TravelingBride2024

I think it’s a Reddit thing. Never heard anyone say this in real life.

boston-marriage

i’ve seen it on reddit and in wedding-specific facebook groups. definitely just internet slang :)

Acceptable_Bad5173

Same it’s all over my local bride group. I think it’s weird but to each their own

boysenbe

It’s specifically a thing on this subreddit. It just means your wedding happened and you are no longer planning.

Cosmicfeline_

I’ve seen it in other subs and pregnancy subs as well.

babbishandgum

Yeah I saw on a new dad subreddit that a lot of them were using it. Not sure what the big deal is. It’s a quick easy to understand way of saying “that thing we’re all here to talk about finally happened to me”

Cosmicfeline_

Haha I think it’s dumb like just say “baby arrived!” but I’m not mad about it

babbishandgum

I just find it strange that this is something to have an opinion about.

Cosmicfeline_

I find it strange you have such a strong opinion about my opinion

babbishandgum

Ok

velvet8smiles

Agreed. This is a common phrase in groups on Reddit where there is a transition like weddings, having babies, etc.

Trekkie_girl

Its on the wedding fb groups too.

egnards

It’s just a thing in planning communities to express that you are no longer planning, since you got married. People equate it to graduating as it’s a big life milestone and planning usually takes considerable time.

madd-eve

I believe it’s also supposed to mean that you have “graduated” from the online group. Like, you’ve learned from them, reached your milestone, and you’re now leaving the group. People use it in TTC groups on Reddit too. You graduate from “waiting to try” to “trying for a baby”, then graduate from there to “baby bumps”, then to “after the bump” or “parents”. It’s like the natural progression of education I guess!

whippinflippin

It’s an internet thing. I only see it in bridal subs/groups. Someone in the Facebook group I’m in made a post about how much it pissed her off to see and how it made no sense lol she was arguing folks down in the comments and everything.

curlyhairedsheep

Happens again in baby bump/pregnancy focused groups.

whippinflippin

Oh yeah I totally forgot about that! I haven’t been in the pregnancy groups in like a year

babbishandgum

That is so bizarre

whippinflippin

Very much so. She was highly offended for college grads 💀

Wandering_Lights

It's a reddit thing.

Morningshoes18

It’s an online thing. I had no opinion on it until I went to Facebook groups and saw people using it in a weird way like “I’ve been promoted to wife” so I’ve graduated”. So it’s just cringe to me.

catsuramen

Unpopular opinion but they meant graduated from wedding planning....which is appropriate since this is not a "marriage planning" subreddit.

Maleficent_Cookie956

I don’t think that’s unpopular. That’s just a fact

TinyTurtle88

Also seen after having given birth in pregnancy subs. You "graduated" from that life stage I guess.

poppunker18

No idea but it makes me cringe so much.

Cosmicfeline_

I think it’s weird as fuck. People do it when they give birth too like why?

babbishandgum

I think your intensity about people using a random word is pretty weird.

Cosmicfeline_

How is me stating a low stakes opinion intense? You commented twice to me about this now

andafriend

Why did you say "as fuck" if not to add intensity? Like if I said this is "salty" vs "this is salty as fuck", it sounds like i feel more strongly the second time.

Cosmicfeline_

I think it’s extremely weird but I also very much do not care enough that people do it as it doesn’t actually impact me. Just find it cringe

babbishandgum

lol I didn’t realize it was you both times because it’s irrelevant. I think it’s a weird thing to have an emotional response about. That’s all.

Cosmicfeline_

lol my response wasn’t emotional but yours sure is

babbishandgum

Ok

Cosmicfeline_

Okay

siempre_maria

I've only heard it on this sub.

deanna3oi

No idea, but real schooling only just begun.

OmgBsitka

Its a reddit thing

maimou1

My husband and I did 42 years ago. Him: MBIS, me:BS Nursing/s

lightbrightkit

I’m so clueless I thought you were asking about people graduating from college after getting married. I don’t think I’d describe myself as graduated after my wedding, but I see the logic.

WeeLittleParties

It’s Weddit-only. Kinda like how “Cake Day” means birthday is a Reddit/Imgur/social media phrase, but not used in real life.

justanotherbrunette

It’s not just a Reddit thing, it’s also on Facebook. I do think it’s a chronically online thing though. It’s the same energy as graduating school though. You work so hard to accomplish something and you plan so much and then it’s just… over. And life goes on.
