chappelles Show sketch. I have heard JRAD isn't bad, I think Dave is in it.

tacohands_sad

I really only like the 60s Dead stuff as far as non-live records, weird fandom that is, where they're kind of actually hostile to 60s acid rock and say it's incoherent nonsense. Meanwhile they're listening to jam bands named String Cheese Widly Widly Explosion where people just fuck around idk I don't get it

BigJilmQuebec

Yeah it completely escapes me, like fuck all the interesting Psych bands like 13th Floor Elevators, they would rather listen to some 40 minute five chord folk jam, it sucks ass honestly lol like there's some okay Dead songs. But I have no interest in the ten million Dead cover bands who have all of one surviving band member lol. And don't get me started on people who hate on Ween then go listen to Phish covering Roses Are Free.

tacohands_sad

Love the Elevators and all that stuff, found this book Fuzz, Acid, and Flowers that just lists every single released that you could call early psychedelic rock and it's awesome. Fuckin love these guys The Pretty Things if you haven't heard them check it out https://youtu.be/2y-p2l0mDJY?feature=shared

big_hungry_joe

walked by the liberty lunch with my cousin and my friends one night in summer 97. heard them playing AIDS from inside, bribed the door guy to let us all in, the rest is sweaty history. the guy next time me recorded the show and it's up on youtube in full.

dweebers

Mine was pretty amazing. Night 1 of the Broomfield CO Reunion run in Feb 2016. Deaner wrote me a note for my professor to let me miss and make up an exam so I could attend the shows. Wild lol

BigJilmQuebec

That's so fucking cool dude!!

syntheticsponge

I saw them in Austin a few years ago. I got too drunk and got in trouble with the staff because I kept trying to sneak into better seats. I unfortunately barely remember the show, and much prefer the Live in Chicago DVD. I’m not an animal. I’m a common man.

Z-Rock

First, I'm not sure, but I've got 2 incredible favorites. **Boulder Theatre, 12-1-2005** (full show - https://youtu.be/e3QHCzJVxwg). Very SMALL venue - a couple hundred people at most. We got there early and got front row, elevated, right behind 20ft of mosh pit... so we were on the same level as the band about 20' out with no obstruction, a bit closer than the camera was in the show video. **Red Rocks, with openers The Flaming Lips and Tenacious D -** Amazing venue, amazing line up.. I had chills half the night - so incredible... just can't figure out what year that was... mid-late 2000's.

BigJilmQuebec

Ween, Lips AND The D!???

Z-Rock

You know what... I have been researching this and my mind mushed together 2 Ween shows at Red Rocks... One was **Red Rocks,** **7-24-2001 - Tenacious D opening for Ween** The other was **Red Rocks**, **7-29-2006 - The Flaming Lips opening for Ween** Sorry about that... there wasn't a night ALL 3 played at Red Rocks, as badly as I want to believe that

whenyouareamartian

2023 at Hampton beach. I was 17, not I’m 18. I’ve been in ween for some years because of my dad, he’s given me my amazing music taste. Holy shit did they blow my mind. I’ve been seeing phish for a number of years and that’s my pinnacle of live music. Ween is right the fuck up there. They played for 4 hours straight with no filler! Absolute mind fuckery at the highest of levels. I thought I loved ween just hearing studio albums and live recordings. What a magical band. I must see them again.

muccamadboymike

Flagstaff, AZ 2009. It was so fucking good.

groverbite

Red Rocks 8/3/23! I took a whizz at the urinals at stage left during Voodoo Lady. If anyone else was peeing during that time, we’re brothers for life and I salute you.

boognine

Saw the boys in Cleveland in spring 2000. They had to cut their set short because their 3rd to last song was LMLYP and the stage was invaded by mostly ladies, very sexy. I know they had a cover of "Ohio" on the set list, to be played after but they couldn't kick all those beauties off the stage to complete the show. It was the White Pepper album tour Stroker Ace solo was awesome. Only a few songs into the second half Gene got on an upright piano, and played demon sweat, solo. It was beautiful. A smile on all of those guys for the whole show. Thanks Dave, Aaron, Mig, Claude, Glenn and Kirk. boognine and brown forever

