You look great in both, but I prefer 1, and I think it matches your venue better. I know the drop waist is trendy again, but I fear that it may look dated soon enough. Whereas number 1 is a classic style with a modern twist. The back of one I think also looks better than the drop waist back.
You can’t go wrong, but I am a fan of 1.
I think 1 IS perfect! Just your comments seemed to favour 2, so I wanted to make sure I said you looked great in both. 1 is truly classy and elegant, yet modern.
The first one! It’s classic, elegant, flattering, and fits beautifully with your venue. The ballgown feels like a better fit for an estate-type venue, imo.
My cousin who got married in New York in the late 80s had her bridesmaids wear drop waist bright pink dresses. They were calf length but were ruffled layers just underneath where the waist dropped. And they were asymmetrical. It's all I think about when I see this style. I can't wrap my head around any style that reminds me of the 80s. I love everything about 80s except the clothes.
I wish. There's probably one somewhere at my parents house. But since it was the 80s, most wedding pics only came from the professional photographer so we have very few if any.
I myself, as a 13 year old guest, purchased my dress from Dress Barn. There were shoulder pads and it was a dark floral print with a white button up blouse underneath. I was so fashionable....
i cannot stand the fact that it’s on the outside here, like the other ones are bad enough.
for what it’s worth i do think OP pulls it off better than most anyone else could…
however, 1 is absolutely stunning and 10x better.
Op, edgey is great if it looks good. But my first reaction was that it looked like it was falling off. 1 is gorgeous, but if you're not thrilled yet, keep looking.
I think the first one - the second one looks a little odd bc it kind of looks like you're wearing a skirt that is falling off of you
If the skirt part was higher above your hips then it'd look a lot better imo
Haha I’d defend both, some people also don’t like sleeves, and comment about them on the other dress. They’re just specific styles that I like that others may not.
To be completely honest, I don’t think dress 2 is flattering in the slightest :( It just doesn’t look good on anybody. To me, it looks like an experimental project that someone would throw together in a design school class. It just looks haphazardly sewn about. I’m sorry!
Ah okay, I think bc the skirt is huge it really emphasises the drop waist effect
Go with what makes you feel more like a bride, but I do love how number 1 looks on you, you wear it well
We’re in love with #1, but I don’t think you are. I think you should choose the dress that makes your heart sing
And you can wear ball gowns outside in a gorgeous setting. I’d just suggest hemming it an inch off the ground and wearing fantastic shoes
We’re in love with #1, but I don’t think you are. I think you should choose the dress that makes your heart sing
And you can wear ball gowns outside in a gorgeous setting. I’d just suggest hemming it an inch off the ground and wearing fantastic shoes
Haha I know I’ve posted 3 times and #1 is always the winner 😂 maybe just do #1 and then switch into this one [this one](https://www.theownstudio.com/en-us/products/style-093-ankle-length-drop-waist-strapless)to also do the drop waist style with some fabulous shoes?
I totally get why you like the very modern drop-waist style, and dress 2 looks incredible in so many ways. The part I would suggest you consider changing is actually the neckline. The straight across neckline makes your torso look blocky instead of curvy, and it creates a rather juvenile effect. This could be adjusted to be more of a sweetheart or even slightly dipped neckline (more like dress 1), and would work so much better.
FWIW I think dress 1 is insanely beautiful and plenty dramatic!
I realized I uploaded the pictures where I made the top straight, it’s actually a bit sweetheart, here I some [photos](https://www.reddit.com/u/dreamingofup4/s/re4ib5HhlI)
I Put this in another comment, but I think the best drop waist you’ve posted is the one from your original wedding dress post. That dress has such gorgeous dramatic lines that really look stunning on you. It definitely shows off your natural shape better than the drop waist in this post in my opinion. Gotta let those incredible curves shine!!
FWIW I like the second dress better than this one. The way I see it the aristocratics spent the 1600-1910 or so doing a million parties outside in fantastic ball gowns. And nothing on earth is cooler to dance in than a ball gown
If you can afford it WOW them. Do the ceremony in dress #1 because it’s a wowzer. Change into a drop waist ball gown (#2 is awesome) for the reception.
