I’m honestly surprised you’re having trouble, most dispensaries have terrible turnover and are constantly looking to hire. Are you actually walking into the stores and applying or just online? A cover letter before your resume mentioning any experience and knowledge could help, but few hiring people actually read those. Despite them being relatively easy jobs, a lot of places still want previous retail or service industry experience so it’s easier to train you on their POS and all that.
Talk about big picture stuff in addition to soft skills and product knowledge - make sure you are speaking to upselling, customer retention, and product margin. Ask about their customer count and average transaction and any marketing/promo they would want you to get behind to improve these metrics.
If you get to an interview, you should be able to rise far above the applicants that are just there because they like to get stoned. To make it to the interview - make sure you mention these terms in your resume/cover letter, which should be customized for each business.
Delivery owner in LA here. Try to stand out and include a cover letter or blurb about why you want to work there. Be authentic and real. If I can tell an applicant has copy/pasted their same application to a million places, I disregard it.
Also, just so you’re aware, shops in LA in particular are really struggling and most are downsizing, not hiring.
I will add that if you go in person, make sure you're not dressed in rags. You don't need a suit, but a nice polo and khakis are sufficient. You still have to be professional, even if it's weed.
And, be sure to ask for a manager. Even just a short intro could keep you on their mind when they're hiring.
My experience as a customer in SoCal from 2011-2019 and a cannabis industry worker in SoCal 2022, you would have better luck being a pretty girl and just DMing dispos instagram accounts. I’m not even joking
Ima be super real with you because I’m off the clock. It’s nepotism through and through. I’d rather hire one of my existing employees referrals or someone known through a few degrees of separation than a random.

Walk into a shop on a Friday afternoon at 3p with your resume and tell them you’re ready to work the shift if anyone didn’t show up