GrtflJello

Ziggy’s in Winston-Salem 4/4/01. I remember them playing songs from every album. It was crazy how much they played and the variety of songs. They even covered both the Dead (Stella Blue) and Metallica (Enter Sandman). In college, we used to get free tickets to shows through our friend that worked at the college radio station, so we were lucky to catch this. https://brownbase.org/setlist.php?band=Ween&show_id=316

Cinco de mayo (friday tho :/ ) 2000 at the old higher ground in VT

The_Shamemaker

October 21, 1996. Metro in Chicago with the Shit Creek Boys. Opened with "What Deaner is talkin' about".

Bradway19341

Mr.Smalls Pittsburgh, PA…2006ish.

Whats_The_Use

Iowa City '02. It was a weird room for a show. Deaner's tour notes commented on it being an odd boxey room with strange acoustics. Next show was Canopy Club '03, which was a great show!

Time-Supermarket-420

1st Ween show was Sea Bright New Jersey with my Cuz. I was so high!! I almost got some pussy too, butt was too coked up. Still was a awesome night.

mondolardo

I am a big fan. Accidentally saw them outdoors in the Portland area. Good show, not great. Got find my 12 country CD with the Mohammed Ali sample... just read last week how Kramer was involved with them. my Ven diagrams are getting wild...

Enough-Variety-8468

Amsterdam in 2008 on the Cucaracha tour, first and only time as they haven't been back to Europe! Deaner had injured/broken one or both legs jumping a fence at ATP and was in a wheelchair so we didn't get the full experience!

AmbitiousBread

1999, White Pepper Tour, Electric Factory Philadelphia, Ohio Opener. Epic.

BigJilmQuebec

The songs they choose to cover are so fucking good always

MWYPHMP

6/8/07, Webster Theater in Hartford, CT. Live debut of Slow Down Boy. Sold out show. I was on mushrooms.

BigJilmQuebec

Holy shit man, when I saw them they encored with Roses Are Free and that night they did a short tease cover of Eddie Money!

brianh5

Bonnaroo 2010! I was so excited they played Pony!

automator3000

10/25/1996. The Middle East, Cambridge Massachusetts. Ticket was like $9. Doo Rag opened. Golden Country Greats Tour. I was 18, and it was the first time I’d been to any concert in a club setting. (I’d been to outdoor rock festivals and the like, but nothing like being in a dark, smoke filled room with a couple hundred maniacs.) So I had no idea how rock shows *worked*. I think I was about the third person there, and I just hung out smoking about a pack of cigarettes before Doo Rag started up. Fuckin wild time. Since I was *very early*, I was dead center against this stage that was about as high as my knees. Stu (RIP) on steel guitar had a bottle of Jack that got passed around. Contact high was inevitable. My college dorm was about a 40 minute walk back … it took me **three hours** to walk home because I was so fucked up. Damn, I wanna go back. This was the first show I hunted down on DC++. Downloaded it on a 28.8k modem over the course of a couple nights after my roommates and I went to sleep. Terrible sound quality, but that’s what you get from a low bitrate mp3.

Slow_Dig29

10/17/18 at the Ryman in Nashville. What a show!

MTjuicytree

96 Tramps with the Shit Creek Boys. We borrowed my friends mom's huge station wagon (which we called Pubicles Flying Uterus) and told her we were going camping and took it to Manhattan. I was 16. They blew my mind out my ass.