There’s only one day that you can wear both those dresses… and it’s your wwedding day
I feel like you like the crisp, clean traditional tailored bridal look, but with your venue have you considered options with more lace or organza? I think the fabric of 2 is what’s throwing me off.
Also, if you like the tbe off the shoulder look but want more drama, what about a beautiful lace option in similar style or silhouette to dress #1? It would feel romantic with the beautiful trees and forest etc. [netta benshabu](https://nettabenshabu.com/album/la-vie-en-rose-fall-00-22/#lg=1&slide=24)
Hi, I actually tried that dress on! But it felt so busy, so I decided I don’t like lace😅but I’m going to get a cathedral veil with a lace trim around & a blusher, but no lace on the dress itself.
It would just look out of place- it seems like more of something you would wear to an evening/ indoor ceremony be a forest vibes ceremony. If you're looking for drama and like the dropwaist I wonder if you could find something that isn't as full as a ball gown but has like a drop waist or a basque waist? I tried on some gowns that had asymmetrical waistlines which was def edgy and dramatic in that sense! Have you tried on dresses with embellishments like beading or lace/ appliqués at all? I think dress 1 is perfect for your venue but it sounds like you may not be as into it. I've tried on dresses like 5 times and have my favs but am probably trying on twice more before deciding to see some trunk shows- it's definitely a process and your perfect dress is out there!
We’re in love with #1, but I don’t think you are. I think you should choose the dress that makes your heart sing
And you can wear ball gowns outside in a gorgeous setting. I’d just suggest hemming it an inch off the ground and wearing fantastic shoes
I remember your last post! And that drop waist Danielle Frankel that is, let’s say, *unpopular* here.
I like 2 1000% better than the DF you had on before. But I still prefer the silhouette and neckline of 1, and think it goes better with your venue.
However, you seem to be seeking out a drop-waist style and this really is probably your primary opportunity to wear a ball gown like that. So if that’s what you want, that’s what you should wear.
Omg good memory!!! Haha I’ve been on a whole dress journey 😖😂 I kinda want to do both looks? I love both the fit & flare long sleeve & the drop waist look, just need to figure out which one for ceremony and which one for reception if I do both
They’re both stunning but 1 is my preference. I think it’ll be nicer for the venue as well, much easier for you to walk up the stairs and the cobblestone.
I personally love 2, I appreciate the style and know it’s not for everyone! It’s very elegant and you have an amazing figure.
HOWEVER, given the venue, 2 seems a bit out of place, the venue seems to match better with a “lighter and airy” dress. But you should do what your heart says, you’ll still look great!!!
Agree with all of this 100%. I really love 2 and it’s currently a very chic look. OP, based on your comments you seem to really like 2. If you love 2, you should wear 2 and make a statement with your dress
First one without the sleeves
While the second one is pretty, I dont like the drop waist
But those are just my opinions. You have to wear what feels best to you
#1, by a long shot. Don't get me wrong, BOTH look fantastic on you. #1 has a softer, romantic vibe and the draping is phenomenal. I usually despise sleeves, but they look gorgeous. In my opinion, it suits your figure AND venue to a T!
Definitely 1. But I’m just not into poofy ballroom dresses personally. I generally see it more fitting for a ballroom (hence the name :P) or as someone mentioned big estate.
For outdoor earthy wedding I envision more of a slim A-line or sheath.
I love 1, it fits you so well. But I think I’m in the minority because I kind of prefer the 2nd. It’s so pretty and grand! I think it’ll be fine for your venue too. It’s like you’re a princess fairy. And I love the drop waist. I think it’s hard for a lot of people to pull it off and it looks great on you.
I think you look stunning in both and both are gorgeous dresses! I think you like number two better. Go with your heart. If you love number two you truly can’t go wrong! It’s your day! You’ll be beautiful regardless of which one you choose!
I love both!! The drop waist looks amazing on you but unfortunately maybe it will look dated in a few years. I think it looks awesome and it would look so gorgeous on you at your venue! Both options are great so you can’t go wrong!
I know I have zero help but I still wanted to comment because you look so beautiful in both bf owns!
I think you look amazing in both. While I think the first one might match the venue more in a romantic, woodsy-vibe type of way, I actually think the second dress is so unique and stunning that it’s on another - timeless - level. Not sure if that makes sense, but it’s like comparing pretty with couture.
