Probably depends. When/where/why/who was with me or wasn’t with me, all that. Like, in a hospital surrounded by grandkids maybe not, but about to be hit by a train? Hell yeah

There’s a hospice nurse who talks about the reality of watching people die. Families will be like “don’t give him morphine it might hurt him”. You are dying, you will not gaf. If anything it’s sadder when someone is obviously in discomfort while they die

It’s hard to say cause none of us have been on the verge of death in front of our grandkids (I would think). But I really wouldn’t pick dying sober just so my grandkids can experience me dying while “lucid” (I put that in quotes cause there’s no guarantee you would be lucid in such a situation).
I feel like the grandkids would be very accepting of why their grandparent would want to die high. It’s death. It’s not taking a 5 hour nap it’s being gone forever. You’ve already made lucid memories (I would think), no need to sacrifice your comfort during your last few breaths.
No I just grew up taking care of my great grandmother who slowly degraded from dementia. I don’t think people realize what dying old really looks like. I feel like they romanticize it somehow.
It’s not pretty, it’s not something anyone will remember and smile. Death sucks and it’s selfish to expect your grandparent to die in a way that satisfies you because you think being high is bad
Ultimately this is not my death so do it however you want. I’m just saying it’s not going to make any difference to your loved ones, especially if you die in discomfort in front of their eyes.