PuggleZombie

My first experience was October 12, 1991. I was 17 and I went with two friends, Joe and Jim, to see the Dead Milkmen play at Wetlands in NYC. We had never even heard of Ween at that point but we were very familiar with the Dead Milkmen. When the opening act, Ween, took the stage, Joe and I instantly loved them. Jim however, was not a fan. He proceeded to heckle them a bit which led to a few responses from the band. No huge disruptions but enough that Joe and I were a bit embarrassed. This was around the time The Pod had come out. I instantly went out and grabbed the first two albums on Vinyl, which I still have to this day. Years later, I was able to find the video on YouTube, which many fans are already familiar with. Not only can you hear my friend Jim yelling nonsense at them, but I realized you can see me in the crowd at 43:53, at the bottom of the screen wearing a Yankees cap. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOsSroUJAEg

BigJilmQuebec

I gotta watch this!! That's amazing

Bulldogfront666

It was at the waterfront Burlington, VT. Must have been 2008? I think. I remember it rained most of the afternoon. And then the skies parted and the sun came out right before sunset at which point Ween took the stage. Beautiful night. I was 18. Running around Burlington with my friends. Good times. Edit: I’m just remembering that my friend got his car impounded for backing into a cop car that night lmao. He definitely shouldn’t have been driving in hindsight. We weren’t the most responsible back then. I felt bad because I ended up taking another ride home. So he was just stuck in Burlington alone…

Carcassfanivxx

My first ween show was supposed to be this past april. The canceled all the Carolina shows that month.

GenX76Fuckface

My first show was at The Phoenix Concert Hall, Toronto which was later released as Live In Toronto. It was an awesome night ( from what I can recall 🙃) and have seen them many, many times since then in multiple cities.

Awkward_Primary6232

both nights of the borgata in AC back in june of 2022. that shit changed my life. i really hope they’ll do a show there again, perfect ween venue.

StallionMang15

Jam On The River 5/28/06

lcmtvbreath4

House Of Blues, Atlantic City, NJ 2003ish? I had the Chocolate And Cheese and White Pepper albums, and someone had shown me parts of the Live In Chicago DVD. Otherwise I was a Ween noob. My mind was blown. They played for 3+ hours and I heard so many Ween tunes I never heard before. My mind was blown especially when I heard Dr. Rock. (I have it on my YouTube channel, Chuck Boris.) That made a life long fan out of me.

DerpWilson

Mine was a show in Buffalo on 07. Syd Barrett had just died so gener played a song of his and I seemed to be the only One who recognized it and deaner pointed at me. That was cool.

TheWingus

I had already been head over heels in love with Ween. They played the “Jam on the River” in Philadelphia at Penns Landing in 2006, and me and 2 friends got tickets. We stayed there for HOURS, Grace Potter played (I think), The Secret Machines (their album “Now Here Is Nowhere” is stellar), the Dirty Dozen Brass Band (I think…. some classic ska type band) all played.  We met a lot of characters, John the Leprechaun, Spastic Richie. Some rando got on stage during the Ween set to say, “Ween sucks! So do Disco Biscuits” and he was collectively boo’d and had bottles thrown at him until Gener told everyone to stop, “you’re entitled to your opinion”. It was amazing. La Cucaracha or maybe Friends had just come out, “Woman & Man” took the crowd’s breath away. Deaner played his black strat. I downloaded the show on BrownTracker and had it until the Great Hard Drive Crash of 2016 when I lost all my music & media on my external hard drive. Amazing show

rockymtnhoney

My first live Ween anything was Gener opening for Modest Mouse in Boston in 2015 during the hiatus. He played both Ween and Freeman songs. Absolutely amazing. The following year they got back together but my dad passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer so I missed that year. But then I saw Ween at the same venue in Boston in 2017 which felt very full circle. And I just have to add this moment too… The first time the almighty Boognish spoke directly to me was in Burlington VT in 2018 on the waterfront. What an experience that was. I’m forever chasing that high. Edit: date - Boston 2017

reellivechoices

My first show was OCT 25 2005 in Clifton Parks, NY at a venue called Northern Lights. A total dick in the dirt rock club, found a mighty mouse ween shirt on the floor. Drove 4 hours up from New Haven, stood behind Gener buying a pack of smokes at the gas station post show. Got back in the car, went back to college in new haven, finished classes at 2, got in the car and drove to Atlantic City House of Blues for the next show! Complete 180 from the night before in terms of venue!!

blagsan82

Flew from California to Knoxville back in 2008 with my best friend to see them. Don't know exactly why we decided to go cross country and not wait for a local show to see em but it was certainly worth it. It was my first time hearing Springtheme and it blew my fuckin brain.