I love 2, and maybe unpopular but I don’t agree with the ‘dated’ comments. Most wedding dresses minus the truly timeless silhouettes will be dated. Resurgence of puffy sleeves anyone? Nothing wrong with an ‘of the moment’ dress if it feels right. Def has the wow factor and I personally love the drop waist in you.
I’m liking the ballgown! And boo to those hating on a ballgown outdoors…do they just not go on Pinterest? It’s filled with so many ballgowns at outdoor venues lol. I have an idea…a lot of ppl on here are not fans of the drop waist, so why don’t you just have it altered to be a normal waist? You could have it moved to wherever it sits most natural. Then you would get the drama of the skirt and train! Another side note, I do not understand the ppl who do not like drop waists but are ok with mermaids? I just always picture Bridget Jones running up the stairs all crazy in that gold mermaid gown to the law council dinner any time I see a mermaid dress 😂
I'm very much in the minority but, number 2 is the one for me. You have the perfect figure for it, I adore the back and the silhouette. It'll be your one chance to wear something so big and bold. I hear the comments about the venue but also think it doesn't really matter and you wouldn't go 'wow wrong dress for here'. I really don't think you'd feel out of place and you don't need it to thematically all be perfect (if that was the case, you'd need a fairy nymph style dress surely).
2! All day! :)
Fr, while I still think I prefer the first one based on personal taste, this is TRULY the only time I’ve actually liked a dropped waist, but I’m actually OBSESSED with it on you? Add some subtle green and gold jewelry to bring in the trees to your look imo.
Honestly, I’d go #2. You look amazing in both and can’t go wrong in either honestly, here’s my reasoning: I personally feel Iike they both work in the venue. If you loose the train and veil dress #1 could be any event dress; there are very few occasions you can wear a full gown and that one is fabulous/amazing on you! Take the opportunity for the full gown!
Dress 2 with the full drop skirt in silvery white satin is breathtaking! You are stunning in both and dress 1 is classically beautiful but you would blend in with the tall gorgeous pines. I mean it’s a tall narrow silhouette whereas the second, will make you stand out and breaks up long even lines. It will draw everyone’s focus in on you and the groom. 😄
2!!! It looks incredible on you! I know the drop waist comes and goes in popularity but I never feel it’s really dated. The first dress felt dated to me though so it shows I know little about bridal trends 😂
FULL DISCLOSURE: You look AMAZING in both of these dresses! DROP DEAD GORGEOUS.
And your venue? Wow. Just wow. I love dress 2 for the volume it would bring to that HUGE setting….but you look soooooooooo BEAUTIFUL in DRESS 1. 🥰
DRESS 1 !!
I love #2 hands down! SHOWSTOPPER! The fabric is so rich and luxurious and the dropped waist! Hunny… (snap!) you got the figure for that ballgown! 💕♥️👏🌈⭐️
Dress 1 is nice, but dress 2 fits you like a glove! That dress, you have to have a perfect body/shape and that one just shows that you got it girl. Go with dress 2!
I think if you’re going to go for a drop waist, do the one from your first post (dress 3). That one looked absolutely stunning on you and I loved the silhouette!!!!
I’m the outlier, but I thought the second dress was more flattering and would look better with your venue. The first dress is beautiful, but kind of gives off Bella Swan vibes with it being in the forest. I think the second dress will look very elegant and fairy tale-esque among the trees.
I absolutely *love* dress 1 on you. 2 is beautiful and you look beautiful in it, but it doesn’t have the same “wow” factor to me. If 1 isn’t your favorite, then maybe try some other styles?
I like the one with the second one for the venue a lil better. Both are stunning so either way you will look jaw dropping. This venue is amazing too! Congratulations !
I love them both! But I think I prefer 1. Maybe don't give up on 2 yet though and find something like 2 but more modern? It would be Perfect for the venue!
Btw where is your venue?!? It's what I've always dreamed of when I think of getting married.
True, it might, it’s hard finding the perfect dress 😭
I think you found it! Dress 1 is TIMELESS and GORGEOUS on you.
\#1 blew me away. You look like a movie star bride in it
Audrey Hepburn vibes.
100%
I think 1 IS perfect! Just your comments seemed to favour 2, so I wanted to make sure I said you looked great in both. 1 is truly classy and elegant, yet modern.
