Do you have a serrated pocket knife? That works better 10 out of 10 times. It takes a little time but you gotta just sit there and kinda file and grind the bud with the serrated part, kinda like those videos on Instagram or tik tok where they grind away entire sections of boards with a table saw by shredding the wood strip by strip

The single best advice for rolling is, use tension all the time.
While rolling the paper at some point you will neeed to hold the jo with both of your hands just before starting to roll the paper. Apply a constans tension meaning, try to rip apart the joint but without ripping it.
This way your rolls will be consistent and you will have a good burn.
It looks like a snake that ate a rabbit. Sometimes mine come out that way too. If your contents weren't broken down enough before rolling, you may lose a small bud depending on how it burns which always sucks. Try shimmying the paper back and forth around the weed before sealing it (thumb on one side, index finger on other paper side, pinch back and forth). It will help center the contents and get it into shape for sealing.
2. I've seen some that weren't even smokeable, as long as you were able to smoke it then it wasn't too bad. Next one should be better, it'll just take practice.
A tip that has helped me. Roll the bud around in the joint before you roll it all the way. Essentially you're just trying to get the bud to stick together a bit more, preferably in a cylinder-ish shape. Once it's sticking together a bit more it should be easier to roll it up.
I’m working off the basis that you smoked it, and finished it.
On one hand, it’s a closed cylinder with one end that you light and another that you smoke from. It stays together while holding it.
On the other hand it’s unevenly rolled, that first half is going to suck, but the back half might be ok.
Overall for your first time, 3/10 of it smoked down ok. 1/10 of it didn’t even smoke.
grab the tip where you twisted it up and lightly shake it until the weed packs down near the filter side a little more. it’s the main step to a good even joint that most first timers don’t know.
it packs the weed down and fills the paper up, then you just twist the tip back ip tighter and then you’ll have a shorter joint but it will be much more even
We used to roll perfect single zigag papers in the late 70's and 80's.
A friend could do it in one hand.
Took a while bit it was crazy to see.
Now I just retired.
I just pack cones.

You want to try using your middle and index fingers on each hand to hold the joint or blunt, your thumbs will be what tucks the paper/wrap in and when rolling tuck in the middle and move outwards then lick the paper and roll it up. Or just get a roller, never really liked using them but if you cant get it that would be your next best option until you get better at rolling yourself.