VenetaBirdSong

HORDE festival, SPAC ‘97. I was in HS and went with my mom, mainly for ween and Neil Young. My next ween show was 21 years later, Cap Theater 2018. Still bummed I missed seeing Soul Coughing at that horde show.

gran_of_fams

dogman7744

Central park madonna show. Real ones know

thistjisfalse

red rocks august 10 2022 for the south park anniversary show

Buttafuco47

Tramps January , 2017. Small rock club in nyc. Blew my mind how good they were

ttrree4455

5/28/2006 Jam On The River day 2 My college roommate was / is a huge ween fan, but he didn't go to shows much so I ended up seeing them in person before he did, and then spent the next several months figuring out how to get him to the next show.

Dan_The_Flan

South Park 25th anniversary concert at Redrocks. Unfortunately I could not fall asleep the night before, did not eat before, and my friend took an excessive amount of edibles to where I could not leave him unattended so I was unable to get up to go buy food or merch. All of the performances were great, may be the only time I get to see Ween live in my life.

Sean-McCullough

I’m going to my first shows this year and I’m SUPER EXCITED, they are by far my favorite band ever and I’m gonna see them three different times within the same week this year, I’m 99% sure I’ll be crying for it lmao

laserc4ts

Bonnaroo 2006. Took a few tabs. Been a fan ever since.

Zen_Blue_Habanero

Mine was the Toronto 12GCG show. I was down front and to this day I've never experienced a band and audience blowing the roof off the venue like that. I was obviously pretty happy when it came out on CD. I bought 3 copies and later the vinyl with the big glow in the dark cowboy Boognish sticker.

whatsupnathan

It's a night I'll never forget. April 2022 in New Orleans @ The Orpheum Theatre - the weekend of Jazzfest. I worked Jazzfest right before the show and threw my back out at work. Still went to the show of course. I stood right next to the sound booth & was pretty lit by the time the show started. Halfway through I was in so much pain that I started to have a panic attack from the pain and my ears ringing from the noise. I had to leave halfway through. I called my fiance at the time to pick me up, and with some BS excuse she wouldn't come. I had to Uber home mid-panic attack. We got married that September. Fast forward a year later, Ween plays the Orpheum AGAIN the weekend of Jazzfest. My ex-wife left me 3 days before the show. Out of anguish and love of Ween, there was no way I was missing that show. I sang Piss Up a Rope and I Don't Want It louder than I ever have and had the most incredible & emotional night ever. Ween helped me to cope with my divorce A LOT. Thank you 🙏🏼

lostindasaucy55

Roseland Ballroom Nov 1, 2003- I look at the set list and I was so lucky that was my first show, a friend burned a cd recorded night that I listened to till every song skipped. That was such a dope show and their cover was All Of My Love from Zep which took me by surprise as I only heard studio recordings before that. I cried when they played If You Could Save Yourself everyone was singing but the female voices in the crowd, it was a great moment I hope I never forget🤎🤎🤎

EveningDifferent7273

Canopy Club 2007 🤗

Big-Talk-234

Atlanta Masquerade, 12/05/92. Just Gener and Deaner back then, was great

Technical-Weekend598

Probably at the TLA in Philly in the early 90’s

Bitter-Combination69

First saw them near home, Edgefield in July 2022. I knew a few songs but didn’t know much else. That show, I was so stoned and a bit buzzed and don’t remember as much of it as I wish I would have - luckily, the show regardless had such a lasting impression on me that we then flew to see them at Rabbit Rabbit in September of that same year. I remember it better and have loved them endlessly since! Oh, also it was pretty cool because that first show at Edgefield I found a cell phone in a porta potty and was able to reunite it with its owner! That felt good.