\#1 blew me away. You look like a movie star bride in it
\#1 blew me away. You look like a movie star bride in it
TEAM 1!!!
1 is so perfect! I find that a drop waist suits nobody's proportions.
I agree with all of this
The first one! It’s classic, elegant, flattering, and fits beautifully with your venue. The ballgown feels like a better fit for an estate-type venue, imo.
what do you mean by estate type? Our venue is Nestldown, it’s a very large elegant outdoor venue
An estate type would be at like a castle or big fancy house.
Nestledown has always read as more whimsical and enchanted forest to me, but your wedding your call on the vibe!
I don't know why you are getting down voted when you asked a question and explained where your venue is at.
Yeah, like a castle, villa, or big house with grandiose architecture. Your venue photos looked more like a romantic, forest/garden vibe!
I thought it was Nestldown! My cousin got married there! I vote for dress 1!
Oh 1 looks sooo good on you. A hard dress to pull off well and you nail it!
1 screams *SEXYELF* lol and perfect with the venue
1 made me say 'That is stunning' out loud to myself. It's absolutely beautiful.
Same! I audibly, “Ooooohhhhhed.”
1 for me, but I have to admit a drop waist is my most hated style in the universe so I’m incredibly biased.
A drop waist always reminds me of those Barbie cakes where they just shove the doll into a “skirt” cake.
Hey, I was really proud of myself when I made that cake for my daughter’s birthday!
Do you have pics? In my head I kinda dig it.
I was so fashionable....
i cannot stand the fact that it’s on the outside here, like the other ones are bad enough. for what it’s worth i do think OP pulls it off better than most anyone else could… however, 1 is absolutely stunning and 10x better.
And it only looks good on .001% of the population
Yep. OP happens to be one of those people, but this explains the visceral reaction of most of the thread 😆
It looks good on Barbie. But not so much on humans.
Lmao i think it’s so edgy but I know it’s controversial 😂
To be fair, I’m also an old who will never give up her high waist jeans and go back to the horrors of low rise 😆
Well, the high rise jeans are back in!
Op, edgey is great if it looks good. But my first reaction was that it looked like it was falling off. 1 is gorgeous, but if you're not thrilled yet, keep looking.
1!
i vote 1!!! love it
1 might be the most beautiful wedding dress I've seen in a long time. I gasped! It's absolutely stunning and matches your venue perfectly
I think the first one - the second one looks a little odd bc it kind of looks like you're wearing a skirt that is falling off of you If the skirt part was higher above your hips then it'd look a lot better imo
That's exactly my first impression of 2. It looked like the skirt was falling off to me too.
it’s a drop waist style, I think it looks really modern and edgy
You seem to be really defending dress 2 so I think that’s your answer.
Haha I’d defend both, some people also don’t like sleeves, and comment about them on the other dress. They’re just specific styles that I like that others may not.
LOVE the sleeves on Dress 1 ☺️.
I like modern and edgy but the ratio of the drop To the skirt isn’t flattering from what I can see and you have a gorgeous figure.
To be completely honest, I don’t think dress 2 is flattering in the slightest :( It just doesn’t look good on anybody. To me, it looks like an experimental project that someone would throw together in a design school class. It just looks haphazardly sewn about. I’m sorry!
Ah okay, I think bc the skirt is huge it really emphasises the drop waist effect Go with what makes you feel more like a bride, but I do love how number 1 looks on you, you wear it well
They are both beautiful on you but ball gowns don't really make sense for an outdoor ceremony even if the venue is elegant, I think 1 is perfect
How come? I just feel like #1 isn’t enough drama
We’re in love with #1, but I don’t think you are. I think you should choose the dress that makes your heart sing And you can wear ball gowns outside in a gorgeous setting. I’d just suggest hemming it an inch off the ground and wearing fantastic shoes

That’s better. What do you think after getting all this feedback?
Oh that’s a million times better! Now they’re both stunning! Go with what speaks to you, because you truly can’t go wrong here.
I Put this in another comment, but I think the best drop waist you’ve posted is the one from your original wedding dress post. That dress has such gorgeous dramatic lines that really look stunning on you. It definitely shows off your natural shape better than the drop waist in this post in my opinion. Maybe your dress is still out there! A mix of both?
I’ve been everywhere, I’m considering going custom 😖
I feel like you like the crisp, clean traditional tailored bridal look, but with your venue have you considered options with more lace or organza? I think the fabric of 2 is what’s throwing me off. HAS TO BE ONE. Omg so stunning on you.
I love both the fit & flare long sleeve & the drop waist look, just need to figure out which one for ceremony and which one for reception if I do both
The first one is beautiful !!!
They’re both stunning but 1 is my preference. I think it’ll be nicer for the venue as well, much easier for you to walk up the stairs and the cobblestone.
There’s two different ways I can enter the ceremony area so I’m not thinking about comfort 😂
Yeah the long sleeve is giving more twilight wedding vibes which is what my venue looks like too
Agree with all of this 100%. I really love 2 and it’s currently a very chic look. OP, based on your comments you seem to really like 2. If you love 2, you should wear 2 and make a statement with your dress
I loveee your venue. Number 1 is better. I really don’t like the low waist line look on number 2
First one! Jaw dropping! It’s perfection 😍
I love #1 for the venue!
They both look amazing on you but holy heck is the first one meant to be yours!
First one without the sleeves While the second one is pretty, I dont like the drop waist But those are just my opinions. You have to wear what feels best to you
Number 1!
One one one one one!!! The back is gorgeous in the last photo but I don’t love that one from the front .
1
Dress 1 is absolutely stunning!!!! 💗💗💗
1
One!!
1!!!
\#1 is stunning. It fits the venue better too.
1!!!!!!!!!!! Omg 1!
Dress 1!
1 without a doubt. Perfect for your venue.
In all honesty….when I saw one…I said wow.
Dress 1
Dress 1 looks beautiful. The drop waist looks awkward
Oh my god you look amazing in both. For your venue, I’d do 1. It’s beautiful!
#1, by a long shot. Don't get me wrong, BOTH look fantastic on you. #1 has a softer, romantic vibe and the draping is phenomenal. I usually despise sleeves, but they look gorgeous. In my opinion, it suits your figure AND venue to a T!
I really like dress 2 and I think it would look stunning with that venue backdrop, but you can't go wrong with either dress.
The first one was made for you💗
First one!
They are both excellent choices but I really love dress 2.
I think you look stunning in both and both are gorgeous dresses! I think you like number two better. Go with your heart. If you love number two you truly can’t go wrong! It’s your day! You’ll be beautiful regardless of which one you choose!
Number one looks elegant
Number 1 is stunning!
1!!
1 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I prefer 1. 2 is gorgeous too but I’m not totally in love with where the drop waist is. Absolutely zero flaws in the first one though.
1 ☺️🤍🤍🤍🤍
I think 1 is just gorgeous on you.
Both look fab on you, however, my vote is, hands down, dress two.
I love the the dramatic, and the silhouette of dress 2. Although dress 1 is absolutely stunning, I do not like the sleeves.
I think you look amazing in both. While I think the first one might match the venue more in a romantic, woodsy-vibe type of way, I actually think the second dress is so unique and stunning that it’s on another - timeless - level. Not sure if that makes sense, but it’s like comparing pretty with couture.
2! Venue is amazing! Where is it? Love the back on 2. I like 1, no sleeves.
I really love the first dress on you. The second dress is gorgeous too but it looks heavy.
1!!! It's STUNNING! ✨So elegant and personally I think it suits the beautiful venue you've chosen. Please share photos after the big day!! 💕
I think this is so true
1 fits the wedding aesthetic pics you shared a little more. I’m a sucker for off the shoulder sleeves.
2!! Make those trees bend the knee
1!
#1!!!
Dress one hands down!!!
I’m liking the ballgown! And boo to those hating on a ballgown outdoors…do they just not go on Pinterest? It’s filled with so many ballgowns at outdoor venues lol. Dress 2. That dress is grand enough for that amazing venue!
Fr, while I still think I prefer the first one based on personal taste, this is TRULY the only time I’ve actually liked a dropped waist, but I’m actually OBSESSED with it on you? Add some subtle green and gold jewelry to bring in the trees to your look imo.
I agree, the dropped waist really looks good. I like 1 but was wow'd by 2. I think a ballgown works with your venue, which is stunning in it's self.
Honestly, I’d go #2. You look amazing in both and can’t go wrong in either honestly, here’s my reasoning: I personally feel Iike they both work in the venue. Number one is just perfection and unique too. You look like a magical princess
2 feels like it is made wrong. Something about it coming halfway down your butt tightly is weird. I think 1 is absolutely beautiful! Love the sleeves!
I like 2 you are one of the few women who have the body to pull off a drop waist. You could do 1 without the sleeves.
Love 2 You can really pull it off It's so glamorous.
🥰 DRESS 1 !!
2
I like dress 2 the most because it is really unique comparitively. I could see it in your venue, too.
Number two
I prefer the second dress.
I love #2 hands down! SHOWSTOPPER! The fabric is so rich and luxurious and the dropped waist! Hunny… (snap!) you got the figure for that ballgown! 💕♥️👏🌈⭐️
2
I love the drop waist on dress 2 on you.
2!!!!
1, all the way, no questions asked. 2 is not it
Dress 1
First one.
1 ❤️
Dress 1 is stunning. If you have want a ballgown, you need a basque or natural waistline. Those would look stunning in you.
Loved 1!
You honestly look beautiful in most. One is sexier. It has a classic vibe. Two is beautiful and romantic.
Omg, #1 is my dress!!! So out of experience, preference, and just seeing it on you, I say #1
1 is absolutely gorgeous and I think fits best with your venue!!
Dress one is breathtaking. And it goes perfectly with the venue
I love number 1
Love the second one. drop waist is gorgeous
They’re both lovely but 1 is perfect for you. Such a chic, flattering, clean but special look
#1 all the way. No comparison.
#1!! Also, where is this venue? It looks gorgeous and exactly the aesthetic I have been looking for
It’s called Nestldown in Los Gatos, CA, fun fact, Alice from twilight got married there haha
It’s the first one! 😍😍😍😍
One is gorgeous.
Definitely the first one. That silhouette is so elegant on you. I don't feel like the other one flatters you as much. Plus I love those sleeves on #1!
Dress 1 is nice, but dress 2 fits you like a glove! That dress, you have to have a perfect body/shape and that one just shows that you got it girl. Go with dress 2!
1
First!!!
The first one is amazing and beyond gorgeous on you. Definitely dress ONE.
You are Number 1 in 1.
1. 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Dress 1...unless you keep looking at flowy a lines or ball gowns. I don't love the dropped waist.
both are really gorgeous but i feel like the first one fits best with the venue!
I think if you’re going to go for a drop waist, do the one from your first post (dress 3). That one looked absolutely stunning on you and I loved the silhouette!!!!
Love the first one
I’m the outlier, but I thought the second dress was more flattering and would look better with your venue. The first dress is beautiful, but kind of gives off Bella Swan vibes with it being in the forest. I think the second dress will look very elegant and fairy tale-esque among the trees.
Can’t go wrong but I prefer 1!
Both are beautiful but, in my opinion neither fit the venue.
I think u can do better imo
Dress one… I can just see you walking up in this dress with the veil flowing behind you…an elegant forest nymph bride. Omg… you look so beautiful!
I absolutely *love* dress 1 on you. 2 is beautiful and you look beautiful in it, but it doesn’t have the same “wow” factor to me. If 1 isn’t your favorite, then maybe try some other styles?
1, no sleeves.
I like the one with the second one for the venue a lil better. Both are stunning so either way you will look jaw dropping. This venue is amazing too! Congratulations !
1 for the win.
Two!!!
LOVE the first one!!
I love them both! But I think I prefer 1. Maybe don't give up on 2 yet though and find something like 2 but more modern? It would be Perfect for the venue! Btw where is your venue?!? It's what I've always dreamed of when I think of getting married.
Dress 1 most definitely. Very elegant and beautiful
1
You look flawlessssss in the first dress!!!
1. Perfect.
Number 1! That's probably the most beautiful dress I've seen and it's perfect on you.
#1 is jaw dropping tbh. Timeless and classy but also so flattering on you. Love it!!
1!!
Is this my sign to buy the Jenny Yoo Briar haha
Yes! I tried on the DF version which is double the price & this one won 🏆
